    I went to a beach where there's a lot of sea urchins... so we got all of them, put them in a net with a bunch of rocks and we just fucking rolled them in and out in the shore so their thorns will be removed. We ate them later with hot sauce and soy sauce and vinegar. it was great stuff. really good with beer.

    these kind of videos fascinate me. I stay clear away from sea food, but I get jealous of people who can eat sea food. Sometimes, I wonder if I starve for days would I be able to eat sea food and love it?

  • @TubaBuddha
    @TubaBuddha 8 лет назад +6

    Uni is one of my top three Sushi foods. And to get it THAT fresh...amazing. SO JEALOUS! I also know that the brighter yellow or orange color, the higher the quality. I think yours was a Grade B. But the freshness really wins flavor wise.

    sea urchins are cheap in the Philippines. but it depends on where you buy it. in cities and/or urban areas, urchins can be expensive too (but not that much). but really, it's really cheap here in our country. some of us doesn't even really care about sea urchins. so, it's really somewhat shocking to some of us who doesn't have an idea that sea urchins are so expensive in other countries. EVEN TUNA for sashimi are not that expensive here. it's just a regular fish to us or at least a little bit higher in price than the regular fishes. that's why some fishermen sell and ship it to other parts of the world so that they can sell it at much much higher price.

      in america, my local 4.5 star sushi restaraunt has a sushi boat for $90 as its smallest size(they have three, goes wayy over hundred)
      theres 12 sashimi(yellow tail, lean tuna, ahi tuna, sashimi), about 8 assorted sushi rolls(unagi, tuna, salmon, california, cucumber, etc), and 2 pieces of Uni Sushi(seaweed wrapped around a single piece of uni)
      $90, but about 1/5th of it goes to the Uni itself

    but we have to crack them open by ourself. dat shit got nasty when you spoon out the good part while the spikes still moving. it has blood and gunk oozing out the whole time. man, great stuff
