"Every unit I built gets countered by ghosts. That makes it no different by a regular game, but still, that makes it frustrating."
Truer words never had been spoken.
41:50
SC2 has never been so unbalanced, yes that includes the brood infestor days
@@Tomoyo0827 hmm u ever seen HOTS brood lords and what about HOTS tanks or original adepts 1 shorting workers with glaves 1 shotting lings and marines
Yeah, I'd say at least make ultras untargetable or take reduced damage (as it would also kinda make sense since they're supposed to be huge, tanky, and armoured).I think giving ultras protection against snipes after upgrading plating would be nice
@@Tomoyo0827 i think lowko said something like thus: Ghost on their own seem imba, but there is no way a terran could win a lategame fight without them
"Every unit i build gets countered by the ghost - i guess that makes it no diffrent from a regular game, but still" LOL
I was actually dying laughing at how ineffective the ultra was and the barrage of transfuses to keep him alive :D
„Ghost is a Cheater unit!!“
My IIODIS Senses are tingeling hard on this one😂
I think, Nydus is the way. You won't win straight fight. Enemies are just gonna kite you off creep every time. This changes when creep is in their mineral line
Agreed!!!!
I think you stop being able to win in a straight fight some time shortly after getting out of the metal leagues once your opponent can reliably match your effective actions per minute and knows a thing or two . Many of the tools each race has are about effecting some sort of unbalancing action on your opponent.
Ultra drops (pooping included)
Proxy Hatch Ultras
Swarm Host DPS support
Defend flanks with spine and spore crawlers from mad injects spawning surplus drones (noticing a surplus of minerals and that queen ultra pivots slowly)
yes, it is hard. Out of creep there are no transfuses + queens with ultras block each other badly. Probably, if ultra is rushed really fast it can change things. I saw a game (pretty low level) where a zerg played 1 base ultra against a terran and it looked pretty strong.
quad nydus
Around 23mins in “I have too many Queens, they’re blocking my units”… 0.3 second later “I need to build more Queens”. Hilarious!
I could NOT stop laughing at that game the entire time... One bad thing after another happening and me wondering..... How is this game still going on??? Not long after that he says, 24:33 "I want to kill this base so bad"! He kills 2 or 3 cannons trying to get to the base while losing 3 hatcheries lmao...
I absolutely LOVE the Swarm Host at 42:47 who has NO IDEA what's going on and is just running with the rest of the pack. I can relate so much!
Harstem homebrewing a whole ass Torrasque
Fiction's saddest Torrasque.
Now there's a reference I didn't expect
@@LasseLundster You werent expecting a starcraft reference in a starcraft video? :p
Adding nydus to the mix may have helped get your armies across the lap with more ease. Great video 🎉
Congrats man, you did it very well. It was good to see a challenging matches like these!!!
Well played. It did really look like you were trying your best. Kudos!
39:47 Luckiest marine ever
LOL he ran straight away to nomansland
46:29 he finally figured out "maybe nydus in the main" will solve his creep problems lmao i was basically sitting here screaming at my monitor for the last 30 minutes
12:44 *that sad attempt at splitting the sluggish queens* 😂
as some one who has spent about 40,000 to 45,000 hours in the starcraft 2 galaxy editors various different data fields, as well as 3-dimensional editing sc2 custom models (thanks and credits to the sc2mapster community), I must say I some what predicted this in your widow mines episode of is it imba or do I suck comments section. this episode is so very vindicating to me. I knew this would happen eventually, it was only a matter of time til some one tried it. Thank you harstem, for uploading this. Yes this queen ultra micro/build is very powerful, and seems imba, especially against mass reaper mass hellion or mass marine, but it is hard countered by high templar/pheonix, due to feed back for queens and gravity beam queens preventing heals on the ultra, ghost/banshee/battle cruiser due to stealth air for the ultras and emp for the queens and yamato for ultras, and corruptor/brood lord because queens cannot out dps or out range a brood lord and broodlings distract the ultralisk too much, wasting the ultralisks damage on temporary free units, with corruptors to one shot any thing left over, and is there for not imba. Just creative and well done.
In game one I think you needed zerglings with fungal growth and blinding cloud on the stalkers, to truly debilitate them, with multiple fungal growths on the same units, to keep them in position/take work load off zerglings and blinding cloud to give the infesters a better chance, as well as helping the zerglings and ultras close the distance easier, and corruptors for the carriers, its important to do it after a blink, preferably an aggressive blink, even if its an ''all in'' the stalkers will take more losses if you run less. ultras are less efficient against stalkers compared to lings, lings close the gap faster, surround better, and chase better then ultras, and give the ultras more survivability, if they decide to focus the ultras, then the zerglings will do even better, use lings and ultras together for maximum effect, I personally think you needed more lings once he transitioned away from air, instead of more queens, hydras can also help out the queens, I also think defensive hydras/lurkers with spores/spines would of worked better for the dark templar then zerglings ultras constantly running home. I also think you needed to ''split'' your queens more, to try and get higher energy ones to the front, to prevent you from losing ultras to the transfusion range, A fascinating game to watch regardless, mad skills.
In game two, I think you needed mutas, to deal damage to scvs (not bases) and ignore the bases, I also think the ghosts weakness as weird as it sounds, is the repeated zergling all in, because its impossible to snipe them all, and ghosts are expensive compared to lings, transition out of ultras to zergling muta brood lord for mass ghosts. ghosts weakness is low damage high numbers trash units, and better positioned longer range units combined, like marines with tanks, zealots with tempests and zerglings with banelings and brood lords, or surprisingly mutas, because ghosts on foot can never catch up to mutas, and are less useful against well positioned brood lords with large zergling compliments, its the only thing zerg has that can out range the the ghosts, you might also find lurkers and burrowed banelings helpful for retreating, as the ghosts will likely chase you when you run backwards. Remember, burrowed banelings dont have to unburrow to do damage, as long as there are enemy units ontop of them when they get com sat'ed they will still deal damage. Put them in the ground defensively in the mineral line and the ramps.
To protect overseers from ghosts, as odd and off putting as it sounds, a good measure for that is to put mutalisks as well as ordinary overlords ontop of your overseers, specifically mutalisks have a fairly large collision shape for the left click target function inside their model, and quite often snipes will hit mutas instead of overseers, use overlords and mutalisks defensively ontop of your overseers to help keep them alive, even if the mutalisk is more expensive, sometimes its still better to loose the mutalisk instead of the overseer, and the overlord instead of the overseer, specifically in large important battles.
you can also use overlord micro to ''poop'' on expansions, to further delay terrans building command centers, similar to how you use your probes. if they come and scare the overlord away, you can just bring him back to poop again after/if the units leave, before the creep expires and before he starts it (the command center/nexus). you can even poop creep in their base to increase the speed the nydus worm finishes building.
over all very difficult games, much easier to say then do, micro wise, A fantastic performance. and all my critique is just theory, perhaps it will give you some exotic ideas. well done harstem.
It obviously doesn't seem imba at all and phoenix can't even lift ultras because they are massive. If you have that little game knowledge, why start bragging?
@@henningbreede6428 lifts queens* I meant to say =)
as in, lifted queens cannot use transfusion on the ultra* im tired lol
im not bragging, just trying to help, I have a fairly decent idea on how data works.
ruclips.net/video/boxtNOTeR9I/видео.html
he seemed to be struggling, so I figured i'd throw some ideas out, never mean to offend any one
22:40 "I have too many queens! That's a real issue!"
seconds later: "ok, more queens..."
21:42 - "We meed MOAR Queens.. That's the one thing we do need more of."
22:44 - "I have too many Queens. It's a real issue right now."
23:00 - "Get MOAR Queens."
Idea: "No using creep tumors". You can spread creep in other ways (overlords, hatcheries, maybe other ways I don't know about), or you can just not make any creep. Up to you in each game. If necessary, you can adjust it to "no using creep tumors outside your main".
Well lets add creep tumors but not spreading so if he want more he has to put actives everywhere. Would be easier but the amount of Queens and Queen micro would be funny. Maybe if thats too easy he could add the need to achieve a goal with the creep like reaching his opponents third or filling atleast half the map. edit.: Otherwise it would have to end in wining with as less creep as possible because you cant just put hatches everywhere and if I understood that right the goal should be filling the map with creep in a stupid way. If its to easy he could also use a cap like he can never have more than 10 queens inc. the inject ones or each hatch can only build one but no limit on hatches. Or allow spread but the line has to start at his main. Give him atleast a chance. Failing at an impossible task like this one is kinda boring and painful to watch. I want to see him suffering not in despair.
@@fdsfnicht6533 I don't want to see him just lose a bunch of games either. The strategy in this video required a lot of creep, so I thought of an idea that is the opposite.
I feel like he could do my idea of not using creep tumors successfully if he tries to win in the early game (when Zerg normally doesn't have a lot of creep anyway), focuses on air units, or uses Nyduses.
@@cmasupra Thats what i meant when i said it would result in wining without any creep. He would be forced into mass muta rush, or Nydus rush. If that is what he should do, what i aggree on, it should be in cheesiest man alive, because that are nearly real cheeses, not stupid stuff (or better other stupid stuff). So yes great idea but in my mind, for the wrong series. That never would work in real'ish' -'macro'-games what is kind of the theme of the best episodes of this series.
@@cmasupra Muta only for example could be a BGWSS but no creep would be muta only with extra what could be fun too but not defendable without creep. Btw. i could be totally wrong. I have not played for years.
@@fdsfnicht6533 I agree that this might be the wrong series for this idea. Maybe I could spin it as "using queens only for injects to build a massive army" to make it sound more appropriate for this series, though. lol.
I don't think the idea is a cheese, but I also don't fully think it's right for BGMWSS. It's just a limitation for Harstem to play with. Maybe it goes in the Challengestem series but without me playing against him. The only way I could win is if Harstem had a blindfold! :D

"I should've brought Overlords for pooping." ~ Harstem 2022
MOAR DAKKA at 10:00,and im either gonna watch music or other things.stay sharp captain,i like the things you do
bring a couple speed overlords in creep spread mode and have them follow your queens. you cant accidentally a-move them and they will spread your creep a little farther as you push out.
Best vid to start my day with!
BGMWSS suggestion (Or cheesiest man alive): 1 base nydus/swarm host rush. I've seen PiG do this and honestly it sees a fair amount of success.
This.
I would like a version where you can build more ultra but this is also a must-do video.
Nice. I was doing similar (rush ultras) month ago. Was fun in ZVZ especially.
"This build works out perfectly" - Harstem, during supply block at 66/66
Remember before the transfuse nerf when people used to argue which unit was more OP...the queen or the ghost? One day the ghost will get a nerf, maybe in SC3.
You should have shown how many kills those 3 ultras from second game had. And what resource lost tab looked like before they died.
You're a content MACHINE!
I like the idea of this "build" :)
Maybe you can make it work if you use overlords to spread creep faster at the front/in the fights. So they enemy can't kite your queens.
And an other idea: if you would have had also +1 oder +2 melee attack upgrade lots of marines would have died faster. Maybe you would be able to break the terran in the early stages before Ghosts/liberators.
Overlords die in a sec Vs marines ..
@@Madjed007 Yes, but if you also have combat units nearby the marines will prioritize those first. You just have to queue up your overlords to move in slightly ahead of you + hold position, then move in your army as the OLs arrive to draw fire.
...
Might still be terrible, but at least it gives you a fighting chance.
Back when sometimes you see a hero ultra, queen transfuse healed for a full 125 on cast AND it can be cast off creep.
I was also thinking that using an overlord creep highway might help, but also reframing the challenge might make it easier while still staying in the same spirit-it could be something like one ultra needs to get up to X kills or make up at least half of all kills you get on your opponent
Hey Harstem! Love the content brother! An idea: lowest possible apm. Thought it might be goofy for the game to end and your opponent sees you had an apm of like 50. Just seeing how low you can go!
Keep up the awesome work man!
31:58 me when you start talking
Idk if it was proposed before, but an idea for BGWSS: Rush to +3 shields without any other forge upgrades, BUT you are not allowed to make archons.
26:26 I agree, if queens could heal off creep then it would perhaps be possible as you could attack off creep but queens dont move fast on creep let alone trying to do damage off creep. I think doing this with lings allowed as well might make it more possible as you could deny bases a little easier
Ok I laughed at the title already... XD
Back in the day I would bloodbath 1v1 hive rush for defiler while mass ling for dark swarm. When the defiler pops it's rush with "cracklings"
Food for thought?
I'd like to see this challenge again! being allowed more ultras, and maybe you could try to keep their economy low with nydus attacks
Referenced ghost quote at 41:50
I like your new series "getting beat by grandmasters with stupid stuff"
need fungal first game was painful even on creep the protoss just dances around your units.
does fungal do dot dmg? or its actually useless
Harstem should submit an IMBA report for the ghost and then have the captain host IODIS.
I have a stupid stuff idea. Stealing opponents minerals with mule drops. Turtle; build many orbitals, scan and mule drop until your opponent mines out
Maybe you could stun army with fangled growth then single ultra perhaps some hydras behind it for damage output
idea for BGWSS. every time you fight offensively, you need to support your push with shield batteries or cannons constructed under warp prisms
You move slow so you need a way to zone your opponent out long enough to "claim" territory, ie spread new creep. Best way I can think to do that against a GM is using their training against them.
So... Swarm hosts or broodlords. Idea isn't to win with those units, merely to claim territory. I still don't know how you'd attack up ramps, so it'd still end up being a nydus, but swarm hosts might help with your stagnant "push."
this is how rocky balboa trains BEFORE he runs up the mountain, it was cut from the movie.
It's always fun to see zergs ultimate ground unit be destroyed by a bunch of gateway units!
To be fair, the ultimate Protoss air unit gets destroyed by queens, too, if there's only one carrier out. :D
@@falconpaladinsc2 Yeah but even a bunch of ultras will die to blinkstalkers. Just not a very good unit. They should be able to walk over units like colossi imo.
I'm curious if this could have worked with Brood Lords instead of Ultras
Special episode idea: "dumb and dumber", invite some other famous SC2 personality and do some combo stupid stuff strategy. You can even have a specific account for the guest so you don't have to do the placement every time
Just zerg things: The random accidental swarm host following the army
I'd love to see a SUPPLY PREVENTION challenge. Your purpose: prevent opponent from building pylons, depots, and overlords non-stop.
The terran was trading so well with marine marauder medivac that Harstem simply forgot that ghosts were even a thing XD. If Ultras can't trade vs marines, what's even their purpose in this game? A rework would be needed for zergs to enjoy playing this unit
The conclusion to the 1-ultra push's potential was not too surprising, but I still felt the Captain's frustration on a spiritual level :/
"Ultraling" lol
It's so imba that you can't transfuse energy from the back queens to the front. You should have SC fix that.
Is it even remotely possible to rush out an ultra and have +3 arm done at the same time as chitinous finishes (or just after?) Ultras are so bad without armour upgrades but the first time they hit with full +5 is the most impactful time for them.
I swear that first Protos kept letting you live because he was almost as invested in seeing if your strategy was any good as you were.
It's hilarious that everything about this challenge uses already nerfed tactics :p This isn't BGMWSS, it's SC2 MP on Brutal difficulty
I saw this title and thumbnail and said "No way is that possible"
I think they should make ultras similar to colossi in terms of unit size so they don't derp out so much. Make it so that the basically can stand over the top of smaller units
Nidas not allowed?
Yess queen.
You had to take ovorlord to the battle to generate creap
BGMWST idea .. every time you attack your opponent, have of your army should be hallucinated
Make cannon battery in common attack path and defend it.
Ghost can basicly snipe every zerg unit, and erase caster's energy and bring fear to the bravest heart with 'nuclear launch detected', so yeah it's a cheater unit.
This strat is a classic someone link the Destiny clip
I think try via nydus network
46:00 maybe with a nydus network?
46:20 haha ok, i could have watched 30 more seconds before typing this down.
im more of a newer fan, harstem and his cheesy build series is amazing and makes we want to play sc2 again, but ill enjoy you destorying them from the sidelines in the meantime!
I want to see this with new Ultras and nydus or overlords used for offensive creep spread PLUS couple infestors for MICROBIAL SHROUD !!!!!! This is the perfect situation for that spell.
And not having overlord speed at 15 minutes is ridiculous... its such a cheap upgrade.
were pretty fun games still, not easy losses
you should have brought overlords for pooping
"the ghost is a cheater unit" now he knows how literally every zerg feels when they hear the snipe happen. combined with late game mech and terran is OP vs zerg
Ultralisks aren't really bad. They just aren't supposed to carry an army, but are necessary to tank low base damage attacks (like from Interceptors and BCs).
Anways, it's funny how an opponent with the best counter versus Ultralisks starts building the two units that are countered by Ultralisks, Carriers and Templars.
I don't see how Ultras are counter to Carriers since they can't kill them.
The idea is that 6 armor ultras can effectively ignore the carriers and just kill all of your opponent’s stuff
@@benpark5074 Same for carriers, they can effectively kill off your base and the ultras can stand there and watch. 6 Ultras vs 6 Carriers, I can guaranteed the Carriers will win every fight.
@@walden6272 It would be 100s of shots NOT used to kill actually valuable units. Alternatively, ultra can steamroll anything combined with carriers (economically)
@@LasseLundster with that logic, I guess spines are a hard counter to carriers too huh.
yesssssss
Hey Harstem Could you Please do beating Dimond league with Realy Stupid stuff I'm thinking winning with a single Ultra there would be possible and hilarious. also for your next challenge against diamond league steal a probe or SCV with an infestor and beat the opponent with units from their own race Build Tarren or Protoss base yata yata yata can't wait to see it! Love to See it
So he specifically switched from his low GM account to his main account for BGMWSS because it was lame to play against that much lower rated players and now you want diamond opponents? Why do you think he would ever do that.
I use this at a legit strategy in Bronze.
what if you rush for the fastest possible brood lord on one or 2 bases?
Then it dies to any early marine or stalker push.
@@Leonhart_93 the point of the series is to beat grandmasters with stupid stuff you clown.
Ghosts...is it imba or do I suck?
There was a fake patch in which ultras can go over your own units. I think that was a great idea.
Stetman, the Coop Comander has an ability like that (Burrow Strike). The whole unit would be useless without it.
Watching this Ultralisks biggest downside is their size, feels like they should be able to walk over friendly units or have better pathing in general :)
harstem plz incorporate mass changeling in to game play
I think the lesson for zerg is land units are for defense, on creep. Use air or nydus, maybe swarm hosts (which are kind of air) to break the final base.
I think nydus would help with this style.
If only this was pre patch and queen could transfuse off creep
You should retry this now with the new patch to the ultra's
Its shameful that ultralisk is so bad Blizz could make it cost 0 and it would still be cost inefficient and disappointing...
i dont understand why pro players dont use the overlord creep ability to speed up creep spread (by planting new tumors further), is it just to apm intensive?
maybe its to risky?
i was also thinking with these dumb build that rely on creep this much maybe a forward hatch as a big hp tumor would also nog be wasted money
I love how he struggles and still thinks he can do it. This is why he's a pro lol
*Hero Ultralisk*
Next SC2 patch buff Ultras and nerf Ghosts?
single ultra with mass ling
BGMWSS Idea: You can only use units at the end of their tech branch (fleet beacon/robo bay units) with the exception of early game defense. or possibly the opposite where you use only lings marines etc
Dude use overlords + speed upgrade for offensive creep spread.. pls for the love of god
If the Suppylisk isn't referenced in this video, I will be disappointed.
edit: spoiler alert: it wasn't. Nice video though!
Protoss was probably the worst to try it on first. Too many easy anti-armor units.
