Great race. I have been going to Road Atlanta every year since 2011 for Petit Le Mans. It is amazing in person.
Agreed! I went there for my first time for a T/A and Speed Tour race weekend in '23. Its awesome!
And that 4+ story drop from the bridge to the front stretch is crazy! There's no picture or video that can do it justice. Once you've seen that with your own eyes, your mind will be blown...

@@sethrenigar6012 It's true, you have to see it in person. The LMDh cars are basically flat out into turn 1 now, and the looking down from the top of the esses at turn 3, down to turn 5 is very cool. I'm lucky enough to be trackside as a photographer at Road Atlanta and Road America.
Yeh I've never really understood why people love Road Atlanta, it's just not a very good track imo.
Might try some GT4. Seems a pretty good series 👍🏾

Road Atlanta has the best S curves. I like Road America for the best overall track.
I’ve done two races this week with the gt4s in Atlanta in the Aston Martin both times the leaders took each other out trying to overtake on the final laps it’s tricky to do safely
Yea racing at RA could be a bit better, but man i love this track. Happy to race in gt4 at it.

I am really struggling with understeer in turn one in the McLaren as well. Wonder if the Aston would be better here
If you roll off the car early and settle the car in advance it's not too bad. It certainly doesn't like to be rushed 😁

In the GTP, I won at Sebring sprints and did endurance and all, but I just CANT get clean around Road Atlanta. Which is strange since in the SF23, I was blazing. Maybe I am overpushing. Idk...
Another great video Dave! After my disastrous last couple of races at Zaandvoort, feeling more comfortable here, qualifying around P22/P23 and finishing usually P6/P10.
Nice Video! I just raced here for the 1st time in an official race in the GT4 Cayman last night. Ran into the same issue. Love the track but its not a good track for overtakes. Didn't have a good quali either with off tracks. Ended up putting my self in Danger trying to overtake slower traffic.

I just started simracing and Its insane to watch how smooth you drive. my limit right now is a 1:28.2. To see the difference in moving the wheel and braking is so helpful. Hope to improve further and further with your videos. Stay as you are :)

I love Road Atlanta as well. One of my favorite tracks ever. But I disagree with you about overtaking here. I can't think of an area on the track that either I haven't passed or been passed on numerous occasions... I've always felt the exact opposite. I feel like you can race people cleanly anywhere on this track.
Yes it can be done but when the field is so closely matched it's only happening in 2 places. Just like this video 😁
Do I smell a potential full season of series participation in the air?
I've done a few races this week in the BMW, the poor old Bavarian bathtub is just geared all wrong for the track - 4th gear is faster than 3rd for the left hander at the bottom of the esses but the line between getting enough rotation to make the corner and understeering into the wall is very fine, and you can never get a good run out of the right-hander that leads onto the back straight because 2nd is too short and you bang off the limiter but 3rd is too tall and it lugs. But the racing has been pretty good so I don't mind too much 😊

You were mighty in that race dave, especially on corner exit leading onto the back straight. If only you had qualified higher up the grid.

@@davecamyt That it might be, but the way you set this up @15:59 for the overtake (against another Mclaren) was great race craft.

@@davecamythow do you have the throttle setup I can't seem to dial mine in the right way. when i let go of the throttle for braking zone the brake and throttle graphs always show overlap, then when i press in all the way on the throttle the graph shows that im only doing ~95%
@@tonesnaps I calibrated my throttle so that as soon as I felt resistance I set that to the max (in the singrade software). Make sure you set the min value slightly more than the raw number. Make sure to save it to device 👍

It's definitely not for the weak.
The track is a roller coaster - so fun to DRIVE. I’m not looking forward to RACING in IMSA there, though. 😅
