its fucking munchlax. I'm in the middle of a munchlax hunt myself so I know the pain. it's been over a month so far
Feebas gets all most of the hype of being such a rare and obscure Pokémon, but treelax is soooo much harder imo. It’s really cool to see a run based around this, because doing it vanilla at best odds your roughly looking at around just two weeks just to find it. That’s assuming you look up two of the trees from your trainer ID
feebas isnt even all that bad, you know exactly where its at if not the specific tile, the encounter odds once a tile is located are quite high and then its an easy catch. even finding the tile isnt all that bad if you have a little patience or use one of those calculators
legit, like when you're a kid in the mid '00s, there's not that many games garnering for your attention and you've got lots of time to kill. just fish each tile 2-3 times and use a combing pattern so you don't miss a single tile
I no longer remember which tile it was, but I found it in only 2 or 3 play sessions
Weird gimmick speedruns will always be my favorite. Shoutout to Munchlax%.

2:15 - Pre-clue guess: We're trying to get Munchlax from the tree, which has a 1% encounter rate and only spawns from certain trees. All the seemingly random steps beforehand manipulate the RNG so it will appear. If I recall correctly, the Pokémon encountered from a honey tree is decided when you slather the bark with honey, it just doesn't actually appear until after a waiting period, and only for a brief window once it does.

On my (only) playthrough, I casually found a Munchlax early game (during story progression) and also found Feebas after around 15 encouters. That was a stupid level of luck.
I was getting Vietnam flashbacks as soon as I saw the thumbnail since I've just got my 2nd badge in my Pokemon diamond professor oak challenge recently. The trees were pain
One fact you could have put in the video is that it's not just about that tree, as munchlax trees are selected from the 23 honey trees in the game you get 4 munchlax trees given by your trainer ID and secret ID
I feel like if you're RNG manipulating, you might as well get a shiny while you're at it, for the maximum flex.
Sadly showing the shiny animation each battle slows down the game considerably.
@@nicolaistuhlmuller8718oh really that explains why I had such a long speedrun with a bunch of shinies bc on a a pokemon sun speedrun I took 7 hours very slow for me as my fastest is 4 hours but I got 126 shinies mostly soodo woodo

1% encounter rate is an understatement. It's a 1% encounter rate... on 4 specific honey trees which are randomized each save file (based on trainer id and secret id). You have no way of figuring out which trees are the ones that can spawn munchlax without hacking/cheating/glitches/etc or finding a munchlax

Another Gen 1-3 playground myth I heard was that if you get a whole team of level 100 Dragonites and use 40 max repels in a row west of New Bark Town you will encounter a level 100 Mewtwo
This made me play platinum with turtwig again! Good memories.. I always pick water types since I love sapphire/mudkip since it was my childhood game with Crystal/Yellow

Strong Pokémon. Weak Pokémon. That is only the selfish perception of people. Truly skilled Trainers should try to win with the Pokémon they love best.

@@sleazy8207 not until the elite 4. It was over leveled AF. Only reason I lost was because I was a kid who didn't understand dark was immune to psychic, so I just had to change a single move and then I beat the elite 4 in one try.
As a competitive Pokémon player, hearing "monstrous" and a member of the Rampardos family in the same sentence just feels wrong.

So there is absolutely not purpouse to this at all, heck these categories really should just have the pokemon cheated in at the start of the game at lvl 5 to not waste 6 hours just waiting on rng.
There actually is a category that does that! It's called Trade Alt Main, where you start with a low-level traded Pokemon of your choice.

What do ya know, I knew all along. I didn't knew it was a speedrun though, but all this storytelling was pointless, it spilled the beans already for me. Really, Modern Day RUclips is so excruciating since everybody pad out the watchtime, it's like these scam articles with 12 needless pages.
Not everyone uploads highly entertaining 30+ minute videos of some random gameplay nobody watches.

Like what are you saying, the point is that he's making it seem like this whole big deal, but I knew the answer right away only to pad it out needlessly, it's like he's treating me like an idiot. To make it clear, it's not the subject itself I dislike, the speedrun aspect, it's the way it's been presented, several people now feel forced to put all this glitter onto something that may've already been interesting if not for it. Why do I have to explain every minute things.
Furthermore, tell me this; what about the fact Munchlax only appears in FOUR of the 21 Honey Trees in Sinnoh? That seems like a VERY crucial piece of information, don't you think? And the guy here never mentions it for some reason. So this means that, on top of the about 1/5 chance that his Honey Tree is a Munchlax Tree, Etchy has the 1/100 too for Munchlax himself, which I don't remember how to do the maths on these chances, but point is... does the RNG Manipulation somehow converts a Non-Munchlax Tree into giving you said Pokémon? This wasn't clearly explained in the video either.
If not, this seems like an even crazier waste of 6 hours if it's the wrong tree every 4/5 runs, more props to Etchy if that's the case, but if the RNG does circumvent it, I believe this should've been mentionned in the video because there's now this gaping hole here as I feel this video was just pumped out.
And that's why I don't like it, there you made me expose the plothole. At least Pikmin 2 Glitch videos get to the point, it's not the length the problem.
