- So you know about valve covers but this is a side cover, aka push rod cover aka lifter cover, on in line 6 cylinder the lifers are not accessed from under the intake manifold like a V8 or V6 , they are way down low in the motor and are accessed by a cover on the side of the motor, as they get old the gasket will eventually start to leak just like the valve cover gasket on the top of the cylinder head and will need to be replaced, I'll show you what it looks like on the side of the motor and how to replace it
#gasket #leaking
just repainted and reinstalling my side cover tomorrow. great video! i removed my distributor cap as well to make things easier
Nice work!
I thought i recognized that accent then I saw the flag, lol. I'm in Florida these days, I picked up a 1994 short bed with the 4.9 every project video i've seen you doing i've had to do on my own truck. Wont be long and you'll be doing an ECM capacitor re-solder video. Earned a sub from me.
I actualy started that even though they were not leaking LOL
Shalom from Mississippi gulf coast 😇 Maranatha ❤
Thanks
Excelent Job, Sir. God bless you.
Thank you kindly
Never actually knew the i6 had that but it makes sense that it does!
The old inline engines are becoming scarce now and no one knows much about them, they generally have more torque then their V8 counter part of similar displacement, while a 302/5.0 V8 has more horse power then a 300/4.9 I6 with only 1 L or 2 CID difference between them, the 300/4.9 can pull more weight because it has more torque, and with them diapering no one knows much about there actual design any more, in fact before my time there where a lot of Inline 8 cylinders, there referred to as a Straight 8, I'm glad I could show this difference and hope I explained it well enough, Thanks for the comment.
@@AintScaredGarage thanks for the reply! I am looking at buying a i6 version of my truck for hauling some stuff, ad I've got a 302 right now. And the power adding I am doing may not benefit towing as much. The straight 8 engines are really cool though!
Great videos Ed!
Thanks Bob, glad to see you do watch lol
