I know it seems unrealistic that "only one guy" would have seen the asteroid, but this is one of the few realistic parts of the movie.
Stuff like that happens in astronomy all the time, where some independant person is the first to find something, because as Billy Bob said "it's a big sky" and only so many people are looking at any given time.
Since you kept bringing up science inaccuracies, I figured you might enjoy this bit of trivia. On the DVD commentary, Ben Affleck says that he asked Michael Bay how it could possibly make sense that it’s easier to train oil drillers to be astronauts than it is to train astronauts to use a drill one time, and Michael Bay’s response was “Shut the fuck up”. So I figure that’s probably how he handled science questions, too.
also, apparently nasa has their employees watch it to determine how many scientific and procedural innaccuracies there are. lol
I mean nowadays anyone can technically be an astronaut, the rocket can fly itself. It’s nuts how old this movie is. Seems like yesterday this song was playing everywhere and people couldn’t stop asking “have you seen it yet?!”
It's a fictional movie... Not sure why people try to act like it should be "scientifically accurate".
@@Mariah1hajilEour tax dollars hard at work...
@@donnieboughton1730 you're a smart one huh? You think watching a movie is breaking a budget?
NASA uses this movie as a sort of informal test for technicians to spot all of the false science in the movie. According to IMDB, NASA has found 168 errors for graduate engineers to spot. It is so funny because it is so ridiculous. More seriously, the movie Deep Impact came out about the same time with a more serious approach to the science and...stuff.
"HE'S GOT SPACE DEMENTIA." Hands down the unintentionally funniest line in the movie. And I'd bet $1,000,000 that it was added as a re-shoot because test audiences didn't understand Rock Hound's behavior.
"Space Madness" with Ren and Stimpy, comes to mind. We call it pressure induced psychosis. Don't touch the History Eraser button, you fool!
Actually, now I want someone to make a movie by that name. Sounds like fun.
Nikki 4 mins in: "Okay that's a lot."
Me: "Buckle up babe, you are in for a ride."
Please tell me Nikki hasn't seen Independence Day. She would love it.
I'm pretty sure she's seen at least 20 independence days
"the most Michael Bay movie I've ever seen." Time to watch The Rock lol. Another great video you guys👍
I second this.
31:56 "I'm sorry, is this an earthquake? Astroquake? Assquake? It's an assquake! Why are you in the crack?! Get out of the crack! Oh no, he's gonna go in the crack! Get outta there!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nikki needs to watch Apollo 13 or The Right Stuff so she can restore her faith in space movies.
Good to have you back, Nikki!
Remember that Liv Tyler is Steven Tyler's daughter...makes sense he made the song for the movie with his daughter in it.
Despite every single blatant inaccuracy.....still love the movie.
What a movie that can make people cry too hahah.
Oh I saw the title and got excited! Still need to watch Se7en! Will be the greatest reaction EVER!
Watching your reactions is like watching the most chaotic car wreck ever... its cringy but you just can't quit watching... and I mean that in the best way possible lmao
“What did I sign up for?”
You signed up for a Michael Bay movie. Meaning you’re getting explosions, slow-mo, and over saturation. With campy acting of some famous people. So, enjoy!!
I learned you never want to be in the crack during an ass-quake …. Facts.
It took one Michael Bay movie to cause Nikki to have a full psychological breakdown when it was over. 😂
I miss Michael Clark Duncan, and Lev is my favorite character.
Also, it cracks me up that Deep Impact, another asteroid movie packed full of recognizable faces came out the same year. Maybe even the same summer. There was a period of a few years where we got multiple movies with similar plots as each other within a few months of each other. Volcano and Dante's Peak for instance.
Was about a month between them both over the summer
Antz and A Bug’s Life
I will not survive Nikki's reaction to the ball of cheese that is Volcano.
Yeah. That's Hollywood for ya. Scripts get floated around to many studios. Sometimes a studio sees a script and won't buy it before another studio has bought it, but they like the premise and will hire other writers to make their own version of it. Then boom, two very similar movies come out in the same year.
@@glennwelsh9784 I've heard it denied, but I'm still pretty sure that Once Upon a Time only happened because someone tried to make a tv show out of the Fables comics.
"talking 'bout the wrong stuff"
was a reference to the movie The Right Stuff.
So a lot of folks always say "there's no oxygen in space - therefore, there wouldn't be any explosions". However, while it is true in a way, as in, you couldn't just light a fire in the vacuum of space, in a space shuttle that is pressurized with a buttload of air/oxygen/nitrogen, all of that gas is highly combustible, and would create an explosion or fire in space until it is all completely consumed by the combustion event.
The ships come with their own supply of combustible oxygen and Billy Bob explained that their fuel is liquid oxygen (in Bay World) for thrust which creates a controlled vapor cloud of anything ignited. 🤷♀️
So glad to see this pop up on alerts today. As always great video, Great movie.
"That's no salesman, that's you daddy." Kid: 'WTF mom?'
Technical note: Spin can simulate gravity. So can acceleration. And the Moon is really, really far away. Just perspective makes it seem closer, and films make it seem closer too. Should watch "How the Universe is Way Bigger Than You Think" to see how far it really is.
16:53 well Asia's toast 😂
Deep Impact was the more "serious" sort of movie, sort of. They came out with the same thing in the same year. You watch Armageddon if you want Michael Bay Goes to Space. And you watch Deep Impact if you want Armageddon that wasnt a Michael Bay Movie.
Armageddon focuses on the space side. Deep Impact focuses on the Earth side.
"I would probably be like him." "He is so unhinged!" 😂😂😂
Regarding your “there’s no oxygen in space Michael Bay” comment, on the movie’s DVD commentary he says, “yes, i know there’s no fire in space, but come on, it looks cool and most people don’t know that.” Literally his quote.
Plus there's oxygen in the shuttle lol
@@jagger2001 implode ???
@@supreme3376 eh? There's higher pressure inside the shuttle than the surrounding space, so the air would rush out to try to equalize.
That’s one of the reasons I like Michael Bay. He’s just making fun, action packed movies for the majority. 😂
To be fair, there IS oxygen in space. It's just a very small amount (about 1%) compared to our 21%.
I gotta say, first reaction from you guys that I watch, and man, I couldn't have picked a better one. XDDD Great job guys, keep up with the good work!
If you haven't seen these movies, you should really go for them! Alien, Aliens, Predator 1 and 2, StarshipTroopers, I robot, I'm Legend, Independance Day, MIB trilogy (second is bad, but 1 and 3 are pretty good), The Core, Day after tomorrow. For now it is what comes to mind! =)
It’s so good to have you back, I watch a lot of reactions and you react like no other which is a good thing. Your in a class all your own. Great job
Nikki: How many great talented actors are in this?
Movie: Yes!
"Oh no, not the moon"
That's the moon's job. It's really good at doing that.
41:30 Actually that does happen sometimes, lol. Comet Hale-Bopp was almost simultaneously discovered by a professional (Hale) and an amateur (Bopp), which is why it has both their names on it. There's a pretty decent list of various types of astronomical discoveries that had "major contributions" from amateurs. Though, it's entirely possible that the dude in this movie was still a professional, which would explain that massive setup he had, lol (I don't recall if they actually gave the guy's profession in the movie though, so I could be wrong).
He initiated a spin on the space station, which gives it artificial gravity.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeee’s back!!! 😊
Only one reaction from you every month or two is not enough. Need more!
"Everything went awryyy!"
Love it.
If Nikki wants you to see Owen Wilson as a cowboy she needs to watch and react, if she hasn’t already, Shanghai Noon and its sequel Shanghai Knights starring Owen Wilson and Jackie Chan. They are both a mix of western, comedy, and martial arts.
😂 asquake+her screaming get out the crack!
Finally. Glad you’re back.
Armageddon is the "location" of the final battle.
These are so much fun to watch! Her pure reactions always bring me so much joy!
Omg I am so glad these are back!! lol
Who watches a Michael bay movie and expects realism? LOL
Thanks Nikki. Your Reactions are Awesome
Not sure if it was mentioned that Liv Tyler's father, Steven Tyler is the lead singer of Aerosmith, who created the theme song at the end.
Yay! New upload! Just in time for lunch, too.
The Thing you have to understand, is this Movie, “Armageddon”, came out during the same Summer as the movie “Deep Impact”, which is essentially, the Exact Same movie!!
And it Also had a huge Allstar cast as well.
And Both movies were huge hits.
It was absolutely Ridiculous!!
I love this thanks Nikki great reaction
Glad to see you back.
Armageddon is one of the most awesome films of the 90s!
“The turn radius of a Barbie dream car,” sounds like it’s from Billy Bob’s monologue about basketballs and Volkswagens.
How the review went:
"This is going to be nuts."
"This is a lot."
"This is insane."
"This is very weird."
"This is dumb."
"This is crazy."
"This is so silly!"
"This is very propagandy."
"This is wonderful."
“It’s gonna be Bruce Willis… I’m mad” - yup, unlikely hero, disregard for basic science, explosions, hit soundtrack, and even a count down clock… this was classic 90’s/00’s blockbuster.
Also, it’s a fact you’re not human if you don’t cry during this movie. I remember seeing it in theaters, all you could hear was sniffles haha. Her reaction was 100% spot on.
"Oh, Mister Bay, I have questions." Classic.
Deep impact needs to be watched so that she could compare and contrast. Both similar but different.
Great reaction as always!
Thanks for sharing with all of us. So much fun.😂
I wouldn't normally watch a reaction to this movie, but I was pretty sure that watching your reaction would be far better than the movie itself. You didn't disappoint.
Thank you, now I don't have to watch Armageddon. 😂Also good to see you two back! Hope all is well!
Yay new reaction! Rah!
rah!
God I love this channel!
"Steven Tyler".......OOOHHHHHHH ! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Your husband constantly laughing was the best. 😂
I love it. One of my favorite movies. 90s winning again. Don't care about any accuracy or "the science". Fun an entertaining for sure.
“The override, it’s been overridden.” Is one of the funniest statements made in this. I love this movie for so many moments. 😂
great reaction as always
yes! armageddon's ridiculous and so much fun. if you haven't seen these other disaster movies, i highly recommend them: deep impact, volcano, dante's peak, twister. THE ANXIETY IS OUT OF CONTROL. lol
Don’t forget the Poseidon adventure, and the airport movie’s from the 1970’s towering inferno
Oh, this is gonna be good. Let the tears flow.
😱”I’m not cut out for oil work” 😬 [8:20]
😆😆😆
As Soon as thought Richie the dog died... I thought of La Bamba.. RIIIIIIIICHHHHHHIIIIIEEEEEE lol
This one's a huge guilty pleasure. It's not good. But I always cry at the end too lol
OMG, I love how mad you got at this movie! 😂
You husbands laugh at your incredulousness is just so contagious, love it.
Armageddon has always been my favorite film of all time. I will watch it any and every single time I see it on. I watch it for a good cry.
Omigosh, I cannot unsee...😂
Seriously, if there is a more entertaining reactor, I don't know it. She is perfect.
Your reaction to this movie was great 😀
Never, ever go into the crack of an ass-quake! 😂
Is it wrong that I got giddy inside when I saw this thumbnail??? I needed this movie and reaction today. Cheers!
should go for Deep impact .... :)
So amazing to watch you watch this. 😂😂😂
"Components. American components, Russian Components, ALL MADE IN TAIWAN!"
Love it! :D
"I LOVE YOU HARRY!" tears to this day
"I want my fingers." Some of the best lines ever.
I don't know what I love more: your hilarious reactions or your glorious blonde hair.
The DVD commentary for this movie elevates it to 11/10
I'm watching the movie right now on We have Daredevil, BATMAN,and KINGPIN on the rocket ship,Blessings and HUGS! 👑💜
I forgot to mention Kilowog.
As a cap on explosions, detonation inside a pressurized vehicle would happen blowing outward, for a minimal time, before vacuum ends it. Explosions on a fuel station contained is a no brainer. Explosions on an asteroid, very possible, depending on its composition. All these explosions are possible, the time and severity would be less likely.
Steve Tylor didn't want to do the soundtrack for the movie at first, Aerosmith had fought for a long time to be recognized as a ROCK band and he didn't want to do a sappy love ballad, then they showed him footage they already shot of Liv at the monitor with Bruce Willis telling her he can't keep his promise to come back safely home. Her tears got to him, and to date is is still the bands ONLY number ONE hit. They've had a great career yes, but "I don't wanna miss a thing" is their only chart topping #1 hit so far.
Her: we did this multiple times🚀
Me: have we tho???😂💥
Bayham is simply unmatched. Everything he's done is on some level enjoyable. His original movies like the Bad Boys movies with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are all fantastic. You'd also enjoy the movie Ambulance with Jake Gyllenhaal. Oh and i can't forget The Rock that stars Nick Cage and Sean Connery
omg i loved this one LOL
I guess Nikki keeping all her fingers is the definition of Addition by Subtraction... lol
Hope all's well/been well with you guys. I kept checking back to the channel after finding it and hoping for new uploads :D
Owen Wilson's 98%/2% line was my senior quote from high-school 🤣🤣
Ok, fine. You've convinced me. I'll watch Armageddon. AGAIN.
Your reaction is giving me vibes that you just ate a super special cookie before watching lol
I fk’n love this reaction
Yay!!! I was getting worried about you guys!!!
"Are they about to get Matt Damon?" LOL
Yep so glad you kept your digits lol 😆
"Are space shuttles this agile???" 🤔 I don't know about in space, but when it was landing in atmosphere, they called it a "flying brick." Sounds pretty agile to me! 😆
Atmo and non-atmo will be pretty different. But in this film they're not actually Shuttles, they're something more advanced (X71s or something?)
Lol yeah a lot of that has to do with the fact that the practically fall out of the sky as they "glide" back to earth. Like every 100M Forward they fall 200M or something
The „Gravity Switch“ he turned on was more a Switch for the nuzzles of the space station to rotate around its axis like the centrifugal force on an carousel push you with a G force against the wall, they will feel that force as gravity in the space station to work faster and operate quicker on the space station
if you rotate something in space the centrifugal force creates the sensation of gravity, that switch turned on the thrusters that put the station into a spin, probably wouldn't work in that design scenario, but technically feasable.
Yeah, as someone who has studied astronomy and space exploration for decades, the physics do NOT check out. However, like the movie Battleship, I will look passed all of that every time because both of these movies are so much FUN! I'm glad you got to watch it. And yep, Battleship would be a worthy follow up to this one. Thanks for your reactions!
Weren't ready for that stacked cast eh 😂
