- It's Epic Siege Saturday! Each Saturday, I'll try and publish our latest(or an older but amazing) Epic Siege!
Welcome to our Epic Siege series: These videos feature some of the most massive, chaotic and sprawling siege defenses in Bannerlord ever shown on youtube. Our hardy group of seasoned warriors will join the militia forces of various cities and castles across Calradia as we try and beat back the hordes of enemies storming the gates and scaling the walls in what should be awesome, chaotic and extremely difficult siege defenses. I have started saving a select handful of the most intense sieges from my various campaigns and side series for this series and I think they'll be entertaining as hell as we try advanced tactics and use our brains AND our brawn to thwart our enemies. Subscribe if you want to see more. My goal is to share at least one per month, but probably every Saturday for most or all of the Summer.

My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.

Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods....
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...

I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:

I've also used Realistic Battle Mod in the past and highly recommend it for Ai and battle realism BUT I find the pace too slow for my taste and the AI is actually rather predictable after a half dozen battles. Still I wanted to put a plug in for it here, it's a GREAT mod and highly configurable. www.nexusmods....
Much of the music and inspiration for this and other videos in the channel are inspired by Epic History TV - probably THE best channel on youtube(and the internet for that matter) covering the Napoleonic wars. Ooh, you had a near-perfect setup of attacker siege equipment. If you had focussed down the tower on your left wall, you could have funneled them into 2 choke points (one of which was ladders), which the AI doesn't handle very well (the number of times I have seen a huge blob idling at the bottom of a single set of ladders because I blew up their siege tower...then, you just lob flaming pots into them and rack up the kills...)
That works very well too but sometimes for siege if I do that, it gets so ugly that it's not watchable for you folks lol

I mention this almost every episode. Heck, I mention it to the widow of the guy(s) that eat my javelins after the battle is won...
Sent them back to the Minor Leagues with an embarrasing sweep despite the betting odds

Used these tactics in a siege where I was only outnumbered 1200 to 500, but it still work flawlessly. Barely lost 50

every time you defend a keep i’m in awe of how fast you “put out fires” (sorry for the joke) but dude the amount of things you keep in mind at once while killing 300 guys and commanding 8 different divisions is insane
you’re seriously my favorite channel for bannerlord like i was pretty good at the game before thanks to a good amount of trial and error and some strat gaming help with his gameplay but your videos definitely leveled me up i’m competently commanding 6 divisions, using my cav to escort my shock troops and enveloping the enemy with relative ease thanks to you

I love pretty much everything you just wrote - it makes my day when I read guys out there are adding some of the tactics I'm sharing into their mix and now mauling the enemy. The game is SO deep from a combat side, it has almost unlimited potential as long as they(or someone) improves the AI. Go rip it in your keep defense and if not, be sure to check out the entire playlist on epic siege. I think it's at like 12-15 videos now!

Well I appreciate that and have been getting some pressure from the wife(amongst others). Are you already seeing ads? I tried a few weeks ago on an unlogged in youtube account and was startled to find ads running on my channel(without my permission). Maybe youtube/google just monetizes my ass whether or not I ask for a slice...
I’ve never seen an ad on your content, I think all the viewers would agree you deserve to capitalise on your content- reap the rewards of your never ending war!

Nope lots of weight lifting, gardening and massage, haven't ever had that in my fifty years of life(or eight thousand hours of axe swinging).
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Whenever I fight in long sieges like this my hands and fingers get sore. But I do have a mild case of carpel tunnel from past jobs though.

From time to time you should bring the archers to pick up arrows in front of the main gate.
In defense? You get unlimited arrows, unless I misunderstood your meaning...
bannerlord battles and sieges could be so epic if all of the troops could be rendered at once. just imagine 3000 savages in legions standing before your dorstep....
Yeah, if only the system could handle it. I do sieges sometimes with the battle size mod which allows up to 2000 enemies, but it's often unstable...

Hey absolutely amazing video, but I have a question. Do you know when you change the formation of your troops and the troops show up as bright green orbs, on my game they show up as full flags, I just want to know how to get the orbs like is it a mod or something?
This is the RTS mod that illuminates the color brighter. VERY helpful mod.
How do you get the AI to create such large armies? Once I get to late game and get a party over 300 I never get to do defensive sieges (which is annoying, since they are fun to do), since if I break in to help they run away all the time
Very-late game campaign. Usually though you should see armies well over 1000 by the mid-game.
i like playing mind games like starting a war that leads to a certain castle being weakend for me but the ai is stupid so it doesnt work allways

Sweet! Good job! That castle is a defender's wet dream. Quick question: How did you spend the time for the 50+ years before you declared a kingdom, or was there an initial attempt that ebbed and flowed over time, or did you merc for a long time to build some cash, or just let the game skip forward for a while? just curious.
Sure - I actually PLANNED an ultra-late game campaign from the get-go, so by the time my main character was level 25 or so, through smithing and merc'ing, we became a vassal for Sturgia, married into the family and started to work in the bedroom on future heirs. Then, frankly, I admit, we stalled. I had barely any army, basically fighting occasional tournaments, but often just 'waiting' in towns until the wife was pregnant, then doing the occaisonal quest and fighting tournaments, piling up loot, cash, renown and other assets.
Finally about 35 years into the game with a family of 6, we declared a kingdom, and went from there. After conquering 1/4 of the map and it was obvious it was going to snowball the rest, I declared war on everyone except Sturgia and now we've been beaten down to about 3 castles and 2 cities... The Net result of all this is LOTS of grandchildren, lots of wives of grandchildren, VERY high level companions and also very high level/mature enemy lords and kingdoms... I'm continuing the campaign again soon, and it's getting nasty, but I love the challenge. (Phew), hope that works for you :)

what steward leve are you? to have all this party size only by you
My steward skills are in the 240s, but you can assign a 'captain' as your steward and I think we have a captain with 300+ steward skills. Between that, policies and leadership, it's fairly easy to have an army of 400+.

I want to ask : what can I do to make my clan leaders stronger? I give them troups and money ant in 5 minutes they become prisoners.
Don't give up after a few losses. Early on, you'll certainly have times where your clan leaders are captured. Keep leveling up their steward/leadership/etc and as they gain experience, focus on 2-3 of these leaders, give them good troops, set them to DEFENSIVE in the party screen menu and let them level up on enemy raiders. Goodluck!

Welcome to the channel brother glad to have you! It sounds again like I need to do another weapon loadout video as these seem to be the most prominent questions. I have about 10 two-handed crafted axes left from my grandfather the Smith in the campaign so yes a lot of the axes you see us wielding are custom axes. I have learned to love a shorter faster to handed Acts both for DPS but also to always have the initiative on my opponent. Something in the range of 100 length and 95 speed is my preference although I have access that have 99, 100 and I think 102 speed those end up being too short a lot of times to be effective.
poor poor siege fodder.
Last night I fought my first 7 Brigade (Division), would have been 8 but I didn't think 5 bow cavalry were enough to keep separate so I combined them into the 7th cavalry. Combined 2 shield-skirmish Infantry, 1 shock Infantry, 3 archery (one of which are vlandian shielded crossbows) and one troop of mongral cavalry. Outnumbered 3 to 1. Using your reverse slope peek-a-boo tactic. We lost 5 men. Mid fight I swapped out my spent archers with the third reserve. The enemy routed. It was glorious! Thank you for tge tutorials. Now I need to figure out how to increase my number of companions above 9 on an xbox. 😂
Niiice! Not much like the feeling of having a complex plan, being bold enough to put it into action and then having it succeed, no? It sounds like an amalgamation of some of the tactics here and your own strategies which is just what I imagine guys doing. Making their own chili, with some seasoning from the channel. @@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I like a game that allows real world strategy and game mechanic strategy to work together. There are a lot of the game mechanic strategy that I would have been frustrated by without your guidance in these videos. The AI isn't great. Anyone who has played any strategy games has met this AI general before. But boy the look and the numbers are just amazing. There is a lot to offer the player here. We have come a long way from the old 1990s Talonsoft PC games or Heros Might and Magic, to name a few.
@@Warhead-haggis No question, and while it's not great AI, the overall combat is just fantastic, the graphics are terrific and the times of different and varied landscapes makes it a great experience...

Did you know about the mods like scatter around expanded and follow in formation (or save battle formstion, can't remember the exact name)? First one enables you to customize positions for f8 scatter order so they will behave like archers in the siege battles, and second has a toggleable follow me option for troops to follow you in exact relative positions and formations like you placed them without messing shit up. Maybe it could expand your gameplay or make some things easier
No I've never heard of this. Does the AI USE this mod too and do smarter things with their archers??

Yes and no. You won't see them go to the aero barrels they just have unlimited ammo essentially the computer system simulating they're going to the ammo barrels
Good thing Kuzaitis are weak in siege battles. That alone is typically why I don't hang on to too many of them
Not the greatest, I admit but still capable with so many archers. Lack of skirmishers hurts though.
@HeadlessHorsemanProductions I'd have to look at the stats again, but I think they also have the weakest shields out of all the T5 infantry
As if there is only one Acess Point, or almost none uses the second ladder, just like in good ole Warband.

You don't think so? I know for my own self, it's taken me many months to get good at bannerlord. Maybe I'm not very good at games if it's easy to others, but in my own experience this game has a huge learning curve and a lot of room for expanding skill through practice.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions No I don't think it is, it's easy the ai doesn't even do basic strategy so it's so easy to out smart then. They just throw waves of dudes to the meat grinder without thinking.
I like your videos. But maybe they are a little bit too long. If you keep then with a maximun of 30 min. Maybe more people would see them.

I appreciate the feedback! I'm still working on some shorter videos, but these huge battles are necessarily large/long. I do have more shorter vids coming but the 'algorithms' don't seem to find them very popular yet, at least not for me. Thanks for the kind words...

You can smash up the tower with your axe and 330 2h perks with up attack

Good to know - but I sometimes even LET the enemy have one tower otherwise the battle takes forever and is pretty anti-climactic.
As a Khuazit member. They suck at sieges cause all their foot troops suck compared to the rest. The best thing about Khuazit are the Cavs but without their horses they ain’t scary. Also their castles are really easy to defend. I forget the castle name but you can legit build a ballista and easily shoot the group waiting for the ladders 😂. I feel like no matter what their numbers are they always lose on sieges
I think if you fight in a similar matter to how we did here, even with the Khuzait it should work. They ARE at a disadvantage in keep defenses though I agree.

Lots more epic sieges coming as I have now searched the map for great cities and made defenses of about a quarter of the cities in the game. Maybe half of that quarter are worth sharing, and after processing/editing, so I will :)

How did they get armys Like this?
My campaign is an extremely late-game in which all Kingdoms are mature, have lots of money and the lords are high level. 3000+ troops in a single army is not uncommon.
