Somewhat agree, actually. The tire manufacturers put a number (weight) on the sidewall of the tire that is a maximum amount of weight that a tire should have on it((tire weight rating)) without being in danger of failure. CVSA says, this does not apply to permitted loads because they will be operated at lower speeds to mitigate the risk(you also cannot permit a reduceable load for weight**) I question this because the permitted loads don't seem to go noticeably slower...also they now allow milk to have a weight permit, how is milk non-reduceable? Couldn't you load less milk ie reduce it?

Pre/post trip.says it all. It's not the trucks, it's the drivers. They need to do a drivers safety blitz. Reading, speaking, knowledge, safety inspection knowledge, traffic safety knowledge, ect.
I always wondered what would happen if I don’t assist them in the Inspection? Like shaking the steering wheel and doing the turn signals brakes etc. I’m basically incriminating myself… what’s the legality to refusing to help them ??
Don't piss off the inspector! Always make sure lights work before you roll out of the truck stop. Always got fairly good tires, and polite. Then if they catch you, like maybe a trailer you just picked up has bad brakes, maybe they are good enough to get you to the next truck stop to get them fixed. Try to smooth things over if you can, They got a job and a boss, too.

I am still super mad about traffic court not being held accountable. When the judge says why should I believe you over my sworn officer. This is exactly why, because you are trying to take my money.
It’s 💯 a money grab. If it wasn’t, those enforcing these regulations would also be responsible for the same fines they impose on others. Does the officer get fined when their vehicle doesn’t pass inspection? Do they pay a fine for low air pressure in a tire? Do they pay a fine for driving in a flat tire to the service station for air or repair? Does the officer get fined if their tail lights aren’t working? Does the officer get fined for clerical errors on their paperwork? Yet drivers get put out of service and fined for all of these and much more everyday.
I'm tired of the truck drivers driving aggressively, and they need to be stopped and held accountable for their actions! It feels like a Mad Max movie on today's roads ☠️☠️☠️☠️
I agree,30 years out there and I got out early because of over zealous dot, super truckers running over people and The flip flop/ pajama wearing non english speaking steering wheel holders.
YOU ARE CORRECT!!! It's all about the money! It's unfortunate that a disclaimer is needed "I too support safety" but it isn't about safety. A RI state trooper went off on me during a "safety" check when I pointed to a mistake in the lettering on his vehicle. I told him the saying "to serve and protect" was misleading, it should say "REVENUER" I should have kept my mouth shut, let's just say things didn't get any better for me. My solution is to not participate in their "SAFETY BLITZ" I make sure I take a vacation during it.
It's getting more and more difficult to get your truck professionaly repaired. Every time my truck goes in the shop, it cost over $1000. The last time at freightliner $1700. Joplin charges $200 an hour. Yea, I know dealers charge more, but damn! It was for an air leak and electrical problem. Then, if you use smaller shops you might end up with worse service. Drivers are hurting enough. At least my stuff is paid for.
Let's be honest. If they did not do the brake check week there would be drivers out there driving with cooked brakes, metal to metal on brake pads/shoes. If everyone did their pretrip properly and got their maintenance done we would not have these blitz weeks. Usually driving 100 to 800 miles will not makes good brake friction material go bad. Possibly hitting something in the road that was big enough to rupture a brake line or a tire, but you should pull over asap to check on those instances. Let's be honest, if 100% of drivers passed 100% of inspections then we would have a basis to say we do not need them. But until we do, we will need them.
I would have liked to see 95%+ on a brake check This large..... That means out of 3 million trucks there's a little over 250,000 probably more, trucks on the road that have faulty brakes..... A few years ago I would have said this is nothing more than a money grab but lately with some of the big crashes involving trucks with faulty brakes that have killed multiple people and the trucks that I see on the road I'm starting to see a problem develop......
Some of the trucks i see at truck stops amazes me they are on the road. Brakes broken and hanging down, lights that don't work. Bald tires... It's scary thinking they are driving next to you
🎉 I was expecting it to be worse than 87% passed. I’m glad that they did it. The sad thing was it was more power units than trailers that had cracks or contamination. Yes it’s a pain getting the brakes done, on the other hand today’s drivers do not use the motor to slow the truck down. Now in no way is this their fault, (okay maybe) But with all current company’s pushing for automatic transmissions most likely drivers that never drove a manual transmission do not know nor was taught how to catch gears going down hills in the western states. If looking at the statistics most of the pulled trailers were fine it was the power units that wore lacking. That could be driving habits. Not using or understanding how to use the engine retarder correctly. Hay if anyone is skipping on safety. You do not need to be a professional driver or driver a commercial vehicle for that matter. What do I know I’m just a driver. Keep it up Alex. 🎉🎉🎉
I am with you on the safety. But DOT has to be more human. We make mistakes. There’s drivers out there who should deserve a second chance on driving over a one time fail drug screen. DOT should be more flexible. They should have a rule where if you fail a one time drug screen you get a second chance if you miss the second drug screen you will be suspended for the five years.
When it comes down to it, the driver is responsible for a safe truck! The percentage of pass should have been higher. The biggest problem is drivers not taking pride in being a professional truck driver.
As someone who actually does my Pre-trip and Post-trip inspections every day I want say it's really hard to say if the percentage that passed or failed the DOT brake inspections is related to doing quality Pre-trip or Post-trip inspections. It is almost impossible to see every brake component without taking the tires off your truck and trailer. I remember a post you had awhile back that said something like 10-20% of drivers actually do their inspections. That's as scary as the amount of 4 wheelers on the road that wouldn't pass a DOT inspection if they had one.
100 inspects in Mexico 2000 in the Great White North 12000 in the states with 3 to 1 brake violations On the tractor not the trailer Low rates make for low maintenance dollars available
THey are missing the ones that count, my truck right now needs leaf spring bushings. We haul up to 129k lbs…. Company has a 75% out of service rate. I feel that commercial vehicle enforcement should do an audit of trucks that aren’t seated but listed as road ready at company level. It’s not always the truck driver that’s at fault, the mechanics at this company get mad when you write stuff up like shocks that are factory’s original on a truck with 655k miles on it. Clutches slipping, worn out bushings, etc.
They really think they are doing something hahaha you can perform all of the pre-trip and post trip inspections you want at the end of the day. If something wants to break crack bend get loose, or just in general fail then it's going to happen. There's nothing that you could do about it at the end of the day. They're always going to pull drivers in. They're always going to say it's in the name of safety, but yet I log every one of my pre-trips every single day and I still got to be pulled on there for a level 1 to a level 3 inspection just to make sure that I'm safe and in compliance with. Regulations doesn't make any sense. It's all about money at the end of the day and the only way to truly get away from it is if you stop truck driving
Oklahoma is definitely a money grab. I do heavy haul, 12 axles 125ft long 16ft tall and 250klbs. It costs me n my company $1800 to cross the panhandle of 38 miles where Texas costs $490 for the 700 to 900 miles from Houston to Gruver where I leave the state. Oklahoma is definitely a racquet
The other problem my brother on law mention to me is the problem is the drivers that didn't pass over 50% of them didn't know their inspection requirements. They didn't know that brake drums and rotors could not have noticeable heat cracks, and they didn't know how to do a proper air brake test. And some could not converse with the inspector so he has to call and wait for someone to come.
I have a serious problem with the new disc brake systems. I have been raising hell at my current employer about this. The drivers havent gotten any training on adjustment or inspection of disk brakes. Were told the shop inspects and checks adjustment at the time of services. Meanwhile my safety and the safety of the motoring public is on the hook that some shop rookie who one day hopes to become a certified mechanic did his job correctly. Im still the one to receive citations for an inspection i cant conduct without a lube pit if anything is amiss. Granted the disk brakes seem to be a huge leap forward in terms of functionality. But you still can overheat them and cause total brake failure. There is a minimum pad thickness. And there are automatic adjusting parts that can and do fail. We recently had a trucks brakes fail and just like with drum brakes the maxi brakes fail if the system has stopped working. In our situation the driver was able to use a ditch to stop the truck without hurting anyone.
I moved to Georgia and I am trying to get my IRP. I didn't think it would be this hard. I send all the documents listed and they come back to me with other requests. This happened many times. Has this happened to any of you? I'm tired of this situation. I need to go back to work and I can't.

Dot needs to go after these small companies who under pay their drivers, don’t have real mechanics and don’t pay for permits… mostly construction companies
Among the trucks that failed, is there any commonality such as issue, trucking company, part of the country, nationality of the driver, etc.? We need some statistical data on the results of all these inspections.
Revenue generation 101 plain and simple. Why don’t they stop every car on the road of course stop because our fines are twice sometimes three or four times as much as a car.
Pretty bad when that many trucks are unsafe on the roads that our families and loved ones drive on. Exactly why we have these checks. Quit blaming the government and blame the crappy sanchez and flip flop drivers. Do your job it isn't hard

So glad I'm out! Do miss the road but not this BS. Companies don't care about the equipment and will slow roll repairs and you get the fine! Before anyone says you are the captain and can shut down stop being high and mighty. It takes a month plus without a check to move on and you will blow money just getting home from whatever 1,000 mile terminal the company abandoned you at
I think the DOT should focus more on B1 visa holders who are illegally taking loads within the U.S. instead of targeting American drivers who are trying to make a living and paying taxes. It’s unfair that these drivers are operating illegally, and it hurts the U.S. drivers who are following the rules
87% gets a B grade. Drivers need to keep those numbers well below 10%, preferably below 3-5% out of service before we boast about drivers being true professionals. Better compensation attracting better quality drivers would help a lot.
If it were about educating drivers, then states would implement driver training for four-wheelers in how to drive around tractor-trailers and test that on their written exam portion of the driver's test... That is, if it were about that... Like the Federal Reserve, the CSA is a private entity too many politicians saw as a way to control the trucking industry... It would be interesting to see which politicians got kick-backs by whichever lobbyists who got this shit show pushed on the industry back in the day...

Pre/post trip.says it all. It's not the trucks, it's the drivers. They need to do a drivers safety blitz. Reading, speaking, knowledge, safety inspection knowledge, traffic safety knowledge, ect.
Do you know how much time that would take with each driver they would never do that!!
As a driver, how do you inspect your brakes without a 2nd person to help?
How many citations for improper footwear?
Why are you worried about another man toes?
Ya all the camel jockeys it's pathetic
Sandals no socks in the winter 😂 smh
@IsraelAwakened1000 we don't want to see that weak feminine junk. What kind of man are you wanting to show your onion bunions 😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks Alex!
Safety is number 1 in my book!!
Money is number one in their book
87% passed and 13% FAILED NOT GOOD
I always wondered what would happen if I don’t assist them in the Inspection? Like shaking the steering wheel and doing the turn signals brakes etc. I’m basically incriminating myself… what’s the legality to refusing to help them ??
I agree with you. No one helps us do our inspection.
@@camperjack2620 that’s the problem why am I supposed to worry about his emotions he’s supposed to be fair regardless if I’m in a bad mood or not , his job is to inspect the truck not my attitude… anyways my question was do I have to assist them in there job ? Is there a law saying I have too and if so I want a penal code
All I gotta say is THANK YOU DRIVEWYZE!!!
It feels like a Mad Max movie on today's roads ☠️☠️☠️☠️
look at what's in the seat, tells all
I agree,30 years out there and I got out early because of over zealous dot, super truckers running over people and The flip flop/ pajama wearing non english speaking steering wheel holders.
Cars to
Money grabs is correct.
Safety is not important to these scumbags Never was just the money
He should be 100% because there is no room for not having good breaks
Highway racketeering
The oversize permit thing. My mind just translates it to "Toll fees, and admin fees."
Great video thanks 🙏🏽
They looked at 16k out of 3m trucks on the road. Sounds like a money grab to me.
It's scary thinking they are driving next to you
Dont leave out duct tape
Sounds like to me companies are actually fixing the things the drivers are catching in a timely manner.
This is very interesting about CVSA, are you saying that they have no legal authority?
Thxs Alex
I am with you on the safety. But DOT has to be more human. We make mistakes. There’s drivers out there who should deserve a second chance on driving over a one time fail drug screen. DOT should be more flexible. They should have a rule where if you fail a one time drug screen you get a second chance if you miss the second drug screen you will be suspended for the five years.
When it comes down to it, the driver is responsible for a safe truck! The percentage of pass should have been higher. The biggest problem is drivers not taking pride in being a professional truck driver.
I think 12% is too many And having the check and now before winter is a good idea before they're dealing with snow and icy roads
The government or the state get a cut out of it, the money from the truck drivers
100 inspects in Mexico
2000 in the Great White North
12000 in the states with 3 to 1 brake violations
On the tractor not the trailer
Low rates make for low maintenance dollars available
Id say its not good that 13 out of every 100 trucks are unsafe
Foreigner's
THey are missing the ones that count, my truck right now needs leaf spring bushings. We haul up to 129k lbs…. Company has a 75% out of service rate. I feel that commercial vehicle enforcement should do an audit of trucks that aren’t seated but listed as road ready at company level.
It’s not always the truck driver that’s at fault, the mechanics at this company get mad when you write stuff up like shocks that are factory’s original on a truck with 655k miles on it. Clutches slipping, worn out bushings, etc.
Money makers like BLM...CARBS...HOA...and so on... Freaking smart way to make a lot of money
Join these losers then.
What about WLM or MAGA🤷♂️🤦♂️
Our roads not theirs we the people paid for the roads and still paying for them ! Police etc are going to get a big ole bite of prison time for doing illegal shit like this ! They best start reading their Manuel’s and conform or else go to prison !
I'm going to ask everybody a question do you forget The pursuit of happiness which is in our constitution will I have slowly chipped out of way through everything and everybody spot time for us to redress our government and restart over and I mean that with a vengeance wake up America
dot got me for amber headlight being slightly discolored
Wow
Cheap bullshit paint from China that disintegrates after a week
Headlights are white. Not amber.
@@josh_a58 parking light bulb or running light bulb is amber
Rates are to low...no money....raise rates better maintenance...simple
87 percent is like a C on a report card. So 13 out of 100 trucks have screwed up brakes. Encouraging?
@@gb9719 When I went to school 87 was a C +...I'm sure with DEI the standards have been relaxed so they can include more people from many diverse backgrounds.
@@cantstandapinko 😂😂😂
Sounds like to me we’re doing an excellent job not taking cheap freight- can’t go anywhere so you should have good brakes
Who’s going to inspect the self driving trucks ??
They should do blitz on the four wheeler.
They are thieves with diploma, but if truckers continues playing this game with them this is not gonna stop, sometimes truckers need to get a lawyer to sue them and then this will stop.
Half of the dot. need to educate them selves
Just pulling over mostly American drivers at random and pulled over more in 2024 than I've been pulled over in my entire Trucking career three times in one week
I'd like to see education for all drivers on proper merging.
That's also illegal to speed up to avoid being passed.
That cutting in front of a semi, or brake checking.
Could endanger you and other motorists.
For God's sake put down the cell phone.
Don't lane hop, and use your blinker.
I say bring it on! I need DOT to inspect my equipment in order for my company to get a better insurance rate 😎
Dot needs to go after these small companies who under pay their drivers, don’t have real mechanics and don’t pay for permits… mostly construction companies
They were pulling them over left and right on I 80 thru Chicago
If they aren't targeting non-english speakers...it's about money.
OF COURSE ITS A MONEY GRAB JUST LIKE GOING TO YOUR LOCAL DMV AINT NOTHING FREE AT DMV BUT THE DMV BOOKS AND APPLICATIONS
Needs to be under 10%
They got me In Lordsburgh for that, I passed.
Alll about money n political power and brain washing!
But we must obey be safe til the lords rise soon !Obey the laws of the land Yes even under the wicked!Be safe n Faith fwrd always.
I quit i got tired of being fleeced every day then bullyed becouse there the law. Not ever reasenabl unless there ticketing you.
Among the trucks that failed, is there any commonality such as issue, trucking company, part of the country, nationality of the driver, etc.? We need some statistical data on the results of all these inspections.
87% is pretty good 👍
Revenue generation 101 plain and simple.
Its just like the "National Registry " for ems personell, its a 3rd party company that lobbied govt officals for "standardization in the industry"
They should inspect all roads too California bumpi ride😢😢
All the I-10 from Salome to Blythe. It’s atrocious
These bastards were working past 10pm in Sacramento, California. I drive tankers, and past level 1 with no problems, but it added and extra 1 hour and 10 minutes to my day. I’m hourly, but I wasn’t trying to do 14 plus hours. My route was already long enough.
"poopoo peepee."
-CVSA Representatives motto.
Can’t stop laughing when you said Mexico😂😂😂
So glad I'm out! Do miss the road but not this BS. Companies don't care about the equipment and will slow roll repairs and you get the fine! Before anyone says you are the captain and can shut down stop being high and mighty. It takes a month plus without a check to move on and you will blow money just getting home from whatever 1,000 mile terminal the company abandoned you at
That’s too Low of a percentage
I think the DOT should focus more on B1 visa holders who are illegally taking loads within the U.S. instead of targeting American drivers who are trying to make a living and paying taxes. It’s unfair that these drivers are operating illegally, and it hurts the U.S. drivers who are following the rules
Money grab!!!!
87% gets a B grade. Drivers need to keep those numbers well below 10%, preferably below 3-5% out of service before we boast about drivers being true professionals. Better compensation attracting better quality drivers would help a lot.
What was last year's numbers and the year before that ? Is this an improvement of just a fluke ?
Good video dude :)
But they don’t do anything to regulate brokers scamming drivers
Absolutely cero , nada
