David, if you'll forgive the rail-fanning... I learned nearly all of my techniques from watching you on MRVP. I could watch you teach MRR forever, but, I gotta go build some stuff on my layout! Thanks David!
I was talking about when he was using the awl, he was using the knife correctly. He has his right hand in front of the awl when he was putting the nail in. See 8:20 onwards.
Gotta remember, there are many ways to skin a cat, so to speak. Some better then others, but this is just one way, and some times, a utility knife is all you have. There are a bunch of tools, and methods for cutting material. Although i agree with you, Im just playing devils advocate here. *edit* Also remember, this is for a small table layout ment for children to use, and probably not for a more permanent basement empire.
And let's keep an open mind re construction materials whilst building that railroad. Flat pieces: plywood is traditional, but is currently expensive, and it needs to be thick if you're using screws. A whole different system offers economy, ease of handling, and speed of construction: posterboard and contact cement.
You are so dangerous! Why did you have the point towards you when using the awl. It could have slipped and you could have stabbed yourself. It's just like drilling a hole towards your body. Alway, when using a sharp tool point it away from your body. Would you chisel towards yourself, I don't think so.

This would be a great idea for any basic layout, Im going to use this as my 1st layout.

Very good review.

Great video! I will need this video for my new layout table!
My first layout will be a larger layout of this style, thanks for the video
Another good way to get rid of a hammer dent is with a warm damp sponge. The dampness will cause the dented spot to swell back to it's original shape.
Why is that intro song soooo funky and why am i the only one talking about
Interesting procedure for cutting. When you are at the home center buying clamps, buy a Skill Saw and do not use an utility knife. Good Luck
I use a jig saw for cuts like that. The Skil saw I use for my 1 by 4 boards

Let’s be clear. When gluing, clamping does not activate glue. It merely holds while glue dries. Hope you fixed that shaky hands problem.
0:24 my first ho train set
same, my brother put a piece of red sowing string on the track and I ran over it not knowing and lost that thomas on the first day I had it.
On the black ez track turn outs , are the turn outs DCC friendly ?

A train set can also be made using separate sale items, I made an ho scale train set for my sister's boyfriend & on for her boyfriend's cousin

I know you can get it at Hobby Lobby for around 130 bucks.
I am building a 54“ x 30“ train table and I was wondering what pieces of wood I would need and what size is it in feet
