what do you mean with "professional"?
I'm a commercial fisherman, a charter boat operator and a boat & yacht broker.
Following seas are very difficult to manage with a boat with deep and log keel as these have
What could help is enough engine power to not be slower than the following sea and enter the inlet before the waves break.

scurpenin he means making proper choices nothing about handling or being able to control the sea.

Demand that your government dredge a new outlet for the river. The old outlet is a now a lower risk harbour. Or dredge a new harbour. Easy.

I have been in a situation just like the one in this footage @2.44 going through the bishops heading back too Bluff and when it happened I had already accepted that we would turn over and getting out the wheelhouse was the first thing on my mind...I am no hero but too be honest we had no time to shit ourselves survival mode kicks in...when we came out of it the right way up we all laughed about it after wards..our boat wasn't small either 68ft alloy cray-boat.
