    Thanks for this great video. My 2001 tie rod end just popped off the driver side while I was at home in the yard - NOT on the highway!!! From one Canadian Tire fan to another!

      Don't hesitate to ask questions!
      We just returned home from a road trip involving hot weather (104-119F) and lengthy (hours) of 2nd and 3rd gear 3500-4500rpm climbing. Quite the abuse on the vehicle! I need to change my shocks soon :)

    Hi, I am doing the same job, I noticed that you used two floor jacks, one to lift the van and the other(yellow) was used to support the lower control arm. correct me if I am wrong, but you used the yellow floor jack to keep the level and straight the tie rod ends. right?

    What fixed the steering wheel issue?
    I have the same problem i have to turn the wheel for the van to go straight.

    • @AbrahamChan88
      @AbrahamChan88  Год назад

      In my video, what I showed fixed the wheel wobble and tightened the steering wheel. Your short comment issue description, though you say it is the same, sounds more severe and is difficult to make suggestions without more details ... Feel free to comment again with much more details.

    Did you take the vehicle to get a front end alignment at a shop?

    • @AbrahamChan88
      @AbrahamChan88  3 года назад

      Yes I did! As per the video, you can get quite aligned at home, however, safety first and as this truck is used a lot for ... Distance speeding (hahaha) I paid the professionals for a proper 4 wheel high speed assignment and disclosed the rain why. I did it at my local GM service center and they did a great job for the expected amount ~$100. It was very nice to do with them as they confirmed what needed to be adjusted which was just a midget of turn on the tie rod :)

    Is this how you do both sides??

    • @AbrahamChan88
      @AbrahamChan88  4 года назад +1

      Yes, indeed. Watch the video, use the jack stand on the front swaybar arm as I showed, it will save you a heck of a lot time and muscle energy lol

    thanks man I’m going to have to do this without the pickle fork as I need it done ASAP. Wish me luck. Also how did you remove the pin?

    • @AbrahamChan88
      @AbrahamChan88  3 года назад

      Pulled with pliers. Yikes, I hope the job goes okay, the pickle fork really makes the job super quick... As per the video.

      Got it out and everything went ok the last step on the inner tie rod I got to tighten the nut back on and the nut won’t go on all the way it just keeps spinning the tie rod when I try and go past a little way can you help why does it keep spinning when I try and tighten ?

    • @AbrahamChan88
      @AbrahamChan88  3 года назад

      @@startingtech3900 Are you able to use two wrenches with one as the "holder" or to turn opposite ways? I believe your note about spinning the tie-rod is the sleeve itself to connect the outer and inner tie rod, in my video you can see there are two nuts on the sleeve to "clamp" down on, I think you mean the nut closes to the tie rod? Is it stripped? =( if it is not, eyeball the diameter thickness of the old inner tie rod vs the newer inner rod; is the newer rod thicker, if yes, it is causing the gapping you have and the nut cannot screw on =(

    so you must need alignment after replacement ?

    • @AbrahamChan88
      @AbrahamChan88  3 года назад

      You should; it is for safety especially at higher speeds. In the video, I give a very brief explanation of trying to keep things the same length (but keep in mind, the old may be out of alignment already). The alignment shop said it was quite good as is but they made adjustments with the laser guides which helps at high-speed =). For reference, it was about $90 CAD.

    what is steering link bolt torque in spec?

    • @AbrahamChan88
      @AbrahamChan88  3 года назад

      There are several bolts, so rather than give you a single number, in the video watch from 7:35 onwards - I point out torque needs of the tie rod; the steering link 15:00 I don't mention any torque spec because my install isn't standard nor did the instructions have any numbers but the Chilton's book is saying 13ftlbs (17Nm). Hope that helps!
