Greg Vandy, host of The Roadhouse on KEXP, talks to Gillian Welch at the first ever No Depression Festival at Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA, on 7/11/09.
I'm Dutch. There was a moment in my life when I discovered American traditional folk music. From that time on this kind of music never left my soul anymore. I love Gillians music and her fine and intelligent face.
She says "old time, bluegrass and brother team music"....she refers to brother duets such as the Louvin Bros, the Blue Sky Boys, the Stanley Bros, etc....
Shes awesome! The interview is great as well(when she becomes more relaxed) Sound is ok for the location (location isn't great) but the camera work lets it down, get a tripod and learn how to focus, turn off that fucking auto! quit zooming too... damn it!
I am a big fan of the magazine but who the fuck is this Greg Vandy dude? Dont get me wrong, he seems cool, id do blow with him, but this interview thing ain't his bag. It doesnt help they're standing in the middle of a field to increase the akwardness. Gillian Welch just basically interviewed herself.

Good enough interview. Hope the person running the camera eventually learned how to use it.
