I disagree that this is the best ending, since if you play as Origin character Gale and choose to become a Mindflayer and return the crown of Karsus to Mystra, then Mystra will restore your soul and let you come with her to Elysium (Heaven).
I think letting Wyll and Karlach tag team through the hells is a great ending (especially if you didn't romance Karlach). Considering how they each started their arcs, it's a great full circle for them to be best friends fighting Zariel together.
Playing as origin Wyll and bounding across the plains of Avernus with my GF Karlach couldn't have made me happier. Especially learning in the epilogue that there is legitimate hope for fixing her engine. Seeing the two of them together doing everything they can to break free of their demonic enslavers was the best ending I could have hoped for my first playthrough.
I had Wyll and Karlach together and they went to Avernus. In the epilogue she mentioned something about it not being so bad since she's with the one she loves. My Tav was with Astarion so I know she didn't mean me!
I played a male elf archer and Karlah was my gf, and I let her go with Wyill cause she is stronger then me and Wyll according to his endless effort to sleep with me is g4y and I dont have to worry about Karlah cheat on me, no regrets.
@chiprahn This may seem like it at first glance, but the truth is that Zariel made a trap. If you think about it, this is the only solution because it is not normal that some random imp had information about the diagrams. Still a good basis for dlc
Although not the canon MC, Gale origin becoming a mind flayer is pretty good too since you can be cured and your soul returned once you go and see Mystra.
Three months ago i finally had the epilogue scene. It was mostly similar to this video. My best ending: - Lae’zel remained in Faerun, proud foster mom to Xan, but still hunting Vlakkith^^ - Shadowheart converted to Selune, still cursed by Shar, but reunited with her parents 🌙 - Jaheira reconciled with her children, but still high harper - Minsc made peace with Nine fingers, wasn’t in jail and teaching a halfling thief how ro be better 😂 - Karlach went to Avernus with Wyll, but with hope of healing - Wyll, pact broken and reunited with his father. Went to Avernus, still hunting Mizora^^ - Astarion, or better spawn Astarion trying to be an adventurer and hero - Halsin, watching a bunch of Orphans. But i made him adopt the Owlbear - Gale, Waterdeep professor, Karsus crown given to Mystra, orb healed and happily married to my character ❤ This game really taught me, sometimes it isn’t the best what you want. It’s what is best for your friends/ partner ;)
@@VideoGameSophistry Karlach is the best Romance for Wyll, Shadowheart is best for good Durge(amnesiacs who redeem themselves) and Minthara is best for evil Durge
My opinion: - Played as human (not dark urge) and tried to complete everyone's questline with the most positive and fair outcome (like the gondians thing, saving the tieflings, killing the hag, defeating raphael, all that Thorfinn stuff) - Romanced shadowheart (preference) and had unique cutscenes with her (Karlach one is the same with you or if wyll alone).By the way, her parents didn't wanted to be free but see her daughter eternally cursed. Also told her to listen to her heart so, that was her choice - Orpheus turned and Laezel went on her road to take down the queen - Astarion didn't ascended and I saved the vampire spawns - Gale didn't took the crown neither exploded with the orb, so he is a teacher living a happy live - Karlach went to Avernus with wyll and found a clue that might lead her to a solution to her heart - Wyll became the blade of Avernus, as this was his personal choice and felt very proud of it - Jaheira, Minsc and Halsin were happy and following their objectives - Owlbear is with me and shadowheart
You forgot Minthara. With Patch 5 you can recruit her without going down an evil path. I honestly feel you should update this video to take that into account.
Idk if it’s patch 6 being bugged or what happened with my game, but when I knocked out minthara, it bugged my game and made the grove get attacked (without me being able to help) Bugged out Zevlor Bugged out Halsin And they all died off screen
I also think a Durge romance with shadowheart fits very well, in her ending as she also says how she regrets the actions she did in the name of Shar and that related a lot to how my Durge as he also resisted the Urge through the entire playthrough and felt deep regret of his past atrocities. Another factor is how it feels like both of them found peace with each others companionship and etc.. But any Karlach romance is extremely valid! Oh and Orpheus not being able to take full control of the rebellion against Vlakith is good because as a direct descendent of Gith he will inevitably try to conquer all the galaxy hehe
I only would change wyll as he would be our friend in avernus because being an adventurer seems more fit to him than being a grand duke. He enjoys being blade of avernus.
My ending- As a Tiefling Sorcerer Neutral Good Aligned and with an insurmountable selflessness as a personality. Helping people and need and screwing over the wicked. Romanced Astarion with Halsin on the side. Did the good endings for each of the companions. Astarion didn’t Ascend, Shadowheart broke free but ended her parent’s suffering, Gale didn’t become a God, Laezel turned from Vlaakith, and Wyll kept his pact and remained as the Blade. Promised Karlach to be with her when her time comes. Halsin saved the Shadowlands. Jaheria and Minsc reunited and met Jaheria’s family. Saved all the possible npc’s I could, Tieflings, Mayrina, Isobel, Dame Aylin, Hope, etc Cut to Raphael, I took the deal to please Laezel but later broke it to save Gale so he could take the crown to Mystra. Now for the ending, when it came time to free Orpheus, I decided to become a mind flayer myself because it was in character to put everyone else before myself. Sure I didn’t want to become a mind flayer either but my Tav would sooner see himself a Mind Flayer than Karlach, or even Orpheus for that matter. After the brain was dead, I was ready to kill myself to not have to suffer myself or put the others at risk, until I remembered my promise to Karlach and stayed alive, then when she was about to die I went back with her to Avernus as a Mind Flayer. During the Epilogue everyone was alive and happy in their lives and so happy to see me. When the work is done and Karlach and all my friends are all happy and safe, then my Tav can finally rest, knowing everything he did was worth it in the end to see their smiles. Unless Larion adds some crazy mind flayer cure in a dlc somewhere then I can stay alive and return to Astarion.
For Karlach i‘m still hoping for the ending she wanted. Still she says she wants to live and wants to stay As for Gale. As a companion i like the Waterdeep professor best. He seems most content like that and if romanced even happier, too sweet ❤
If you encourage Astarion to persuade the underdark and lead the 7k spawn there, he will actually become a just leader, rebuild a ruin he found down there for their comfort („it’s not a castle but maybe someday it could be“), burn down Cazadors castle up to the dungeons, help the spawn to feed on things in the underdark while making sure, they don’t feed on the innocent and he learns to care for them deeply („I care for my people, I finally care for others than myself“). All while also getting (mostly unwanted) support from Minsc and still trying to find a cure for sun immunity. He also is kind of embarrassed about it „I wouldn’t say they are in good hands just yet, but they are in hands“. He will also admit that he missed the gang and he won’t say goodbye to Tav, he will only settle for „see you later…darling“. The funny thing is, if you romance him, his ending will only benefit him, as he just travels with you, either to seek a cure or to the underdark as well and you will not get as much info. However if you also do not romance Karlach and Wyll, their ending isn’t bad either, as they travel together through Avernus to get the engine blueprint (so in any case Karlach isn’t alone) and finally fight the fight for the just which a) is what they both wanted and b) leads up to a cool sequel perhaps. Imagine fighting the gods and Zariel for real, this time with a 7k spawn army and all of Baldur (and Gale of Waterdeep) to back you up. (I also dig the enemies to friends to lovers (?!) thing Karalach and Wyll have going on). So I am super happy actually with my forever alone ending 😂
With Wyll in Avernus with Karlach, they work together incredibly well. They both have something to gain out of it too. Wyll is searching for a way to free himself from the pact whilst helping Karlach find a way to make her engine not blow up.
I feel like Orpheus has to live as he is the only one who can actually stop the illithids from reconquering the Gith. This requires Gale to give the crown back to Mystra, so he can become the illithid and survive mostly intact, but otherwise it all fits nicely.
My best ending for me: - I played as a Dark Urge tiefling paladin - I sided with the Emperor in the final battle because I'm not going to trade the guy who protected me the entire game for the githyanki who spent the entire game trying to kill me - I had an romance with Karlach and went to Avernus with her - Shadowheart lives happily with his parents - Gale returned the crown to Mystra and became a magic teacher - Astarion became an adventurer on his ass - Jaheira reconciled with her children - Minsk didn't go to jail - Wyll was killed in Act 1 because I don't like him - Lae'zel was killed in Act 1 because I hate githyanki
I can see why this would be a good ending, but I’m so hesitant about letting Orpheus choose to become a mindflayer. The Emperor has been with you every step of the way throughout the game, but so has Orpheus. All his power has been protecting you through the game. He’s been imprisoned for so long, aware of all the ways his powers have been used, and the first thing he does when he is free is decide to make an ultimate sacrifice even after all he’s been trough.
I would say it can be even better. In act 1 you can knock-out Minthara (pommel strike) instead of killing her, then free her in Act 2 and she will also join your party.
I romance Astarion in every playthrough and my picks for best endings are pretty much the same. I have Wyll go with Karlach to Avernus. I stay with Astarion, either actively looking for a way for him to walk in the sun or managing the spawn in a cosy little castle of our own in the Underdark. I also agree that Dark Urge has the most satisfying narrative to play, but I have to argue that Durge and Astarion make a fantastic couple. I've found that he really sympathizes with Durge as they are trying to redeem, they have a lot of common ground and it could just be me but I think it deepens the relationship. He was also pretty understanding of the night I tried to kill him and even joked about it afterwards. What a guy. 😊
do you need wyll in your party for him to go with karlach to avernus? im romancing astarion too and I don’t wanna leave him, so im hoping to get wyll to go with her :)
@@isassssss he was in my party but not in the group when I fought the netherbrain and he (and the other camp party members) were at the docks and he did go with Karlach. Just play through Karlach dying (it's so hard but stick with it!) and before she burns up he'll speak up and volunteer to go with her and keep her safe from Zariel 💜
I also feel that romancing Shadowheart as Durge is a solid choice since both have had to overcome the influence or a dark deity. She even mentions how, because Durge helped her overcome Shar, she will help Durge overcome his darkness as well. I think they match very well. I also imagine that after living a violent life through Bhaal, Durge would like to live quietly and in peace
There is one small choice that you do in the game that could have been put into the final fight and that is if you save omelus the mind flayer from the society of brilliance then you can use him to stop the elder brain if you free Orpheus
I killed Raph, his domain or area of hell is free to be occupied, why didn't the game show an option where Karlach goes there if you convince her to go back. That really bugs me.
I absolutely disagree with keep Orpheus alive at the end and letting Lae'zel go to the astral plane. She is far happier being on faerun and also Voss will take over his prince duty to fight vlakit
I personally think Astarion fits better with a dark urge because there's just so many parallels between them and It's really cute seeing them learn that taking care of other people is actually really beneficial for them. That all being said carlac is absolutely my next choice for the dark urge because she is just so sweet and so supportive And it's really cute to see two people who were working with Gortash and were betrayed or we're going to be betrayed by him find companionship with each other
Wyll is completely unhappy being a Grand Duke. The story dropped enough hints that he'll only become a Duke if pressured by the player, where as if allowed to choose for himself, he would rather continue being a folk hero, lending aid to the needy in a way no Grand Duke ever could. Best option for him (and his happiness) is to break his contract with Mizora AND save his father, and allow him to continue being the Blade of Frontiers, but as a very exceptional ranger, since he goes on to defeat many powerful monsters that are harming innocents throughout the Sword Coast.
@@RUclipsChillZone If you end his contract, and have Karlach become a mind flayer (or die), then he doesn’t become the Blade of Avernus, since he doesn’t go to Avernus, he stays as the ***Blade of Frontiers, which is what I was talking about. Although, he is happiest going to Avernus with Karlach, but only while NOT being contracted to Mizora, so he can find a way to fix Karlach’s engine and hunt Mizora.
No matter how evil I become I never ever ever ever ever leave Scratch and Chubby. I adopted both of them in every playthrough. The most important thing in every playthrough....
I think every character has a "best ending," but what exactly that is depends on your character and the decisions you made throughout the playthrough. That's part of the reason I'm finding it so difficult to actually finish the game, because I'll get to Act III and find out I did something wrong 50 hours before & have to go back to the beginning to undo it...
My only three "flaws" with my first epilogue were that I became the mind flayer so Orpheus could liberate the Gith (thankfully I didn't eat anyone at the party, and Lae'zel is sent as an envoy to recruit the Githzerai and mend the cultural barrier), Gale became a god (and I roasted him for being up his ass) and, because I was playing a sneaky rogue that finds alternate paths into places, I completely missed the flag that gets the owlbear cub from the cave to the goblin camp 😭 Next playthrough, then!
I lost Wyll in act 1 as did not know about him and could not res him. I would had to have gone back quite a few saves and hard battles. So ending was me and Karlach going together and I left SH who I romanced the whole game and never left.
You are missing one really important companion, Minthara. A playthrough without her is incomplete. Also for me the intended ending is Karlach το become the mind flayer, she is dying after all, orfeus is too important to sacrifice
Spoilers...for a better ending. U missed 2 things to make it better. 1. Make sure that the gith egg is in laezel inventory before the final battle 2. I know it is sad but, You have to free shadow heart of the shar curse. So she is finally free, i know its painful but thats what her parents would want. And thats the best thing for her in the long run.
@@VideoGameSophistry I feel it depends on what your Playthrough was... In my case, I didn't interfere in any dialogues scenes in house of grief..I let shadow heart handle it...she decided to sacrifice her parents...it was her and her parents decision
@@TurnersTea The only reason her parents lived so long was just to see their daughter again and in a good playthrough not only is she alive but also rejected shars influence and went back on the selunite path like her parents. All the pains they went through were not in vain and they gladly give their lives so that their daughter can live free and happy (what theyve been doing their whole life). Saving them condems Shadowheart not only to a mortal life of pain but also her very soul to being bound to shar forever. Once theyre dead they will be seperated forever, as their souls go to selune while shadowhearts soul is forever shars.
@@TurnersTea From what I understand of the afterlife in the forgotten realms your soul is generally claimed by whichever deity you worshiped/ believed in. Gods are much more powerful than devils, but as you said devils can also claim souls with powerful magic contracts so yea it is different. She worshiped and performed rites for Shar her whole life and was even marked by her so from what I gathered she is now bound to her forever, literally reminded of her past everytime the mark goes off. Her whole good arc is rejecting shar and for the first time in her life making decisions for herself- which is why letting the parents die is the cannon good ending as it is her own decision (and the decision of the parents themselves).
Imo it is a much better ending to let Karlach die... In the epilogue Withers tells you that her soul is in the fugue plane shining so bright that the gods themselves can barely look upon her. Withers assures you that you will meet her again. She dosnt go back to Avernus a place she once said she "would rather die than go back". So you shouldnt let or convince her to. In DnD death is NOT the end! If reader is wondering, the Fogue Plane is where souls first go to be judged and sorted into other afterlives. I have no doubt Karlach will be judged well based on Withers comment on her "bright soul" I aslo speculate Karlach is waiting for you there because once you get sorted into an afterlife I dont believe there is a way to transfer into another.
If I could save Karlach AND leave with Lae'zel and Orpheus I would. But since leaving to the Astral Plane lock me out of convincing her and Wyll to go to Avernus, I had to stay in the Material Plane. i convinced Wyll to go to Avernus because I saved his father from Mizora. Sad, I really wanted to be the Mind Flayer councilor of Orpheus.
I had Karlach volunteer as tribute and become the Mindflayer instead of Orpheus. This has the benefit of letting her live without having to go into Avernus.
If u romance her, u can go to underdark, to wage wars with her againts her enemies there. Minthara at core is a ,,evil'' hero, in terms she will fight for her house.
@@Fazuchon I don’t know, the more I dig into this game the more I find redeeming qualities in almost every character. Just yesterday I was replaying again in an act one found out with true soul Nere, if you don’t just kill him right away then side with him and do his bidding you can talk to him afterwards and convince him to see the error of his ways. a whole conversation about how he was played by the absolute as well and he feels repentant and sorry I never knew was there.
I turned into a mindflayer and couldn't save karlach in the end. So I decided to go to the hells with her. Then during the party she hugged me and I failed a check and tried to eat her brains and got kicked out LOL.
Re: "spending over a hundred hours" playing the game... I've clocked around 150 hours, and I only just started Act II. Just sayin'. Also, Orpheus is just as much a hidden evil character as the Emperor in BG3. Both figures are relatively morally gray (given that Githyanki and Illithids are both unambiguously evil in D&D lore) -- Orpheus is rumoured to be "more compassionate" than most Githyanki, certainly more than Vlaakith, but is still essentially the all-powerful warlord leader of an evil race whose second priority once the Illithids are beaten will most likely be to trample and subjugate all other peoples across the galaxy. The Emperor's morality is muddied by the fact that he was originally Balduran, the hero adventurer who has always been at the heart of this story (and series). He has proven himself to be remarkably determined to break free of Illithid control, and Omellum serves as an example of how Illithids can choose to become non-evil individuals who aid others if fiven the opportunity to think for themselves.
Being forced to play as Dark Urge would have been like playing as the Nameless One in Planescape: Torment - a game I refunded after a few hours. I thought I was going to get a complex philosophical conflict, represented via a chase across the many D&D planes. Instead, I got fetch quest after fetch quest, running through the slums of Sigil and wasting time staring at the map, wondering where important NPCs were. So I guess BG3 still would have had better gameplay, but the story options would have suffered for it. Not to mention, the Dark Urge only appeals to specific types of players. The game would have had a much more niche audience if it had restricted itself to a Dark Urge protagonist.
I disagree on a few points. 1- Orpheus is better off not turning into a mindflayer. He needs all the political help he can get to overthrow Vlaakith and him being a mindflayer is a massive blow to the rebels. 2- Karlach explicitly says she would rather die than go back to avernus. Constantly fighting in hell isn't a great life. Karlach turning into a mindflayer is better. 3- For romances I disagree Karlach is the best. Assuming you're doing a good Durge run Shadow heart is just as good. She also had amnesia and had to reject shar and embrace Selune. Even sacrifice her parents due to her awful goddess. More related there. Gale, Wyll, Halsin, and Astarion are all also decent choices. I don't think it matters too much. 4- If you're willing to be selfless you becoming the mind flayer yourself is also not a bad idea and not romancing anyone. As a side point if you DON'T play Durge and play Astarion or Karlach and romance Gale, and Gale ascends, he will cure either of them. So if Karlach romances Gale she no longer has an infernal engine issue.
The problem I have with Durge is things like Alfira. You can't prevent it if you don't know it's gonna happen and once you know you can't do anything. Now that would be fine if she didn't have the quests (and rewards for those) later in the story. Events like the squirrel is fine, it's surprising and does the job but without real consequences in the story. Someone would say but hey, it's funnier if it's a character you care about but there's also an event with the character you like the most later in the story but you can prevent it if you want to know more about said character. I know you're supposed to play the game ad eternam but some people want to play the game once and explore the most of it without putting 500h and 5 playthroughs. Also the way to get the good ending is way too convoluted.
What I don't understand is why God Gale doesn't fix Karlach returning her heart and removing the engine so that she doesn't have to return to Hell. He'd have the power.
So damn close to getting an ideal goody two shoes ending my first 160hr playthrough. but Minsc’s quest being bugged to not complete in the journal after completion so he was a prisoner about to be executed. and Gale became a god, which isn’t the worst ending for him but I couldn’t stop him by asking him to stay with me. Lae went to space too but I let her decide. So happy there’s hope for Karlach if you don’t let her transform into illithid.
this is the ending i’m working towards in my current playthrough. i do get that like “best ending” is kinda silly, like obviously everyone has their own opinion and everyone’s game will be different but i definitely think this is the happiest ending for both the world and your companions. also, karlach is just the best ending period. love my big hot wife
On my first playthrough I had the option to go to Avernus with Karlach, not realizing that it was a romance ending, so I was confused why my Tav and Astarion broke up 😂
I wouldn't say no to a spinoff/sequel where the option for Tav, Karlach, and Wyll went to the hells and actually recruited Hope to round out the party. The barb, the lock, the cleric and the Tav. Pretty balanced party. The kind that could really fuck up zariel and/or tiamats day.
First time I was the good guy and romanced Shadowheart and sided with the Emperor. Second time romanced Lae'zel and sided with Orpheus killing Oprheus after defeating the brain per his request. Both endings were great. Shadowheart and her parents the owlbear and me all live on a farm with the first. In the second Lae'zel and I rode off into the sunset on red dragons. Gale gave the crown to Mystra in the first and turned into a god in the second, both cool. Astarion didnt ascend in the first and did in the second and he seemed to be happy with both. Karlach died in the first which was the worst part of that run but it is what she asked for and in the second she lived and that was a really cool surprise because I had picked the same choices for her in both since she wasnt my romance either time. If I go back for 3rd it was definitely going to be dark urge, probably resist, and absolutely trying to romance Karlach since we havent made a connection yet.
I played an Oath of Vengeance Paladin and ended going to hell for my gal. Never once used a parasite, nor killed a single person I shouldn't. Btw, the emperor is not 100% good, but I hate the Gith. Lae can be convinced to stay and she becomes a rebel. I got the best ending but for Gale. He ended up dying trying to become a God.
I'd be curious to see now what happens if you have 0 companions left (died or murdered). No Scratch or Owlbear. Just you and Withers (Kelemvor's Chosen).
thank you for this, this is my first time playing a game like this in video game format and im about 50+ hours in and feel like I keep making the wrong desicions for all my companions.
Bro just play how you want it's part of enjoying the game you can always play again and test what if scenario. Thanks to this, you will have more things to do in the game. This is how I play and thanks to this I have already played the game 4 times in a row and I still have fun
lol i got spoiled best girl was sent to hell and been dragging my feet to beat the game good to know she can actually travel back and forth and is no longer a slave to war
I don't think letting shadowhearts' parents live is a good thing cause she'll be forever tormented by Shar, it's made even worst that she'll live a pretty long life being half elf, and once her parents die she'll have no one to help her with the pain, and then I believe letting leazel choose her own destiny is better as well as throughout the whole story she's been chasing predetermined dreams of vlakith and then Orpheus, so choosing her own destiny is better as there are still many gythyanki doing the fight against vlakith
So, if Durge was supposed to be the only character with canon story, does that mean everything that happens in the playthrough is how the events in the BG3 are supposed to go? Because if that is the case, Alfira...? TT
I Don't think Gale as a god is bad ending for Gale, at least in my opinion... Kinda sad that Emperor/Balduran (yes spoilers) betrayed us that we can't work together... Lae'zal has the best ending with the egg...
Question: how to deal with Gortash? Should he become archeduke - then accept his deal and kill him afterwards to get this ending? Or kill him before becoming archeduke (almost impossible)? What to do? I dont want bad ending just because of this decision - i am worried thT some character will die… thank u!
As someone trying to decide whether or not to allow Gale to become the God of Ambition for their first playthrough, why is it better not to let him do that? And also why shouldn't I let Astarion ascend in your opinion?
I got all good endings (romancing astarion), but minsc was prisoner and jaheira stayed high harp.. I suppose that was their bad ending and I dont k lw what to change. Does siding with guild/zenths makes that decision? I sided with quild 🤔 Also I love how they included the githyanki egg for laezel, unfortunately that one finished game was the one where I did take the egg because I didnt know about thi ending.. i once sold it to the lady and never again after I found out the outcome :) that was why I left it there
my guess is, that, if we get a DLC, it will be a avernus-dlc, not a karlach-dlc (because in that case, everyone would want a dlc for their favourite companion). and in avernus karlach would have her own dungeon similar to laezel => creche//shadowheart => gauntlet/astarion => cazadors castle.
@@blook88hopefully the DLC is a dungeon for all the other companions, not just Karlach. Maybe for Gale's it's something he set up to ensure that the party's ready for any potential threats, but to keep it fair he had someone modify his memory so he doesn't know how to instantly solve it.
I recently beat the game again. I roughly did everything you described in this ending. The only thing is my Dark Urge settled down with Shadowheart, also even though I put the Githyanki egg in Lae'zel's inventory, it didn't trigger the dialogue where she is raising it. Not sure if I did something wrong or what?
I thought the egg had to be put into her inventory immediately and kept there the rest of the game, so that's what I did. Kind of a hassle to have the extra weight, but it worked.
I went to hell with Karlach and Will, no romances at all, just 3 friends on a mission to rebuild one of their's hearts. Felt like a hopeful and wholesome end, romance is nice but not required
No romance needed, you can be close with her as a friend and still offer to go with her. My last playthrough I was romancing Shart and I still had the option to offer to go with Karlach at the end.

I disagree that this is the best ending, since if you play as Origin character Gale and choose to become a Mindflayer and return the crown of Karsus to Mystra, then Mystra will restore your soul and let you come with her to Elysium (Heaven).
COMMENT: The advice about Gale seemed hopelessly vague and contradictory. Clarification pls.
I didn't have an affair with her and I still had the option of going to hell with her
I played a male elf archer and Karlah was my gf, and I let her go with Wyill cause she is stronger then me and Wyll according to his endless effort to sleep with me is g4y and I dont have to worry about Karlah cheat on me, no regrets.
@chiprahn
This may seem like it at first glance, but the truth is that Zariel made a trap.
My best ending:
- Lae’zel remained in Faerun, proud foster mom to Xan, but still hunting Vlakkith^^
- Shadowheart converted to Selune, still cursed by Shar, but reunited with her parents 🌙
- Jaheira reconciled with her children, but still high harper
- Minsc made peace with Nine fingers, wasn’t in jail and teaching a halfling thief how ro be better 😂
- Karlach went to Avernus with Wyll, but with hope of healing
- Wyll, pact broken and reunited with his father. Went to Avernus, still hunting Mizora^^
- Astarion, or better spawn Astarion trying to be an adventurer and hero
- Halsin, watching a bunch of Orphans. But i made him adopt the Owlbear
- Gale, Waterdeep professor, Karsus crown given to Mystra, orb healed and happily married to my character ❤
This game really taught me, sometimes it isn’t the best what you want. It’s what is best for your friends/ partner ;)
I have the same, except Lae'zel is hunting Vlaakith with Orpheus and the Owlbear was adopted by Shadowheart.
What do you mean Karlach is the best romance when you play as Dark Urge? Karlach IS the best romance.
Agreed
All romance options is good, all characters are wonderfull

@@VideoGameSophistry Karlach is the best Romance for Wyll, Shadowheart is best for good Durge(amnesiacs who redeem themselves) and Minthara is best for evil Durge
I would still argue for killing Mindflayer Orpheus because “better safe than sorry”, and because he’s literally asking you to do it.
My opinion:
- Played as human (not dark urge) and tried to complete everyone's questline with the most positive and fair outcome (like the gondians thing, saving the tieflings, killing the hag, defeating raphael, all that Thorfinn stuff)
- Romanced shadowheart (preference) and had unique cutscenes with her (Karlach one is the same with you or if wyll alone).By the way, her parents didn't wanted to be free but see her daughter eternally cursed. Also told her to listen to her heart so, that was her choice
- Orpheus turned and Laezel went on her road to take down the queen
- Astarion didn't ascended and I saved the vampire spawns
- Gale didn't took the crown neither exploded with the orb, so he is a teacher living a happy live
- Karlach went to Avernus with wyll and found a clue that might lead her to a solution to her heart
- Wyll became the blade of Avernus, as this was his personal choice and felt very proud of it
- Jaheira, Minsc and Halsin were happy and following their objectives
- Owlbear is with me and shadowheart
You forgot that the dog is also happy in BG with some girl
Same ending
You forgot Minthara. With Patch 5 you can recruit her without going down an evil path. I honestly feel you should update this video to take that into account.
I played as a good Durge, Minthara is still evil, even free of the Absolute she still wants to rule the world.
@@Castellan_Chris Did you try to tell she should pursue the path of a hero?
She doesn't fit at all if you play a character who cares about others.
Idk if it’s patch 6 being bugged or what happened with my game, but when I knocked out minthara, it bugged my game and made the grove get attacked (without me being able to help)
Bugged out Zevlor
Bugged out Halsin
And they all died off screen
@@KingNazaruhow does that work?
I also think a Durge romance with shadowheart fits very well, in her ending as she also says how she regrets the actions she did in the name of Shar and that related a lot to how my Durge as he also resisted the Urge through the entire playthrough and felt deep regret of his past atrocities. Another factor is how it feels like both of them found peace with each others companionship and etc.. But any Karlach romance is extremely valid!
Oh and Orpheus not being able to take full control of the rebellion against Vlakith is good because as a direct descendent of Gith he will inevitably try to conquer all the galaxy hehe
Yes Shadow heart will be able to heal with the dark urge if you ended her "parents suffering" she learns to live a normal life with you by her side.
Saved all the possible npc’s I could, Tieflings, Mayrina, Isobel, Dame Aylin, Hope, etc
Cut to Raphael, I took the deal to please Laezel but later broke it to save Gale so he could take the crown to Mystra.
Still she says she wants to live and wants to stay
As for Gale.
"We're here to make you past tense"
With Wyll in Avernus with Karlach, they work together incredibly well.
They both have something to gain out of it too. Wyll is searching for a way to free himself from the pact whilst helping Karlach find a way to make her engine not blow up.
letting 7k vamipres out? No chance. I have to hope they will all be ok? Even one innocent taken is one too much
As an Astarion stan, he doesn't need a lover. He needs a friend. I love hearing that he gets a good ending like that.
I don't think freeing the spawns it is a wise choice to make...
I feel like Orpheus has to live as he is the only one who can actually stop the illithids from reconquering the Gith. This requires Gale to give the crown back to Mystra, so he can become the illithid and survive mostly intact, but otherwise it all fits nicely.
My best ending for me:
- I played as a Dark Urge tiefling paladin
- I sided with the Emperor in the final battle because I'm not going to trade the guy who protected me the entire game for the githyanki who spent the entire game trying to kill me
- I had an romance with Karlach and went to Avernus with her
- Shadowheart lives happily with his parents
- Gale returned the crown to Mystra and became a magic teacher
- Astarion became an adventurer on his ass
- Jaheira reconciled with her children
- Minsk didn't go to jail
- Wyll was killed in Act 1 because I don't like him
- Lae'zel was killed in Act 1 because I hate githyanki
I can see why this would be a good ending, but I’m so hesitant about letting Orpheus choose to become a mindflayer. The Emperor has been with you every step of the way throughout the game, but so has Orpheus. All his power has been protecting you through the game. He’s been imprisoned for so long, aware of all the ways his powers have been used, and the first thing he does when he is free is decide to make an ultimate sacrifice even after all he’s been trough.
This is my favorite ending. Saving Karlach and going to Avernus with her.
@@TurnersTea just finishing her questline gives you that option, aka repairing her.
Orpheus is a good dude. I let Katie become a mind flayer and she LOVED it, preferred it to her old form. So that's nice.
She doesn’t want to. I asked her flat out if she wanted to live in the house of Hope
@@tomleonard830 😲, damn I missed a dialogue option. Time for another replay.
I absolutely disagree with keep Orpheus alive at the end and letting Lae'zel go to the astral plane. She is far happier being on faerun and also Voss will take over his prince duty to fight vlakit
This is the way. Voss can handle things. Bae'zel deserves to live her own life.
I personally think Astarion fits better with a dark urge because there's just so many parallels between them and It's really cute seeing them learn that taking care of other people is actually really beneficial for them. That all being said carlac is absolutely my next choice for the dark urge because she is just so sweet and so supportive And it's really cute to see two people who were working with Gortash and were betrayed or we're going to be betrayed by him find companionship with each other
Shadowheart is best romance option and Dark Urge is icky.
depends on taste
Wyll is completely unhappy being a Grand Duke. The story dropped enough hints that he'll only become a Duke if pressured by the player, where as if allowed to choose for himself, he would rather continue being a folk hero, lending aid to the needy in a way no Grand Duke ever could. Best option for him (and his happiness) is to break his contract with Mizora AND save his father, and allow him to continue being the Blade of Frontiers, but as a very exceptional ranger, since he goes on to defeat many powerful monsters that are harming innocents throughout the Sword Coast.
**Blade of Avernus
The most important thing in every playthrough....
than you are not evil. You are just a weak one that does evil from time to time :) You are eather evil or not, there is no middle ground :)
There is a term for this and it is called chaotic
i did like 90% of this version of the ending. Just finished the game; there may have been crying.
Set up 50 auto save and save manually along the way this will save you time from starting the game from scratch
I managed to pretty much nail all of these ending points on my first play through. The choices just felt right.
My only three "flaws" with my first epilogue were that I became the mind flayer so Orpheus could liberate the Gith (thankfully I didn't eat anyone at the party, and Lae'zel is sent as an envoy to recruit the Githzerai and mend the cultural barrier), Gale became a god (and I roasted him for being up his ass) and, because I was playing a sneaky rogue that finds alternate paths into places, I completely missed the flag that gets the owlbear cub from the cave to the goblin camp 😭
Next playthrough, then!
I’d say that about Karlach too if she didn’t have hope of her heart being fixed in the epilogue but I’m happy she does
Spoilers...for a better ending.
U missed 2 things to make it better.
1. Make sure that the gith egg is in laezel inventory before the final battle
2. I know it is sad but, You have to free shadow heart of the shar curse.
So she is finally free, i know its painful but thats what her parents would want.
And thats the best thing for her in the long run.
I included the gith egg in this ending and wrong about shadow heart
@@VideoGameSophistry I feel it depends on what your Playthrough was...
In my case, I didn't interfere in any dialogues scenes in house of grief..I let shadow heart handle it...she decided to sacrifice her parents...it was her and her parents decision
@@TurnersTeaThis is the way. The greatest regret of my 1st playthrough was letting her kill them.
This is the ending I had; the only difference was my character ended with Shadowheart; it was very satisfying.
I have no doubt Karlach will be judged well based on Withers comment on her "bright soul"
I aslo speculate Karlach is waiting for you there because once you get sorted into an afterlife I dont believe there is a way to transfer into another.
Dark urge definitely makes since cause bg 1 and 2 you play as a child of bhaal as well 😅
I had Karlach volunteer as tribute and become the Mindflayer instead of Orpheus. This has the benefit of letting her live without having to go into Avernus.
there's no way living in hell is the best ending for your character
The epilogue heavily implies that you've found a way to fix Karlach's heart, and get her out of Hell for good.
I was wyll, romanced shadowheart. In left with karlach, couldnt let her die. Shadowheart wasnt mad about it.
Unfortunately Larian said their would be no dlc 😢
Where does Minthara fit in all of this now that she is easily recruitable without being evil?
Thank u for the much needed clarity
"The next DLC" If only he knew back then how Larian had no plans for DLC.
I wonder what the best epilogue is for Minthara now that you don't need to be evil to recruit her.
Raising an army to conquer Menzoberranzan, either by herself or with your character, if you romanced her.
only 600 likes? This is truly great video, from so many aspects. Instant subsc.
It's been more than a decade since I saw an rpg with this much player investment.
would totally love a proper walkthrough on how to get this ending.
I usually don’t finish Act 3. It just feels like a Disney park Victorian attraction Baldy’s World where everyone dresses like a Pinterest feed
this is the ending i’m working towards in my current playthrough. i do get that like “best ending” is kinda silly, like obviously everyone has their own opinion and everyone’s game will be different but i definitely think this is the happiest ending for both the world and your companions. also, karlach is just the best ending period. love my big hot wife
What about the best epilogue for Minthara?
who? 🙃
I was romancing shadowheart, sided with the emperor and went to hell with karlach
Laezel mentions the Githzerai, which if you played Planescape: Torment like a good boy/girl then you will *know* this reference
If there is a DLC it won't be post epilogue. It'll be upper city more NPCs items Quests and Characters. 💯
I doubt they'd make a DLC based on a companion that can be killed on multiple occasions. Will probably be something new.
Just re started my game so I can save my tiefling wifu and be the best angry Druid dad ever
Wait, you can tame the owlbear instead of killing it? how?
I'd be curious to see now what happens if you have 0 companions left (died or murdered). No Scratch or Owlbear. Just you and Withers (Kelemvor's Chosen).
I can't be happy if Minthara dosen't exist.
thank you for this, this is my first time playing a game like this in video game format and im about 50+ hours in and feel like I keep making the wrong desicions for all my companions.
Bro just play how you want it's part of enjoying the game you can always play again and test what if scenario.
Thanks to this, you will have more things to do in the game. This is how I play and thanks to this I have already played the game 4 times in a row and I still have fun
I think it should be a durge cleric/paladin of selune...
I feel so sorry for Orpheus
I was deepbreathing and crying making that decision in my first finished play 🙈
@@domiwren truly crying??
best according to who? my personal fav is murderhobo.
lol i got spoiled best girl was sent to hell and been dragging my feet to beat the game good to know she can actually travel back and forth and is no longer a slave to war
I never did karlachs quest so I thought she was gonna die but Wyll and her went to avernus. I thought that was a cool outcome.
I didn’t know you could save Shars parents
I didn't even meet Karlach in my first play through.
Isn't the point of the dark urge to be dark the evil player.
Sorry can't break it off with shadowhart just can't.
As much as I don’t “like” all your endings, I have to agree with your choice on the “best/canon” endings.
Question: how to deal with Gortash? Should he become archeduke - then accept his deal and kill him afterwards to get this ending? Or kill him before becoming archeduke (almost impossible)? What to do? I dont want bad ending just because of this decision - i am worried thT some character will die… thank u!
Fyi you do not need to romance karlach to go with her and wyll to the nine hells i did with no one romanced
As someone trying to decide whether or not to allow Gale to become the God of Ambition for their first playthrough, why is it better not to let him do that? And also why shouldn't I let Astarion ascend in your opinion?
Sad hearing this now with no dlc ever coming
What, are they doing DLC? I heard they weren't... That makes me sad.
3:30 so you are lying. YOU!
I was wondering how tf to get Minsc out of jail in the end lmfao
this best ending whould be better only if we had option to saved Orpheus and Emperor whit all followers alive.
I got all good endings (romancing astarion), but minsc was prisoner and jaheira stayed high harp.. I suppose that was their bad ending and I dont k lw what to change. Does siding with guild/zenths makes that decision? I sided with quild 🤔
Also I love how they included the githyanki egg for laezel, unfortunately that one finished game was the one where I did take the egg because I didnt know about thi ending.. i once sold it to the lady and never again after I found out the outcome :) that was why I left it there
Karlach fixing her heart isn't going to be DLC. What if you killed her right away? Do you not get to play the DLC?
my guess is, that, if we get a DLC, it will be a avernus-dlc, not a karlach-dlc (because in that case, everyone would want a dlc for their favourite companion).
and in avernus karlach would have her own dungeon similar to laezel => creche//shadowheart => gauntlet/astarion => cazadors castle.
@@blook88 I see where you're going with that. It makes sense.
I actually had a dialogue option for it in act 3 where she asks about the egg and you can give it to her
I thought the egg had to be put into her inventory immediately and kept there the rest of the game, so that's what I did. Kind of a hassle to have the extra weight, but it worked.
Wyll doesn't have to go too hell as urge with karlach
I went to hell with Karlach and Will, no romances at all, just 3 friends on a mission to rebuild one of their's hearts.
Felt like a hopeful and wholesome end, romance is nice but not required
Do you absolutely nerd to romance karlach to go to hell with her? Can't you do that just by being friends with her?
No because Wyll can go with her instead if he become the Blade of Avernus.
@@xUncleLeo yeah but cant we go like the 3 of us without having to romance karlach?
@@meau400 yes I think so
I have gone with her and Wyll in two plays, no romances, so adored friends can indeed go with her.
No romance needed, you can be close with her as a friend and still offer to go with her. My last playthrough I was romancing Shart and I still had the option to offer to go with Karlach at the end.
