    I have my child in Acellus but I'm still glad I watched your video to get your opinion and to explain Power Homeschool. My son has done K to 2, and I do like the new interface. The big pro is the price. I like how the classes are set up like a normal school with a teacher wven though it's a pre recorded lesson. I have been looking at other online schools and notice that most of them are just turning the textbook into an e-book. As a parent I can't sit to make sure my son is reading his lessons. I like on Acellus how I can just step away and hear the lesson going and jump in when I need to. I have not experienced any really bad technical difficulties. Rarely this happens, but if the loading is slow or freezes I just reload the page. I just recently noticed the empty library but it doesn't bother me too much because my child wouldn't care for those generic online books anyway that they had on their old interface. Whatever the school is lacking curriculum wise, I supplement myself. I'm not big on common core but I'm living in a state that follows those guidelines so I try to stay on par and use Acellus as my baseline. All the schools in my state are WASC certified so I want to stay with a WASC accredited school.

      Hi can this be done by a fulltime single work from home mom? I am interested in putting my son in kindergarten but mentally unsure if I would be able to

    • @marilynmccorriston3782
      @marilynmccorriston3782 Месяц назад

      @@ijlalmuhammad8914 I truly believe that any mother or father can do this even though you are working full time or part time. Your a fulltime mom at home, even better! For my son's kindergarten year it really only requires you to put in an hour of work, I usually did an hour and a half and broke it up into 2 to 3 segments. Sometimes if I didn't have time on the weekdays I did it on the weekend. The best part about homeschool is that everything is totally up to you! In my opinion Acellus does a great job of covering the basics. When I thought that there was something that was missing I was just fill it in myself with my mini lesson or worksheet. I did sit with my son to watch his lessons but if you have a tablet he could sit right in front of you as you cook or clean or work on your own computer. As he got the hang of it, I was able to just pop my head in to see if he was paying attention. The lessons are very engaging and are just like they are being taught in a classroom. I purchased the Acellus Academy as I like the peace of mind of having it accredited. I started during the pandemic and he has been loving it since. You can do it!

    I’m actually a student there and I asked about the library. They said they are still loading the books on there. Also I agree with you that there is a lot of technical difficulties on there. I can’t sign in right now. Phone calls you have to wait like 20 minutes for someone to pick up.

Basically I don't think you change any settings but they are saying because of the vectored instruction and how you can redo the lessons it may be good. But I didn't see any specific settings related to special needs.

      I'm so glad you're finding the videos helpful! Just remember, online homeschooling is just ONE option. You could always do a print curriculum too. What's been working best for us in our family lately is using programs with video lessons but paper worksheets, like essentials in writing and dimensions math. Also, you aren't stuck with what you choose. If it doesn't work out you can always switch to something else!

    If you don't want to go through each part. In acellus powerhome school. The parent change it to tutor mode. The student can watch the parts they need to see and review. It's handy.

    Thank you for the video. I am desperately trying to find an "easy" academy for my child who is ADHD and also on the spectrum. Do you find that this curriculum is on the easier side? Also, I cannot give my child have full access to the internet. She is not mature enough and gives out her personal information (she is going in 10th grade...but still not ready.) Does this require the student to venture off to another website or is everything compiled within Acellus and therefore she will not need to go to other websites? I appreciate any help you could give. Thank you!!

    • @AmandaMelrose
      @AmandaMelrose  2 месяца назад

      Everything is done on Acellus. You can even purchase a computer with one of the packages that will only run the acellus software which could be helpful for you. The courses should be simple to follow but the lesson videos are sometimes long compared to some other programs.

      Are you looking for something that will give you a diploma, or can your parents issue that? Acellus I believe has some restrictions for how for ahead you can work. There are many online high school programs other than acellus but some of the better ones are also much more expensive. There are some great online homeschooling programs that are more affordable, but in most states your parents would be in charge of issuing your transcripts and diploma.

    • @AmandaMelrose
      @AmandaMelrose  3 месяца назад

      You can choose the grade level for the courses. You might try supplementing with something else to catch her up a bit. Once she gets to high school she'll have to earn a certain amount of credits, but you can choose which courses she takes for math and put her at the level you think is best.

      You can view the entire scope and sequence for each grade on their website. For fifth grade they have them doing a research paper I believe. Since Acellus Academy is an online school, not a homeschooling program, they would be grading everything.

      That is on the list! But to be honest they are very different. Miacademy has the flexibility and freedom like Time4Learning but with humans in the videos instead of cartoons (at least for the grades I tested). Power Homeschoo/Acellus you have less flexibility. You can't customize your lesson plan the same way, and you can't start in the middle of a course. You need to start at the beginning and go all the way through without skipping anything.
