But the main question is it okay by New York law to go to such school? Cause department of education tells that it's required to go to public school and we have options of homeschooling... Anyway how to let them know I want my kid go homeschool? Thank you very much in advance!

    • @AmandaMelrose

      In the US, if she is in grade K through 8, they'll most likely go by age and not care about credits or anything like that. If she's in high school you might have more trouble. So in high school if you do this I recommend you use am accredited virtual school, and confirm with the school that they'll accept the credits when she returns.

He also knows the entire periodic table (he taught himself) he loves science and doing science experiments and art projects as well as building and making things. We do a lot of field trips and hands on learning combined with workbook. However i do want to have a daily curriculum that he can lean on. Which do you and/or other parents recommend for him? • @AmandaMelrose
      @AmandaMelrose  11 месяцев назад +1

      From what I recall they don't have a placement test. You get to choose what they learn, so it's very customizable for you to make sure they are learning at the right level for each subject. For example, maybe he's further ahead in reading than math or science, or vice versa? You can start by picking what you think and you can always adjust it based on whether he's finding it too easy or too challenging. Maybe start by choosing the grade level he would be in school or 1 grade up and go from there?

      You can do the work on any device with an internet browser - but this is not a school. If you're homeschooling then usually the parent will issue the diploma. The good thing is that it isn't a monthly fee, the $59.95 covers each student for 6 mos. So, if you have more than one child enrolled and each will take a foreign language, you will have to pay the $59.95 fee for each child upfront. This fee will cover them for a six month time period, then you must pay again if you wish your child(ren) to continue taking a foreign language. Hope I'm making sense!

      This one is not free. I think it's around $30 a month. Most of them are in that price range. Also, while some of the curriculums may claim to be accredited, only an actual school can be accredited. There are a few like Abeka or Acellus Academy but they are more expensive. Think of them like virtual schools or distance learning. Time 4 learning and other online homeschooling programs like it are more like an online curriculum, not a school. Just like if you bought the textbook curriculum and taught it yourself, only it's being "taught" online. Hope this helps.

    Is there a parent answer key?

    • @AmandaMelrose
      @AmandaMelrose  7 месяцев назад

      Yes absolutely! You can find them on the parent dashboard. Go to lesson planning and reports, then view lesson plans. Find the subject and grade level you need. Then over on the right under resources there should be an answer key bundle.

    Education isn’t only about academics. Take your child to school so they learn to interact with other kids and adults. This is why homeschool kids are weird. No social skills except with their family. That’s not how the world works,😕

      This isn't how homeschooling works. While many parents choose to use online homeschooling programs for some or all of the academic aspect, homeschool kids have many many opportunities for things outside the home. Homeschooling is growing so fast! There are so many homeschool groups, co-ops, homeschool classes for things like STEM, martial arts, nature, gym, sports, etc....there is so much opportunity out there. Educate yourself on today's homeschooling, you might be surprised. Especially since the academic aspect can be done so much faster and more efficiently than in a school, there's a ton of extra time for socializing and extracurriculars.

      lol. Public school kids are the weird ones. Rude, pushy, no manners, and lack of individualized attention from teachers. Good luck

      What homeschool kids you know that are weird? My neighbors kids are so social, super smart and funny. I had no idea they were homeschooling until just recently. They are a part of more social activities and groups than kids who go to public/ private school.

    Can someone tell me what the actual name is for the NY 3rd grade math curriculum? We use time4learning. I know when my child was in school a few months ago the math was called Core but I heard it changed since then. Can anyone tell me what the "name of the curriculum" is called? We like a time for Learning and I find that its parent and child friendly however it does become mundane when you hear the little Danny DeVito sounding guy every day lol my daughter is already losing interest and its only week 6. I wish there was a way to modify the characters and voices

      Is it "Next Generation"? If so, I recommend you try IXL for math because you can align it to your state standards. This is what it has listed for NY.

      We are using a time for learning. I thought it was next-gen as well, but someone told me it was not.
