TKA’s Smith Family Conservatory of the Arts, a two-time American High School Theatre Festival award-winning fine arts program recently produced "Jekyll & Hyde" featuring Gregorio Umana in the leading role. The Smith Conservatory is led by Mr. David Snyder (Artistic Director, Musical Theater, Department Chair), Mr. Nathaniel Adams (Director of Vocal Arts), Mrs. Cathy Higgins (Director of Dance- Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz), Mr. Douglas Gawriljuk (Dance- Ballet and Modern), Mrs. Heidi Martin (Theatre Arts), Mr. Brad Majzner (Stagecraft & Technical Director), Mr. Wes Lowe (Director of Instrumental Arts), Mrs. Stephenie Grasso (Instrumental Arts) Mr. Patrick Clifford (Instrumental Arts Strings), Mr. Austin Parenti (Media Arts Director), Mrs. Mary McCarty (Media Arts), Mrs. Laura McFaden (Visual Art), Mrs. Virginia Nucci (Visual Arts), and Mrs. Robin Phillips (Instrumental Arts Piano).

This is a school production?! They're incredible.
It's nationally award winning, so they do it right. And this lead is actually back after he graduated. At the time of recording he was studying performing arts in NYC.
This is more like Broadway quality musical sheesh

I just love when the crowd is walking back and forth and he gets bumped into. He doesn’t even react. Hyde is in the zone and doesn’t give a damn and he shows it. Great shit there

Crap, did he make that guttural sound when he "bites" her?!?! Scared the living daylights out of me! All the little subtle things he does when he's singing and talking as Hyde add an extra level of awesome!!

I can actually explain this:
The sound effect and the "biting" is an effect/technique used in both the book and musical called "dehumanisation."
The heavy use of animal metaphors (the biting, the "ape like fury" quote, references to predator and prey, ect) make Hyde seem less human and more animal like which not only links to Darwin's theory on evolution (which was controversial when the original book was published) but also makes Hyde seem more feral, wild, creepy and terrifying.
i’ve known this guy for *checks time* ten minutes and i’m already in love with this.
I seriously got chills his voice and his movements with the red lighting is perfect! Yes cast him as the next Phantom!
We need a Jekyll and Hyde revival with him as Dr. Jekyll!

This is a revival with him as Dr. Jekyll. He did the same thing back in 2016. And he was incredible back then too.

The two version are very different; here hyde is a gentle assassin; in the other is a complete beast (affascinating but a beast, who is more like the book)

Mystic Ken I don’t think Jekyll and Hyde will ever go on Broadway again :( The Broadway version removed a few good songs (like Bring On the Men), and Hasselhoff pretty much ruined the show and its reputation. They had a 25th anniversary concert (not production) in Australia last year starring Anthony Warlow, but nothing else really happened :(

I’m sorry?? But the ACCENT HE’S DOING?? IS AMAZING?? If you’ve watched the rest of it it’s clear that he’s doing an East London accent just for this scene and- AHHHHHHH it’s more clear in the first half of it but-
OKAY I DIDN'T EXPECT THIS TO COME OUT SO FAST YES! (Also, the part where he swishes his cape around in front of the red light oddly reminded me of Elphaba during "No Good Deed"...? HAHAHA)

Update: This is another proof why Alive is, by far, my most favorite track in the whole musical
Whoever these kids are they are amazing. Lucy’s voice is so clear and lovely and Jekyll/Hyde’s voice is such a beautiful tenor to hit the high notes as he does at that age is incredible. Her high notes made tears come to my eyes.
Love watching this interpretation of a classic novel. It brings it to life with such passion. Love how he can switch beween the 2 so clearly. Thank you so much for shareing.

Edit: Wow. Expectations reached. Frickin love the cape and cane. His voice is so good for this role! Back to the cape, him standing in front of the red light with that is so good. Especially while Singing!! This is my favorite song from this musical and I was not disappointed.

I want that trenchcoat. It's the most amazing trenchcoat I've ever seen
my understanding is that the part starting at 2:54 is extremely vocally challenging after performing the rest of the song, so it makes sense that he would be a tiny bit sharp/flat at this part.

This is the tour version. Many great changes were made!! =) I was proud to be a part of it!!
It would depend on which Broadway version. Robert Cuccioli was the best but I admit I never saw Chuck Wagner in its original showing in Houston. I heard he was amazing. But I have seen some on Broadway that were not as good as this. The difficult thing about Broadway is the stars typically do 6 to 8 shows every week. To maintain that level of emotion and energy show after show is very difficult. I suppose that is why they typically move on after a year or so.
Gregorio has got so much better over the years, bloody hell mate!! I watched the 2016 one on RUclips, and this was recommended and there is a clear difference, love both versions though

@@라라-w6f Yeah two actors did indeed play the role, but TKA only uploads one version. Perhaps they'll upload the other actor's version of some of the songs after they've posted the entire musical, but I can't say for sure.
YJ L there were two actors who were in the musical. They shared the role between them. The other actor is Albert Elias. I think there are some clips of him in the role on RUclips somewhere.

Have you ever heard the recording of Anthony Warlow singing this song? There is no mash of Dangerous Game and he spends that minute with Lucy breathing and making creepy sounds, its great
@@megabladechronicles962 I'm actually a big fan of the Warlow performance, I think everyone of the songs are better when performed by him.
But I also don't like the noises and the Lucy stalking recorded, I do think it works during the play, tho.

It's the tour version that is licensed. It's a better show, quite honestly. But I'm a little biased
