Did you notice that he swaps accents depending on he is doing when he is talking, it is an American accent. When he is singing as Jekyll, he is more Italian. When he is Hyde, it's more Spanish, which is his natural accent. The only reason is that each accent represents a side of his character. It is representative of Hyde of being the true form of man.
I loved his natural Spanish accent he'd used last time as Hyde, and I hope he uses it again. I also loved not only the difference in the transformation this time around, but also how the sound echoed when he spoke as Hyde.
He's so good!!! From his dignified, sweet, more treble-y voice dipping into a more guttural, deeper one-- and the whole transition part into Hyde-- there were a lot of nuances in this scene that I enjoyed seeing! Even the foreshadowing to the final confrontation scene, when he flips and claws his way through the pain-- just, yes! "Alive" is gonna be an awesome number, I can feel it. :D
Wow the way he was documenting his changes is incredible, his voice is soft and soothing untill you see Hyde come out. My mouth dropped to the floor this is beautifull! Cant wait to see the Confrontation scene!!
Holy cow, how is this guy so good!?!?!?! I was holding my breath the whole time, even though I've seen this before. I love seeing the subtle differences between this one and the version he did earlier. Especially the part he added, when he sings "something is...taking hold!", he switched really quickly to Hyde's voice there, than back to Jekyll again before the final switch. And how he makes his voice high and creepy for "I forgot to put the light out." SO GOOD!
@@amieperkins4933 in my defense, it IS ridiculously uncomfortable to have one sleeve up and the other down. Uncomfortable enough I could understand the murder at that point 🤣 /j
I don't like Gregorio in 2016 as Jekyll/Hyde, but now I watch this the third time and i'm thinking: "What the hell has become of him? He's so good!" Now I love him as Jekyll/Hyde. One of the best Tranformation-Scenes I ever seen
i've been waiting for this!! loved gregorio as jekyll since four years ago. love to see the same amazing performance but with improvements over time in his technique and acting. can't wait to see the rest :)
Agree with the praise for Gregorio's performance. 1:10 to 1:47 should be mentioned though. He is only singing about a vial of red dyed liquid but for those seconds, he makes me believe that this formula is one of the most fascinating and greatest things I've ever seen.
I have noticed that the actor is singing and talking about himself in the first person. In the theatre, this is used to express a person and their hopes, dreams and fears. The voice change is a notable difference. In the speaking part, he is more American. When he's singing as Hyde, he's more of a tenor with an Italian accent. When he's Hyde, he has a Spanish accent and a baritone quality to his voice. This is meant to show that Jekyl and Hyde are one and the same person, and not two separate people.

I am sorry for any previous comments that I made about this video. At the time of writing, I did not understand the story and what it was about. It is about the dark side of human nature and the importance of reputation in VIctorian society. Hyde is not a different person to Jekyll, but an darker version of Jekyll. The potion takes away the veneer of respectability and lets him do things without the responsibilities.
"No noticeable behavioral differences" he says as he's giggling like he remembered a stupid joke Utterson told a half hour ago.
Gregorio Umana is so good that it is hard to believe he is acting. He *_IS_* Mr. Hyde.
He has an amazing voice, he's a awesome actor, and he's hot as hell!!!!!!
Grace Murray I’ve found someone who agrees with me finally 😊
He’s by far the best Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde I’ve ever seen he just does it so well and he is very true to the character.
He was hundreds of times better than Hasselhoff lol
Finally ... people who agree with me that he is hot

Roxy Grey I believe he was born in Spain? Correct me if I’m wrong.
@@sophieandrew4666 Colombia, actually, and I think the South American countries have the Spanish accent, too.
Rachel Wallace Doak Oh yeah, right, my mind was completely muddled up there. Thanks for the correction.

Me, a dumbass: ROLL YOUR SLEEVE BACK DOWN YOU BARBARIAN
yes of course that's what your worried about. not the whole murder thing. ;)

@@EloiseRaeCullen I can see how that would be annoying... anyways it's nice to see the fandom is still alive
I’m late but I definitely agree
Next mission for TKA when the pandemia and quarantine is over : do again Phantom of the Opera and cast Gregorio as the Phantom.
OH YEAH
POTO is my favorite. He would KILL IT!
YES YES YES
Now it's Mr. Hyde's turn for his iconic solo
Breathtakingly good- even better than last time!

How did they make the shot look so real?
Aquariusgurl 15 It’s a stage spring loaded needle. They don’t actually inject anything they just make it look like that.
Michelle Muir cool!
Yeah, the needle retracts into the syringe when it presses onto the skin.
"forgive me dr jekyll h ee h e.. i forgot to put out the liIghT"
I tend to be picky on how this role is played since it’s my favorite musical role of all time, but wow, he knocked this out of the park. Bravo.
How old is this Gregorio Umana because he acts like a professional Broadway actor. I can see him going far
He was 21 in this performance I think.
@@suzannerider9460 Honestly, Gregorio is more professional than the Broadway actors 😘
and here comes Hyde wooo
He is so amazing! His voice! His acting!
That dude does a fantastic job!!
Not gonna lie hes good in the role still i yet find a actor who can win me over & beat anthony warlow in the role
Wow.
Nice
OH MY DEARY ME. His voice is like that of an opra singer's. Absolutely sunning voice
He sounds like Gerard Butler when he says "taking hold". :D
