Gregorio’s voice had matured so much since the last production. His notes are so polished and natural, he sings so effortlessly! Bravo!
The shivering in her voice at the beginning is incredible, she sounds legitimately afraid! And changing the lines a bit made all the difference, it gives a completely different feeling at the end than the last performance!
Gregorio has grown into the role very well. His actions are more intentional (even more than before!) and his voice and facial expressions have more malice in it. And Lucy's internal conflict is externalized so well! Olivia takes this interplay between fear and desire and makes it her own. Watching this makes me genuinely afraid for her. I didn't realize I've been holding my breath through all this until the end. I love this interpretation!
Caitlin Tan I agree with you on every aspect of what you wrote. You can see the malicious intent in Hyde more than the previous version. His nuances are a lot more defined, such as when he holds Lucy and takes her up the stairs.
I think that this is the best version of this on RUclips.
The best version of Jekyll and Hyde’s Dangerous Game (😅how could Olivia still sing and act so well with a babe like Gregorio so intimate with her here)?
Can we please talk about how much I would have enjoyed attending this academy when I was younger?
There should be more schools like this in the UK. There are some very talented young people who are good enough to do this.
@@suzannerider9460 there’s quite a few performing arts schools in the UK
I get the feeling from these videos it is very competitive and a couple actors get the leads every time. Doesn't look like it is as fun for the rest. I'm very glad my love for performing wasn't punched out of me at a very young age by being made to perform at a very high level like this and to compete with my peers. That would have killed me, although I know not everyone is like me. Some people would thrive in these situations, it just isn't for me.
These people produce very high quality art, which is why I watch their videos. But it makes me sad to always see the same people in the leading roles. They're a school, shouldn't their focus be on giving everyone an equal opportunity to learn and grow instead of on making good art? Again, feel free to disagree, I know not everyone has my opinions on education, I just wanted to share that it may not be as good as it looks to outsiders. As a kid I wanted to go to a school like this to, and in hindsight I'm very glad my parents didn't let me.
"it's a sin with no name"
you mean lust?
"fighting feelings I can't define"
you mean l u s t ?
Their relationship is semi-complicated. Have you read the book/know about their background?
@@publius8945 oh yeah, I'm just poking fun of the word choice
@@publius8945 Hey, about that actually, I read the book a few years ago, and I don’t remember the female characters at all. There was Jekyll/Hyde, Utterson, and another colleague of Jekyll that I can’t remember his name, as main characters. Am I missing something that’s really obvious? Are the female characters some creative liberties the writers of the musical took to make it more interesting? Or like do these characters actually exist in like a different version of the story?
@@gizemgonenc5342 yeah the female characters aren't in the original book. I don't know if they were added just for the musical or whether the musical took inspiration from somewhere else for them though
Lucy doesn't feature in the book. She was created especially for the musical.
I don't think I could be more impressed by other productions than this academy stages. To be that young and talented, those kids must have got smacked with the tree branch of talent!
Abigail Mortensen absolutely!
😭😭🤣😭🤣😭😭
This is definitely giving me phantom chills. Olivia and Gregorio sound fearfull and seductive in this. Well done!
I love the symbolism of this scene. The lighting of this scene works to contrast the difference between the male and female actors on stage. For example, the male is in the shadows, while the female is in the light. The height difference between the two is another reason why I love this scene. It's a great way of showing the male character as being in control of the woman. His movements are more powerful than the woman, especially when gets thrown across the balcony. His voice is more clear than in the previous production. The tone of his voice changes alongside the character. For example, the actor, when he's playing Jekyll, sings in a tenor voice and has more of an Italian accent. When he is Hyde, he goes back to his natural accent and has a baritone voice.
"And the angels proclaim" at the end of the song is stunning. I love it!
Why isn’t anyone talking about how amazing Lucy was! She was soooo good!
I actually get scared for Lucy at this point. I know that she is acting, but she is so convincing as someone who is genuinely frightened.
You can see the balance between the tension and the attraction in this scene.
THIS. IS. HOW. YOU. DO. THIS. SONG! 😱🙌🏽. The singing and acting literally had me in awe!
The fact that his voice is lower than it was in 2016, only makes it better.
He was 21 when this was done earlier on this year and 17 in the 2016 production.
This song has "the point of no return" from the POTO vibes... And I like it... 😏
That was the first thought I had! I guess my brain is stuck in the era of musicals I grew up with haha 😂
This! And reading this, makes me want so much more see him as the Phantom someday 😂👌 The way he grabs her in the end of the number tho : so sexy 😏🤭
@@marialeonor9171 I totally agree with you on that
Yes! I’m positive he would be an AMAZING phantom
His voice reminds me of Ramin Karimloo
This Edward Hyde is amazing 🤩
I love that he pulls Lucy close at the last word (unlike most productions when Lucy pushes Hyde away)
She's stunning! Both of them are :)
I think that this is when Lucy knows that Hyde and Jekyll are the same person. I also think it is Hyde from the start especially after "a darker dream".
The use of stringed instruments (as used in the piece), is used to create a sense of danger and suspense. Bernard Herman uses this to brilliant effect in "Psycho". It is also used to make a scene more tense and suggest that a person is a murderous psychopath.
Gregorio and Olivia are perfect together❤️👏🏻
It's breathtaking every time. Chills.
In the 2014 production the way he lured her up the stair case wasn't nearly as threatening and persuasive. This one... Is just perfection. He has mastered every motion. Every note. Truly the master of the Jekyll/Hyde role.
Her first notes gave me goosebumps
YEEEEEEEEES!!!! I was so excited for this one, is my favorite song of the musical!!!!
Edit : 1- I feel so jealous of her on this number tho 👌😂
2- Now I don't know if I'm getting a crush on Jekyll or on Mr. Hyde.
Maybe it’s okay to say you have a crush on both of them, since they are the same person.
Why not both?
I have a huge crush on both Gregorio's Jekyll and Hyde
yes.
They both have incredibly good and strong voices that complement each other very well. It's especially impressive given how young they both are.
These kids are so talented. Thank you so much for these postings.
What toxic choice of men I have 🥴🥴🥴
Ari dela Cruz I understand you
That makes two of us
You like Hyde? I might arrange a conversation with him for you
Same lmao, at least with fictional men. Oh well.
@@edwardhyde9692 Yes. 😍
The way this song is done is really telling of the quality of the production, and this is amazing.
Gregorio and Olivia ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
OH GOD I am absolutely in love with this version
Wow, just wow.both of them.❤
These actors are really pros.
I think that the costume department should get some credit. The clothes that each character were popular during Queen Victoria!s reign, where the story was written and set.
Been waiting for this one! 😍😍😍 my favorite song!
Love it!!! and I'm waiting for In his eyes.
I actually believe that was released an hour ago, if I'm not mistaken.
* to the tune of sesame street * can someone tell me how to get, how to get iNtO tHiS sChOoL?!
WOW, she is talented! This is probably my favorite version of Lucy. She shows the fear and lust so so clearly.
YESSS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
So cool that he is doing the same role as before. Would’ve been cool if the other Lucy played the role again
This was pretty good for high schoolers. Hope these kiddos go to a good conservatory.
I love this song and this is the best version I’ve seen and heard. I also love the camera work, but it would be even better if the shots stayed close so we don’t miss their facial expressions. I’ve just learned of kings academy from browsing RUclips and I’m blown away by their professionalism.
I love seeing how much Gregorio grew as an actor/singer. I was lowkey afraid for Lucy too!
I'm gonna say it. These 2 are just as good as Linda And Robert.
Even much better
@@frostylunettaAlright that's a bit much
This is the best “dangerous games” performance I’ve ever seen.
I think that the red light used in this scene is meant to be a symbolic gesture. Red is associated with the Devil, Hell and blood.
And sexuality
Какие прекрасные, чистые голоса!!
LOVE this! Both of them are so talented
This is a performance from high school students? I’m genuinely amazed.
Why am I just now finding out about this?
i saw the difference in gregorio's vocals but similar which is great he's consistent and i think the lucy's were very different and that played off of him which made him all more creepier this lucy was more afraid and you can feel the chill she felt with him and the way he lead her you could feel she was building to him which made it more powerful the only thing was at the top of the bridge i wished there was more pulling to each other but all in all great job ive been singing for 20 plus years jekyll and hyde is one of my favorite musicals it has a point of no return from phantom feeling and i felt that throughout the song which is great vocals were strong
Better than the 2016 version in my opinion.
Have to agree the girl who played Lucy in 2016 was good but Olivia is even better
I personally prefer the Lucy in 2016, but the Lucy is also brilliant .
How remembers Lucy’s old dress
The other one was lovely but this is so much closer to the period in which the story is set
In the fourth minute of this song where they're on the balcony who doesn't think they're watching Phantom of the opera because the guy who does jackal sounds like Phantom of the opera
Yes they do sound similar! It really reminds me of past the point of no return.😁
Oh and btw it's Jekyll not jackal😁😁✌️👌👌👌👍
Yeah, he reminds me of Ramin Karimloo
AMAZING PERIOD...and A HIGH SCHOOL??????????? awesome.
Is there a way I can download/buy their recordings? Because it’s not available on the normal places like iTunes or Amazon music but the singing is really good I would like to download it to my iPod
Me too 😅 but I never found it ... if you find out how could you tell me 😅?
Do you notice that his hands at one point become more like claws than hands?
YES I noticed that too!
Wow just wow.
I know that this is acting but this is way too convincing!
This is the equivalent of a seduction scene in the musical. The music was originally called Seduction in the early version of the musical.
What is their budget for productions? Dang.
oh my gosh! the 2016 show popped up on my homepage last night, I watched it three years ago and I remember being slightly obsessed with it (apparently I commented on it twice lol). I couldn’t believe he was 17 then and now he’s matured a bit and he’s even better. and that Lucy!! goodness gracious, what talent! they’re going places. tbh I don’t like this show very much on its own but that production is *it* for me. i don’t like any other cast. I bet one day he’ll win the Tony I wanted for him three years ago and I’ll go ‘omg it’s doctor jekyll!’ 😂
Hyde-looks like Banderas. Sounds like Banderas
Jekyll-looks and sounds like Cuccoli.
Speaking -Chuck Wagner
Technically like Warlow and Karimloo combined.
Well damn. Not what I was expecting. But good. Lol
Omg
The sing-song elements of this song are used to represent a person who has a sadistic personality.
Mom I’m scared 😟
これ何のシーンですか?
The girl playing Lucy has o learn how to sing with her eyes open. Every song I've seen her, she keeps her eyes closed.
The girl in the first performace was better
