Super cute! Also I just want to say I think it's nice that you keep your little missteps in the video -I don't think I've ever gotten through a full sewing project without having to use the seam ripper at least once 😅 so it's nice to see that I'm not alone!
I really really enjoy watching your sewing vlogs❤
Sewed matching mom and daughter Laura Ashley dresses in 1979 on a very similar Kenmore sewing machine. Takes me back. Well done you!
Very sweet little dress! I never would've thought to use that print, but it works!!
This is a beautiful dress; I love the pattern and the fabric choice. I also admire the way you seem to be able to fold and sew straight lines without threading; I always seem to have trouble following a straight line! 😅
Love this pattern it's so pretty
Love it! Good job!
My mom has that same sewing machine! 😆 I knew it looked familiar! Love these videos so far. And I love RPCo fabric as well. I was afraid the prints would be too busy for some patterns, but they look really lovely and vintage-y. Reminds me of the flour sack dresses I've seen pictures of! I just need to find a pattern that's not too overwhelming for me since I'm petite frame/sizing (why I feel the prints are overwhelming on certain styles...)
I love Kenmore machines as they are the very best and last forever, never give it up even it you buy others as you will always miss it. I have spent forever trying to rebuy my original Kenmore. Love you and your channel, thanks ❤
The final product is so pretty! I'm always so impressed by how well these colors suit you, Lauren. You've really found your perfect color palette. 😊
Isn’t voluminous such a lovely word? 🥰
You may wish to consider turning your fabric so the bulk goes over the left side of your machine instead of between the needle and the right side (25:50) It’s too easy to catch that pretty material underneath m, damaging it or having to needlessly seam rip.
I’d be interested to know how you measured for cutting your pattern size. I’ve watched another tutorial for this dress and learned a lot from that make up. Sizing information from different creators can be really helpful.
Thanks so much for sharing!
I love it!!
Love the dress!
First off, you are such a beautiful soul, Lauren. I have been eagerly awaiting your next upload for weeks and this was definitely a treat. Secondly, you are very gracious to take your viewers suggestions on pinning. I switched to the method you are trying to do after similar advice was offered. However, I have seen seamstresses do both ways and I think it really depends on what you find easier and fastest.
And last but not least, that dress s STUNNING. The details you added really made it perfect.
Please don’t feel that it’s not ok to include errors or seam ripping. It’s just fine, and real, and encouraging to those of us who use seam rippers regularly! 😀 the dress is lovely.
This dress is super flattering and I love the fabric choice -the pattern is very Jane Austen-y 💚 I really liked the editing of the video too! xo
Oh my! This is now vintage. I bought this pattern back in the '70s. Lovely fabric. Beautiful dress. Perhaps I'll pull out my pattern again!
Haha, yes! I love the 70s patterns from Laura Ashley so much. I hope you love it if you decide to pull it back out!
Your dress is gorgeous.Just a reminder, when using vintage patterns check your measurements.I was sewing in the 70's and the sizes were much smaller than they are today. I love the crochet trim and the threaded ribbon.I don't know how much pressure is on the ribbon waist tie but it might be stronger to make a fabric tie with the ribbon sewn on as a detail. The fabric design and colour palette is so beautiful. The fall of the fabric enhances the frill and gives the fabric lovely movement.
You're getting very close to 50k Lauren! 💗
Beautiful dress
I just got same pattern and want it to modify so that it won't be so much ruffle looking with that wrap part 🙂
So interesting! I noticed the uncommon way you pinned the fabric and I thought it was because you wanted us to see what you were doing. I have to admit it did bother me 😂 but if that’s what is most comfortable for you then it’s not wrong. It still worked for you.
It's just bad timing when the AC goes out in the summer. Our unit is just 10 years old and it was paid off in January. My very smart husband added an additional 10-year warranty for parts and labor because we know how it works. You pay something off and then it breaks down.
Such a gorgoeus dress ❤ and it works so well in this fabric. I love the details you added too with the lace and ribbon ❤
Dress is beautiful, great job. Glad. you removed the green ribbon at bottom!
I love the fabric choice!!! The dress is *very cute*! Well done! New subscriber 👋🏻
I love this pattern. I bought it when it first came out. But i really love your Kenmore. How old is it? What model?
What make of serger do you use? Is it easy to thread? Just found your channel and love it!!
Well done! I made a very similar dress in yellow gingham with yellow satin ribbon for my high school graduation in 1979! My mother laughs at me because I have a hard time coming to terms with being VINTAGE nowdays.😂
This dress is gorgeous! I truly wish I could sew my own dresses. Thanks for sharing your video.
How old is your Kenmore sewing machine? I also have a Kenmore, but mine has a lot more stitches to choose from. I've had mine for more than 40 years.
Am I the only one who bought this pattern and started sewing it without realizing it was a wrap dress? I was so confused!!😅😅😂
Beautiful dress you look lovely. The fabric is gorgeous.
Just a comment in response to switching the direction of your pins. Are you left handed? If you are then the pins to the left are fine. But if not it would make it easier to lay your pins across to pull off on your right and set your magnetic pin cushion on the right of your machine. I actually found a little flat magnet in the sewing notions section. It’s called a pin trapper. You can peel and stick it to your sewing arm and it holds the pins while you remove them.
Such a beautiful dress and I love the crocheted lace trim❤
It's gorgeous! Very fresh and floaty 😍
I have this pattern too! Excited to try it now.
Your dress is lovely. Love your fabric choice. I have that pattern but, I haven’t made the dress yet. So much fabric and that ruffle, yikes. Would you make it again considering the ruffle?
Thank you so much Anita! I think I would, but I might consider removing some of the ruffle fabric- I honestly don’t think it needs quite so much to have the same effect, especially if the fabric isn’t extremely fluid. 🩵
@@LaurenJohnson yes, I agree
May I ask what YT channel are your watching at the end of the video? I like your channel so much - it makes me happy :D
Haya. Stunning dress Lauren 😍I can see how much work it took to make 😀Beautiful fabric, as I have said before, you have such a good eye for the prettiest of fabrics 😍Thanku 'sew' much for sharing 🪡✂🧵🙂x
thank you for this tutorial. I have this pattern and I am a beginner in sewing so I'm going to follow along. I would love if you did more videos like this with this type of patterns.
Thank you so much! I’ll definitely try to do more!
really lovely, good job!
Such a pretty dress! I believe you can wear it when the crossover at the back as well, which gives a bit of variety.
I love the added detail of the ribbon and lace too.
Yes! I love that it's a reversible design in that way! Thank you so much!
Are you the same Lauren Johnson that couldn’t stop sneezing?
Haha! No, but I've gotten this question before!
I picked up this pattern a while ago but haven't gotten started on it yet. I love how yours turned out! Now I just have to find the right fabric...
Beautiful designs, I just finished my gunne sax dress & can I just state How much Fun adding trims onto my dresses is!! I adore 70’s fashion and your new dresses came out so pretty ✨✂️ #keeponstitching
Beautiful and inspiring! I too appreciate that you included your seam ripping moments! I love how you added the lace trim and ribbon!
What size did you cut it in because alot of people have said they sized down 2 sizes!
I cut my usual size!
Sooo lovely! Your hard work paid off!!! Love your Kenmore machine!!!
I don't know, I've seen some QUITE experienced dressmakers pin along the seam line. I pin across, but always wonder if I should be pinning along the seam!😀
@staystitching I think either version of pinning works - go with what you prefer. Happy Sewing 👍
Exquisite dress for an exquisite lady ✨🧵✨
I have a Gunne Sax dress and quilted jacket from my final dance at school. Do they still exist, the company?
Aw, I love that! I have my aunt's high school graduation dress by Gunne Sax as well! The company hasn't been around for a while, but ModCloth recently did a line with their trademark, so maybe that will continue!
Is a serger a type of overlocker, sorry I live in Australia and newbie to sewing
I hope I don't come over as rude😊
Not rude at all! Yes, I think serger is just an American word for overlocker! It’s what my mom always called hers! ❤️
Helpful video but there are too many commercials. Couldn't even finish watching it😕
Ah, I’m sorry to hear that, I forgot to double check what RUclips added- let me fix it so hopefully it will be better 🩵
Chopped it down to four, I hope that’s better 🤗
What size did you sew? I want to buy this pattern but unsure about the sizing!
One size smaller than you think you would take based off of the measurements
I made this too and made my normal size 18. I wouldn’t size down as the armhole is tight on myself and other sewists have found the same thing.
Your dress is beautiful
Thank you so much Tracy!
