Hello Julie, I bought this pattern a couple of months ago... really pleased to see your comprehensive tutorial come up while searching it....coincidentally have the perfect silk crepe de chine lying in my stash, from your store for it!
I worked summers during the late 60’s picking berries. I bought an original Laura Ashley dress with my summer earnings. I wish I still had the dress I purchased with my summer earnings. (I wore it to death) I bought the pattern and plan on reproducing my summer dress. It makes me smile! Great video. I will be sewing along.
I'm just getting ready to get back into sewing clothing for myself after many years. I so appreciate watching this particular video as a refresher before starting my first sewing project. Thank you.
I was thrilled to see McCalls Laura Ashley pattern re-issues. I was in the planning stage of making this dress, as a nightdress for myself and a dress for my daughter, who just had a baby and is nursing. This is a perfect nursing dress. I will be making my nightdress in original Laura Ashley cotton lawn I bought at the London store in the late 70s. I am still mulling the fabric selection for thy daughter's dress. I am hoping McCalls comes out with a child's version of the pattern: if not I will draft a version. . My little grand daughter would love the swirl factor! I will be following your detailed video of the making of a beautiful Liberty lawn dress.
This video was great! I am a beginner ( really beginner) and am very intimidated by patterns! Will definitely try to follow this dress making with you!
You can do it! I tried to make the video beginner friendly and go over things that once you sew for a little while come second nature. If you have any questions that come up and are not covered in the video, please let me know!
As a beginner, iron your pattern pieces with a warm dry iron before you start. In a pattern like this, it won't matter much if you cut that corner but for some patterns it will. Get in the habit of ironing then as you get more experience, you will figure out when to cheat
The instructions tell me to cut 2 #2 front piece. However, when sewing, the instructions only show sewing piece 1 to 2, then attach to 3. My question is where and how you attach the second #2 piece. Can you help me?
Thank you so much for this video!!!!!
You're very welcome! I hope it was helpful.
You are an excellent instructor ❤❤
Aww Thank you so much, that means a lot!
