He was one of my all-time favorite players on the Mariners. He was truly my inspiration, and he was the reason why I truly loved baseball with all my heart. Thank you Ichiro for all the memories. And we hope to see you soon in Cooperstown!
I always think of an interview Ichiro did years back. He was asked, "what do you think of guys getting mad and breaking the bat ". Ichiro said "I would never do that, I respect the maker of the bat".
Even more so... He once threw his bat after a bad hit, and it hurt him so much, that he sent apology letters to the ones who made his bats. And promised from that day forward he would never do it again. After every hit from that day, he gently laid his bat to the ground.
I do not hate him but he is nowhere near Pete Rose. The Japanese league has never been and never will be the equal of the MLB. If you want to could total hits add in Pete Rose's minor league career.
@Melo Bryant , he is no Rod Carew, or Rickey Henderson (1500 more walks and 900 more stolen bases), or Hank Aaron (who managed 3700+ hits with over 700 of them being homeruns). If Albert Pujols retired now I would put him ahead of Ichiro as a hitter but he will have a couple more crappy seasons to drop his stats.
Should have stopped after the Yankee's job......most MLB players never know when to call it quits and it looks really fucked to hang on for 10 more hits....I though Ichiro was beyond that but I guess not
@MANCHESTER UNITED Hardly. Soccer will NEVER be bigger than American football in America for a number of reasons. 1) it's boring and low scoring. 2) the "stars" look like 80's new wave singers 3) at 90 minutes, it's way to long. 4) The 'fans" are just a bunch of drunken hooligans. Baseball requires many skills and fans have to pay attention to the game to understand it, not get drunk and fight.....LOL...

Seeing your idol walk off the field for the last time is one thing but actually giving him a hug while doing so. Unreal. First ballot hall induction for sure 👍 99%+
Was just about to comment on that. Nobody in Japan doesn't know who Ichiro is, and he knew it was the end of an era for one of the greatest players ever, and one of the key figures in revolutionizing Japanese players playing in the big leagues.
There are not many players who are equally beloved by fans, fellow players, and media alike. Genuinely one of the most likeable players in all of professional sports.
Dear Japan: Thank you for the pleasure of watching your national hero. He demonstrated the highest level of sportsmanship, skill, and integrity. It was an honor to watch him play. He does your entire country proud. Who could have guessed that a little boy from Toyoyama was destined to be enshrined as a legend on the other side of the world?
Now I am feeling the same empty hole inside me as when Shigeo Nagashima ( Japanese baseball great legend ) retired in October 1974...I never thought such feeling would come back again... but life goes on... I thank Ichiro & all the worldwide baseball fans who love Ichiro
Thank you Mariners. My hat off to Seattle Mariners. Thank you for preparing such moving emotional retirement celemony for Ichiro. I love Ichiro, I love Mariners, and I love MLB.
One of the greatest players to wear a baseball uniform in history. It wasn't his shining moment by far but I was glad to see him don a Yankees jersey for a little while. A special player.
Growing up a military brat, I got to see Ichiro play baseball in Japan when he was with the orix blue waves and I also got to see him play against the Devil rays when he first came into the mlb as a mariner. I got to see him play in both of the leagues!
Always quiet and humble, but always gave his all in the field. He knew how to play ball, and he always brought dignity, respect, true sportsmanship, and honor on any field he played at. And he did it all just because he loved the game and anyone who was on his team or his opponent. He wasn’t just a Great Player or a Legend. He was a Great Man. He will be very much missed here in America, but he will always continue to inspire us.
Nothing fake about this man. Played hard. Maximized every single inch of his talent. Stretched out routine groundouts into singles....first ballot HOFer and one of the best to ever play. Gonna miss him!
I had the pleasure of watching Ichiro in person against my Rangers and I'll never forget how fast he was out of the box to first base. What an incredible player he was!
One of my favorite ever players. One of the most athletic players I've ever seen. Had a love and respect for the game I have rarely seen. One of the hardest working players I have ever seen. Also pure class, and nothing but a pleasure to watch. I feel like Japanese baseball officially took hold in the states when he joined the Mariners, and finally earned the respect it deserved among American baseball fans. Beloved by two nations. He will be absolutely sorely missed.
Thank you Ichiro. You are absolutely the best Japanese baseball player than ever. Not only your great records, but effort you have made and your attitude toward baseball made me feel so proud of myself as a Japanese. Nobody else has been loved by people in both America and Japan this much. You are the GOAT.

hirolin black Alright, He is already a legend lol. Some yankee fans(big babies) and racists cry sour grapes though. Let’s see how far he goes. He will be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
Mike Trout had 190 hits in 2013, yeah hardly sniffing distance. Trout and Ichiro are two very different style of players. no reason to try bring a man down just to prop another up. your comment is very un-Ichiro like.
sneakapikachu no it's saying how good ichiro is. Trout is one of the best players in the game. Not the best but one of. It just shows that Ichiro is on another level. I can't bring down a guy who plays pro ball and makes 100 of millions of dollars.
@@fredfrederickson that's Yusei Kikuchi, new Mariners pitcher and former ace of the Seibu Lions in the NPB. He made his MLB debut this game and looked up to Ichiro a lot coming up, I can understand why he'd get kinda choked up being his teammate seeing him retire haha
It started with Griffey and Ichiro and it should end with Griffey and Ichiro. That's how you give the story a happy ending with to Mariners legends together again.
It's crazy when I think about Ichiro. I was a sophomore in high school when this unknown Japanese player took the league by storm as a 26 year old rookie. And thinking he only retired a few years ago well over the age of 40 and still with talent left in his body. This man is a legend in Japan and the USA.

What you are seeing is one hundred percent real. Total honesty. I'm talking about the tears on the players faces and their real sadness saying goodbye to this affable legend and their genuine team leader. I'm also talking about the tears rolling down my face as I watch alone in my office reflecting on Ichiro's extraordinary career. I have nothing but complete admiration, appreciation and respect for this living definition of a professional baseball player. 10/10's effort, commitment, execution, passion, athleticism, hustle, brains, and heart. It was an honor to have your skills showcased in this League on our shores, Ichiro Suzuki. Thank you for caring and for caring about your performance. You will never be forgotten.
For some reason, I've always felt that Ichiro plays the game as it was supposed to be played when it was first invented: put the ball in play, base running, solid defense, and occasional homeruns. Now that the game has evolved into a game of homeruns and strikeouts. It's not that I don't like homeruns. But when it becomes the primary way of scoring, baseball has become a one-dimensional game.
Wicked cool how the Mariners did that. It's like when Jeter and Pettitte came out to get Mariano. These moments are special. Let them have them. Great. Just great.
I was felt blessed to see him play in Miami as we sat in right field, he would talk to the fans while warming up as if they were family, this is the same sort of blessed to see jagr play in Miami as well.
As, a M's fan it was sad for him to go to N.Y. and then Miami. The great thing is that the other league and fans got to see and meet a wonderful player.
Respect to Ichiro. What a legend. As marlins fan I’m proud to have had him on our team where he earned 3000 mob career hits in Miami. What a legend. Baseball will sure miss him. Much respect for him. Thank you Ichiro💯❤️🇯🇵
He was my favorite player. When he came to the Yankees in 2012 I was SO happy. Just to have him play for my favorite team was amazing. Truly one of the best hitters ever.
Same though Jeter will always be my favorite. When i signed I thought i was seeing a screen from one of my old fantasy teams because I didn't think it was possible.

This dude better be a 1st ballot hall of famer. Played hard, played great, played clean. One of the greatest players of his or any generation. To me, Ichiro is what a Hall of Famer should be. A lot of guys get in, IMO, who are great players, but don't belong in the same sentence as Ruth, Dimaggio, Mantle, Mays, etc. This guy does, to me. One of the greatest ever, and he did it right in an era when so many did it wrong. Respect.
Ichiro was good for the game. He played the game the right way. With respect and honor, no big head no bar attitude. He treated other players on his team and others with respect. It wasn't all about him it was for the team.

"Remember kid, there's heroes and there's legends. Heroes get remembered but legends never die, follow your heart kid, and you'll never go wrong." ~The Sandlot 1993... Art LaFleur (The Babe) THANK YOU ICHIRO. YOU ARE ADDED TO THE LIST OF LEGENDS. SEE YOU IN COOPERSTOWN.
I got to meet Ichiro when I was 14 years old in Las Vegas for Big league weekend and he became my idol. I'm 30 now and will miss him greatly.
Just like in American Dad! Reginald, he used to be nothin....now he's a koala and he's cute as a button!
What a legend. Pure class, respect, dedication and stoicism. Played the game hard and beloved by every player.
Kikuchi at 3:02 really got me. Seeing your idol walk off the field for the last time is one thing but actually giving him a hug while doing so. Unreal.
First ballot hall induction for sure 👍
99%+
Was just about to comment on that. Nobody in Japan doesn't know who Ichiro is, and he knew it was the end of an era for one of the greatest players ever, and one of the key figures in revolutionizing Japanese players playing in the big leagues.
A moment Yusei will remember forever.
No, 100%
Classy man. Ichiro!
There are not many players who are equally beloved by fans, fellow players, and media alike. Genuinely one of the most likeable players in all of professional sports.
Dear Japan:
Thank you for the pleasure of watching your national hero.
Japanese legendary!!!
respect from Taiwan.
Respect to you too; our home run hero, Sadaharu Oh is a Japanese, but of Taiwan origin.
Jason Lee ありがとうございます😊
Respect to Taiwan from the USA
Respect to Choo Choo train. Shinsoo Choo is a better player than this Ichiro guy...
Estrading Co Nobody takes it serious
Started his career in Japan. Made his name as a Mariner.
Ended his career as a Mariner, in Japan
He completes the circle of life

最後の試合で、あれだけ観客から声援を貰えた選手はいただろうか?!イチローファンの自分とって寂しさがあります。お疲れ様でした。ありがとう、イチロー。
Ichiro is one of the greatest baseball ball player.
Thank you for giving us dreams and excitement for 28 years.
本当にお疲れ様でした!
One of the greatest players to wear a baseball uniform in history. It wasn't his shining moment by far but I was glad to see him don a Yankees jersey for a little while. A special player.
How can any human being dislike this.. ichiro is one of the greatest baseball players in history....
A true gentleman in and out of the field, an honourable man, I am honour to have lived in Ichiro Suzuki's time and witness his all-around greatness.
Riccardo Verdecia Sr 💯💯💯💯💯💯
just so happens i'm watching this while someone is cutting onions.... Yeah i'll go with that
There cutting them here too
Damn those onions, I can smell them here too! 😭
Growing up a military brat, I got to see Ichiro play baseball in Japan when he was with the orix blue waves and I also got to see him play against the Devil rays when he first came into the mlb as a mariner. I got to see him play in both of the leagues!
Ryzen ありがとうございます😊
Luck bastard. Awesome.
Damn bro you lucky
he taught everyone that u dun hv to be big in size to be a hall of famer, a great player
Nor do you have to hit 30 homers a season
Always quiet and humble, but always gave his all in the field. He knew how to play ball, and he always brought dignity, respect, true sportsmanship, and honor on any field he played at. And he did it all just because he loved the game and anyone who was on his team or his opponent. He wasn’t just a Great Player or a Legend. He was a Great Man.
He will be very much missed here in America, but he will always continue to inspire us.
1:18 - *Dee Gordon bows respectfully, in the style of the Japanese custom*
Ichiro: No! Come on! *Hugs*
Nothing fake about this man. Played hard. Maximized every single inch of his talent. Stretched out routine groundouts into singles....first ballot HOFer and one of the best to ever play. Gonna miss him!
💖THANK YOU VERY MUCH ICHIRO💖
本当に長い間、私たちに勇気を与えてくださり、ありがとうございました。
そして、、、お疲れ様でした。
イチロー選手と同じ時代にいられて、同じ日本人でいられて最高に幸せです。
This is why baseball is the best sport. Allowing a legend to go home again..AS A CONQUERING HERO..Pure class-No other words describe this video.
Booberry33 something you can only see in movies..... Ichiro Suzuki #legend
Being steady for 30 years.......that is really outstanding👏👏
The ultimate professional! I have nothing but great love and respect for Ichiro and I'm not even a Mariners fan
Always loved Ichiro's swing. Glad we got to see him play in the U.S. He went out in a very classy way! Thanks Ichiro. Good luck on the next phase of your life!!
Don't forget 51!
Forever ICHIRO!
ARIGATO!
You said it Uncle Joe! lol
スターリンは流石に草
ヨシフ・スターリン ありがとうございます😊
I think he in the top 10 of the greatest baseball player of all time for sure is Ichiro.
Honestly, I don’t think anyone can argue that. Perhaps the purest hitter of all time, not to mention his blessings fielding wise.
@Melo Bryant can you stop spamming it in the comments
No way
SnoozeHub lol
As a player I felt ichiro was overrated a bit. Hard to not like him though. He played the game the right way.
I'm Taiwanese and I still can not believe this day is coming.
He is a legend!! Thank you Ichiro.
Jack14231
im japanese.
i hope ohtani will be next legend!!
hirolin black Alright, He is already a legend lol. Some yankee fans(big babies) and racists cry sour grapes though. Let’s see how far he goes. He will be a first ballot Hall of Famer.
5 years out and it still brings a tear to my eye.
Ten consecutive 200 plus hit seasons. Mike trout never even sniffed 200 hits in a season . Ichiro did it ten times in a row
I can't bring down a guy who plays pro ball and makes 100 of millions of dollars.
sneakapikachu Who hurt your feelings?
@@jackwhite4091 trout is absolutely the best player in baseball. Bar none. Pretty obvious lmao
Thesavagemeister77 yes I said he's one of the best.
4:10 anyone else notice ken Griffey jr?
He was in the booth that game with his buddy Eduardo Perez and the first game he was down in the photographer's well on the field taking pictures lol
3:03 that guy went from totally fine to crying from whatever Ichiro said
Kinda hard to miss him lol
@@fredfrederickson that's Yusei Kikuchi, new Mariners pitcher and former ace of the Seibu Lions in the NPB. He made his MLB debut this game and looked up to Ichiro a lot coming up, I can understand why he'd get kinda choked up being his teammate seeing him retire haha
It started with Griffey and Ichiro and it should end with Griffey and Ichiro. That's how you give the story a happy ending with to Mariners legends together again.
God bless you my friend still remember watching you on debut on t.v., you're an icon and inspiration to the world of baseball. GOD BLESS YOU👏👏👍👍
Ichiro is the BEST international hitter at all time ! He is a G.O.A.T in baseball! 🤩
Blessings from Taiwan ! 🤗
Bravo 4 he said best international hitter? Pete rose isnt an international hitter he was born and started in America
Bravo 4 bro why you so salty and bringing up Rose, no one was talking about him
@Bravo 4 Nope, Ichiro is better. Facts. Stay salty.
@Bravo 4 That's a lot of salt!
The guy who made me love baseball, thank you Ichiro.
It's crazy when I think about Ichiro. I was a sophomore in high school when this unknown Japanese player took the league by storm as a 26 year old rookie. And thinking he only retired a few years ago well over the age of 40 and still with talent left in his body. This man is a legend in Japan and the USA.
God bless ichiro! The last of the greats from the late 90s and early 2000s boom period
Straight from the Tokyo Dome field in Bunkyo, Tokyo - Japan to the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. Oh, how sweet & well deserved that sounds. *Long Live The King* (and no I don’t mean you Felix Hernandez) *#51 ICHIRO SUZUKI !!!* 🇯🇵
For 28 years, thank you ever so.
Do not cry! YUSEI.
Your MLB has just begun.
They are many greats but I'm happy I've lived to see this man played his whole career. Thank you Ichiro.
A true class act! 👏👏👏What a career!!! Never flashy. Just let his work do all the talking for him! First ballot Hall of Famer! 😁👍
@ drerichu
You are undoubtedly spot on with that comment!
His game-play was and is the epitome of "True Baseball!"
Strategy has just left the building
Absolutely a LEGEND.
The way he treats baseball and himself are pure GREATNESS.
See you in Cooperstown.
Wicked cool how the Mariners did that. It's like when Jeter and Pettitte came out to get Mariano. These moments are special. Let them have them. Great. Just great.
Que clase de jugador Ichiro, admirable!!
I'm a Mariners fan and oh man, it *hurt* to see him go. But it was so good to see how Yankees and later Marlins fans embraced him.
Too bad he didn't play all his years in the MLB. He would have destroyed Rose's MLB hit record.
He's was a amazing player for the Mariners even though I am a tigers fan he's also my hero to and also even if I am not Japanese he will always be my hero too!
Ending his career in japan with the mariners and Griffey being there. Tailor made
From Texas, wanna say THANK YOU to Ichiro for so many memories. One of the best players and people to ever set foot on a Major League Field. ありがとう!
Great player. He did it clean. Much respect.
Ichiro was our childhood. I spent more than half of my life idolizing him. It's bittersweet to see him retired.
ありがとう。イチローさん!
Thank you HERO!
King Felix is the only teammate left who went through all the thick and thin with Ichiro as Seattle Mariners, watching him sobbing in the background and trying to hold back all the emotions was sad and also marks the end of an era, an era of a remarkable legendary career from Japan to the States. We'll miss you, ICHIRO!
Very great player..Ichiro was an unstoppable hitter who also played great defense
I'm not a big Baseball fan but, at any moment or any place I might be if he was playing I stopped and, stared. He was just so good at what he did: the BEST hitter I ever saw" and, he was a GREAT human being. THANK YOU!
Ichirooooo!!!!..que pelotero!!!..que gran reconocimiento..de su gente y mis respetos para Los Seattle Mariners..
The GOAT will be missed
Who's cutting these onions, making my eyes tear up
This is absolutely sad.
But I respect to his retirement decision.
Thank you ICHRO
otam1800 嬉しいです😊
I had NO IDEA that Ichiro was still playing!!!!
Without question, a baseball LEGEND!!!
he wasn't....
I think the Mariners resigned him basically for just this one game so he can have a proper ending to his legendary career
@@BendyDH That's some real real nice sleuthin there gopillar!
