It's clear that It’s Okay To Not Be Okay is not a rom-com. The drama’s heavy themes are laid in front of us in its less-than-a-minute teasers, clearly showing that it’s not a plot laced with humour but something that addresses truths about trauma, mental health and more. It’s also a love story, but we highly doubt that the narrative will simply take us to a ‘love solves everything’ route. With this, our most painful plot prediction for this drama (which we're partially not okayabout, to be honest) is Gae-Tae and Mun-Yeong choosing to split up right when we think everything is going well between them.
Before you protest, hear us out. It’s a common theme for Asian dramas to have two characters helping each other evolve into better people. But in the end, these characters still change due to their own terms and not because they just want to please the other person. We believe it’ll be the same for It’s Okay To Not Be Okay. As the title suggests, the main leads will probably serve as proof to one another that you can learn to accept your flaws and live honestly despite them. But, in order to do so, you have to go on this journey to healing and self-discovery alone eventually. With this, we can totally see Gae-Tae and Mun-Yeong choosing to separate until they become better on their own, instead of co-depending on one another through an endless tug-of-war of emotions. This makes for a healthier conclusion for either character who will surely have their fair share of challenges throughout the story.
We’ll get an open-ended finale
As much as we hate to think about a drama’s ending before it even airs, we’d like to throw in our finale plot predictions in this lineup to spice things up even more. Considering everything we’ve pitched so far, an open-ended finale is not really that far-fetched when you think about it. Since we’re already betting on Gae-Tae and Mun-Yeong splitting up near the ending, we think that the series will conclude with the two meeting again on better terms. However, there's a high chance that the writers would leave it to our imaginations whether the two protagonists decide to be together again or not. That will be a bittersweet ending for sure, but considering how the overarching theme that life is anything but a fairytale, it seems plausible. You’d have to agree that it’s quite fitting!
Whether we get things right or not, one thing's certain: we're extremely excited to binge this K-drama weekly on Netflix starting 20 June and see where the story will take us. What say you?

Rewatching now that Queen of Tears is out 🥹 On episode 2 he shows up looking all handsome and surprises the female lead when she was least expecting it, I was reminded of this scene and had to rewatch 🥲 I miss IOTNBO so much 😭
the thing is that we often see that look of kim soo hyun but i feel like he's a different person bcs of his stares, all i see is that he is gangtae.. and thats on his brilliant acting skill.
That morning, Mun Yeong is clearly sad Gang Tae refuse to wake up to go with them. But she's willing to put aside her feeling for Sang Tae and that touch my heart so much. And when Gang Tae show up, Mun Yeong and Sang Tae smile just lit up the room.
This drama, ha~ definitely going to stay as my favourite for a very very long time.

I just love how MY truly loves and cares for Sangtae as much as she loves Kangtae. She lovingly calls him oppa even if it seems like at times she's only using ST to get to KT. But she genuinely wants a brother like him from what I can tell. She even cried when she opened up his drawing. Respect to a cold hearted but loving queen ♡

Ko Moon Young, Moon Gang Tae and Moon Sang Tae all have " Moon " in their full name which is 문 in Korean and it means door. In my opinion, I think the director put 'Moon' in their name full name on purpose. The door symbolizes mystery and something beyond, the mysterious beyond is hidden from sight by the closed door, and an action must be taken before the otherside becomes visible. So when we face a closed door, we face a choice. What action will we take? Will we turn back, or will we push forwards and see what's behind? Basically the three of them faced a choice when they met again after many years. The choice of whether they should open the closed door and face their past / trauma to understand themselves and each other better, to live a free life without anything or anyone holding them back, or not take the chance and run away from their past, trauma, and each other. But they chose to open the door and see the light, and look at them being a family now #MMM family. That's why Sang Tae said "I can just open the door and get out" when the patient said "Don't let the past trap you, or you'll end up like me" (the bus scene). 😭 ❤

This drama had me laughing, crying, touched, literally everything. But the best part is it taught me so many important values in life and honestly I feel healed through each episode! I don't think I'm ever gonna move on :')

But personally I learned about how sometimes the strongest-looking people are actually so fragile and needs support the most, learned about how it's okay to be 'selfish' because your happiness should be first, before trying to make the people around you happy.
And the butterfly hug method + the counting 1, 2, 3 before doing something reckless, whew! Never thought these things exist but honestly it's very practicable and so far useful for someone who's quite explosive like me. There are still so many others things regarding mental health and autism too, I definitely learned a lot from this drama.

okay but can we please talk about Sangtae and Moon young's development?? I love how both have started to be accepting of each other and care for one another. Moon young started out caring about herself and being indifferent towards others and now has so much love for Gangtae and his brother. and Sangtae learns to accept others. I applaud this drama for such amazing characters!
I expect nothing less from Seo Ye Ji and Kim Soo Hyun but Oh Jung Se deserves an award for his role as Sang Tae here. I first watched him in When the Camellia
Blooms and I hated his character there lol It’s good to see an actor try out versatile roles. Oh and he went along with a fan to a theme park in his Sang Tae character 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
Oh Jung-Se did something very special with this show. Most of the time I always watch a show and find myself thinking this actor is good or this actor is not so good. Whenever he was on screen I forgot I was even watching a tv show and just felt pure emotion from him. What an outstanding actor!

Yes agree, finally she gets attention, she deserves it. One thing I notice about this drama is all casts are wonderful. Particularly main cast, 3 of them, no one overpower others, so balance. When they together do acting, you can see that every cast strengthen others and they are shining together.

As a widow of 2 boys, I feel so sorry for the younger bro who's forced to grow up so fast and to look after his younger bro, and an autistic bro some more. My heart goes out to Gang-tae every time. Still waiting for the full version of the song by Yongzoo to be released since it came on at epi8. Such an appropriate song for this ending. I loved how Moon Young advised Sang-tae to be natural and dun try so hard in front of the camera - shows a softer side of her. I hoped all 3 actors and this drama will go on to win many awards in 2020/2021.
Kim Soo-hyun of Family Photo is really handsome and kissing scene further demonstrates his charm after military service. He is also an excellent actor. He keeps in touch with the audience through various emotions. He can adapt to any role and make it work. This drama is too perfect and love the chemistry of the three of them.
As someone who doesn't know much about mental illness, It's Okay to Not Be Okay has taught me a lot and has given me a broader perspective on this matter. It shows how someone's mental health can actually affect people around them, it shows how to approach someone with mental illness, it shows how professional treatment can actually help, it shows how much love the parents gave to their kids can actually influence the kids' personality, it shows how hard it is to grow up having trauma, and more than that this family has taught me about self care, empathy, pain, healing, love, friendship, and family. This drama will end in 2 weeks, but I swear this drama will always have a special place in my heart. It will be forever alive, and I will always remember all the scenes and keep replaying it on my mind.
As Kim Soo Hyun always says, this is a Human Healing Drama. It is true. It was truly a rollercoaster ride each episodes, but everytime I finish watching each episodes, my heart warms. As each character in the film are healed, so am I. I'm so grateful for the writer who made each episodes meaningful with all those fairytales story, for all the crews who work hard to make great cinematography, for all the lead casts and their amazing acting performance; Kim Soo Hyun, Seo Yea Ji, and Oh Jung Se who successfully bring me to their life story, for all the supporting casts who play JuRi, JuRi's mom, JaeSu, Lee Sang In, OK hospital director, nurses and patients, for all the beautiful OSTs, to conclude I'm super thankful for this drama and how perfect timing it is to come in the most difficult time (pandemic). I hope this drama ends well in two weeks, coz I'm pretty sure I'm going to miss this series once it ends.🥺💙✨

The amount of understanding and patience MY demonstrated toward ST while still looking visibly upset not only shows the evolution of her character, but also is a testament to how great of an actor Seo Ye Ji is!
This is the type of Kdrama where every episode you look forward to hearing the moral of the story.... this was the perfect drama for when the world is facing social distancing issues... thank you Netflix for making this lock down emotionally deep and beautiful... Literally so touched. Sang Tae and Moon Young didn’t know what TRUE FAMILY is.. he brought up the sir name thing, she brought up about picture. But no, all of that isn’t true. The way Moon Young went to take picture with Sang Tae even though she’s not in the mood, and Kang Tae knew about Moon Young’s mother but he threw his pride out and came to the studio anyway. That’s the TRUE FAMILY.

I cried because I was really moved in this scene:
•When Sangtae was practising his poses so diligently (Oh Jung Se, you have always been an amazing actor but I think this role became your best yet; you deserve so many awards!).
•When Moon Young showed him compassion, unconditional acceptance and encouragement that all he needed was to be himself. She always tells it like it is but her personal development has been beautiful to watch; she is being considerate of and patient with others. Seo Ye Ji, you are one of my fav actresses and this is my fav character of yours apart from your character in "Save Me"; you deserve so many awards too!
•When Gangtae arrived looking 'scrumptious' as Moon Young would say, but my heart broke seeing him with those sad eyes (I love him & with both hair styles but this role made me prefer him with his hair down now. Actually no, I prefer both but rather it's that he looks better with less foundation on).
Then to see these 3 misfits fit together perfectly to complete their puzzle by becoming a family, the thing they each needed.
Kim Soo Hyun, one of my fav actors since 2009, you keep amazing me. You have become the blueprint for how to make a great comeback by choosing the right project post-military service (*cough Ji Chang Wook *cough, I'm totally throwing shade at you right now)! You deserve awards for this role too! I'm not a fan of explicit movies but I understood why you took up the challenge of your abstract characters in Real. It was also a smart move to choose a risky risqué role before rather than after your military service coz if it "flopped (to be honest, this doesn't matter if you showed your acting talents, had personal growth & felt happy with the project)", there's time to forget but reflect on it too & if it "succeeded", you leave on a high & it heightens anticipation for your return.
These three are like the triple threat of talent galore! Well done!
So far the whole team of IOTNBO (aka PBIO), you all have done an amazing job so far, you have created a masterpiece that can educate the public on not only mental illnesses and learning difficulties (neurodevelopmental differences) but on so much more including the importance and impact of emotional wellbeing, nature & nurture, acceptance, effective communication, empathy kindness & acceptance. These people indeed executed the exact feelings of the character they're playing. And Ko Moon Yeong? I can't even say any word but BEAUTIFUL. These casts will be surely missed when the drama ends! 😭❤️
I actually swooned the first time I saw this (of course I've watched it a few more since)! This is one of my fave shows in 2020 and I can't get enough. I think I re-watch almost every scene in this series! I laugh, I cry and I was even spooked a time or two. All of the actors are fantastic, but the chemistry between Kim, Seo and Oh is off the charts! Oh Jung-se has to win multiple awards for his portrayal of Sang-tae. Thank you to everyone working on this series! 🥰🤩👏
The ending where they all smile hit my feels. Bc each of them all had trauma/problems that haunt them. And in the end they're all smiling sincerely.

I’m not gonna lie I’ve seen a bunch of Korean shows but this one brought a tear in my eye probably for each episode that I couldn’t control no matter how much I tried, when I first heard about this show I heard it was slow and depressing but watching it I’m glad it didn’t feel that way, I really got into it, the acting from all three was great, the way it tackles mental health, disabilities, friendship, family, siblinghood, love is amazing I’m not gonna spoil it for those who haven’t reached the end but this show made me laugh, cry, made my eyes water, made me feel sad, somewhat connected as if I was in it being so invested in it, the way this trio shine together made me appreciate this show more than I thought I would, I don’t have any brothers but it made me wish I had one from watching this, one of the BEST K-Dramas I’ve seen and would love to watch it again someday for sure, I think this show connected with people without even realising, when it comes to experiences or just the understanding of what’s going on you get so into watching shows like this and other K-Dramas you really enjoy it,
The bright smiles that Mun Yeong and Sang Tae gave Gang Tae when he arrived warms my heart so much. I want the three of them to be safe, happy, and have allllll the good luck and healing thrown their way.

KSH recently said in his vogue Korea interview that while filming it's okay he was never relaxed emotionally and physically. It shows that he was truly into the character so much. From the beginning to the ending he suffered and healed with Gang tae.
