  • The three-day trip included some difficult diplomacy when Scholz met at length with Chinese President Xi Jinping Tuesday. The leading topics on the agenda included Germany and the EU's trade ties with China, and Russia's war on Ukraine. This was the first meeting between Scholz and Xi since Germany introduced its new strategy to de-risk from China last year. Has this changed relations?

    Subsidies? Do you know that the selling price of Chinese electric vehicles sold in Europe is more than twice the selling price in China? Imagine that if the price is the same as the domestic price in China, European consumers would meet their demand for electric vehicles, which would be fatal to European car manufacturers. So, who is the problem with being so expensive yet popular?

    • @MrJdsenior
      @MrJdsenior Месяц назад

      Yes, subsidies, look up the word. Chinese vehicles sell for nothing in China because very few would be sold if they didn't, compared to what is sold now. And I love the video or the new ricer Porsche (your nickname, not mine) with busted suspensions, no accident needed, electronics cycling endlessly through resets to the point that the car is rendered permanently parked, first day of ownership. Oh, that 'quality', OMG! And did I mention Chinese EVs going up in flames, CONSTANTLY? the service after the sale is sure to be wonderful, with one of the largest Chinese EV manufacturers going belly up recently. You guys slay me. Almost forgot, get out the wieners and marshmallows.

    • @wintersl4544
      @wintersl4544 Месяц назад

      @@MrJdsenior I don't know if it's a natural bias or if you're addicted to your own information cocoon. Come to China and take a look. Nowadays, many countries in China are exempt from visas, or you can use 144 hours of visa free transit to transfer goods. You can see that domestic electric vehicles in China are running all over the streets, and more than half of the cities are electric vehicles. Of course, we do not exclude foreign brands. I have my own Audi Q5 and a Tesla M3, and my wife and father also have two domestic electric vehicles. You said, "One of the largest electric vehicle manufacturers in China has recently gone bankrupt." This information is false. The largest electric vehicle manufacturer in China is BYD, which is selling worldwide and is already the world's largest electric vehicle manufacturer (including hybrid). As for the bankrupt electric vehicle manufacturers, it is true that China is the country with the most intense competition for electric vehicles in the world, with hundreds of companies. However, competition naturally leads to bankruptcy, which is a very market economy. Only domestic winning companies provide high-quality and low-priced products to the world, so their competitiveness and quality are invincible. Seeing it with my own eyes, I always feel that an educated person in their own world is worthy of pity for talking nonsense with their eyes closed.

    Executives from two of Germany's three major automakers came to China with Scholz this time. Ola Kallenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz, made it clear that exiting China is not an option, but to expand his company's position in China; BMW Group Chairman Oliver Zipse even emphasized that " "Free trade and competition" principles, and bluntly stated that "it does not feel threatened by Chinese automakers."
    The report first pointed out that China-Germany relations are still close, especially in the economic and trade field. According to data from the German Institute for Economic Research (IW), Germany's total direct investment in China in 2023 will be 11.9 billion euros (approximately RMB 91.8 billion), a year-on-year increase of more than 4%, setting a record high. Unlike American and Japanese companies, German companies’ investment in China shows little sign of weakening.
    "Germany plays a very special role in China's economic development and foreign trade relations." Max J. Zenglein, chief economist at the Mercator Center for China Studies in Berlin, pointed out that electronic products and electronic technology , as well as machinery and chemicals, remain Germany's important export products to China. "As countries such as the United States and Japan have more acute relations with China, Germany plays an important role in accessing technology and capital and is definitely in an advantageous position in this regard."
