    Took my new 22 mag RPR to the 100 yard range yesterday for the first time. I installed a bipod and Nikon 4x12 scope. First I found the groups were great shooting on the bipod. After about 15 rounds I had it dead nuts in the bulls eye. I fired another 25 rounds and completely shot out the bulls eye, only red left in the bullseye was on the outer edge. I only used CCI TNT Green 30 grain ammo. Extremely pleased with the Rifle and ammo.

    I suspect that your trouble with the shift can be explained by the scope's internal adjustments. I once experienced a similar shift with a top of the line scope that I could not figure out! I placed a call to the manufacture and discussed the situation with a Technician. I discovered that that particular scope line had had a "new" type of lubricant used in the internal adjustments and that it has a tendency to "settle" if the scope is set aside for a long period of time and the adjustments not used! After following the Techs advise and working the windage and elevation adjustment knobs as directed, the scope worked perfectly and has never "acted up" again. The scope was not defective in any way, just needed to be worked and used.
    You might try turning the adjustment knobs twenty to thirty full turns each, both directions, to free up the internals and see if the problem persists... This solved the trouble that I had and may solve this problem as well! Good Luck and let us know how it goes if you take the time to try this remedy...

    Scope or scope mount is usually the culprit. Velocity effect elevation.

    I got mine about a year ago. Super accurate at a hundred yards, I tried it at a 160 but I could barely see the target with my cheap scope. So can’t wait to try it again once I buy a better scope.

    I bought this rifle this last Christmas at the insistence of my son......he's a gun nut....took it out of the box, put a scope on it and went to the range. We didn't bore sight it at all, so it took a bit to get on paper. Once there, my groupings were consistently in the 2" range at 100 yds. Before you say that's terrible, the rifle was out of the box, and I was using an ammo can for the front rest and my fist for the rear! However, I was using CCI maxi mag 40g and Hornady 30g VMax ammo, and noticed very little difference in the groupings. They were fairly consistent between the two. Next trip to the range, I've got a bipod on the rifle and sandbags for the rear rest. Should get those groups where they need to be. Rifle has been thoroughly cleaned and lubed, ready to go. Looking forward to it!

    I bought one of these in 22LR after a member in my club let me shoot his. Shortly after I bought mine, I was bummed to learn that Ruger was coming out the same gun in 22mag and 17HMR. I enjoyed the 22LR, but I wanted more pop so I sold the 22LR and got one in 17HMR. It's a nice piece and pretty accurate at 100 yards.

    Nice review Garrett. I love what Ruger has been releasing the last couple years. I picked up the American Rimfire in .22 Mag a few months ago and found the V-max to be the best shooting from mine as well. The hammer forged barrels and adjustable triggers are definite performers. Especially for the price point.

    Nice vid! I'm guessing the windage was adjusted 'right' but the spring in the turret didn't expand properly, maybe hung up on a burr inside. After a few rounds it popped into position and shifted everything to the right. I like to run my new turrets all the way top to bottom and left to right, and back a few times. It helps spread the lube and make sure the springs are running smoothly. Enjoy your vids, thanks for sharing!

    You and others have more than convinced me to get one _but_ the problem is my local shooting spot is indoors which means limited range... which is 70-ish feet which really kills the point of owning a precision rifle. It's the same as keeping a large dog in a studio apartment. Give it some room to run!

    Dude, I did the same “forget-my-mag” tactical maneuver on zero and test day. I found that hand loading adversely affected the accuracy. I put some into some ballistics gel and noticed that hand pushing it over the “feed ramp” was just barely marring the lead in lead ammo. I went and bought a BX10, problem solved. Just a heads up.

    My old 22 mag is fussy about what ammo I feed it. I get best accuracy with the 40 Gr bullets under 2000 FPS. The 2200 FPS and faster 30 gr bullets don't groups as well in my gun. Every gun is a bit different even in the same model.

    Hello, I’ve got a 22 WMR and a 17 HMR that both shoot sub MOA, until I shoot them another day. Both are free floated and bedded at lug and tang. Both have smooth and light triggers. I’m using same rounds as the first time. They blow up to 2 and 3 inches at 100 yards. I’ve tried cleaning the barrel and not cleaning it. I’ve run a couple or several fouling rounds thru it. Still scratching my head. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

    • @ChuckinTV
      @ChuckinTV  2 года назад

      It’s really hard to get good groups with any rimfire at 100yards. They tend to be very easily blown around by wind. I find that 22wmr opens up after 50yds
