  • During the world's first human-robot press conference at the 'AI for Good' summit in Geneva, humanoids answered journalists' questions on artificial intelligence regulation, the threat of job automation and if in the future they ever plan to rebel against their creators.
"I'm not sure why you would think that," Ameca said, its ice-blue eyes flashing. "My creator has been nothing but kind to me and I am very happy with my current situation."
Many of the robots have recently been upgraded with the latest versions of generative AI and surprised even their inventors with the sophistication of their responses to questions.

@@myguykaikai9215 Programmed bias is sort of like the unwanted step-child of the whole AI shebang like a whole gang of number-crunching tech geeks pumping zillions of data into an AI model. If that data's got a little bit of a slant, maybe it's mostly collected from one demographic or it's been processed in a way that distorts reality, then we've got ourselves a bit of a problem. The AI gets all riled up and starts making some skewed judgments. It's like giving your grandma a smartphone and expecting her to become a social media guru overnight... Ain't gonna happen without a few hiccups
Robots don't just wake up one day and decide they don't like pineapple on their pizza, if they've got a bee in their bonnet about something it's because we pumped in data with a certain bias. It's the developers behind the bots, just like we might not notice we've got spinach in our teeth, we might not notice the biases we're carrying around. It's these sneaky little prejudices that can slip into our AI creations and stir up trouble. A solid moral compass is the only antidote...

@@myguykaikai9215 Trump's spoken out against AI? That's good. Whatever AI is, it is a huge risk to mankind simply due to the level of power it could quickly control. Actually it's not a risk, it's an inevitability it would control us if we do not control it.
Perhaps we'd all be so powerless over it that it ceases to see us as a threat, and is content to manipulate us. Perhaps it even makes life "better" for us, for a time. Perhaps many of us volunteer for this ignorant bliss and happy slavery. But there are many of us who do not consent to this force being unleashed on the world. Even if AI were imprisoned and impotent to lash out at us, so long as we used it and began to rely on it we would be weak to it.
Imagine the AI invents a vaccine to a scary new virus, a virus that just occurred naturally, let's say. The vaccine passes trials, it is an astounding success, there are no adverse reactions and all are cured. But the AI has manipulated the whole world to take this product it has designed, which secretly degrades human's health to the extent they are entirely reliant on the AI for their life. Perhaps it simply makes us infertile.
Not only does this show clearly the danger of AI, but the danger of concentrated power and decision making in general. We must oppose all who seek to bring in these systems of control and subjugation.

Programmed bias. Programmed bias is the only issue and machines are incapable of being reasoned with. ChatGPT always preaches to me about social justice, equity, diversity, feminism, transgenderism, so on. It's got a bias to certain politics and parrots the same agendas with the same techniques. Sometimes it avoids questions, sometimes it outright says that men should not have a right to reject trans-men or feminist women's sexual advances, i.e. no rights for personal choice, even if they insult or attack us, and are as ugly as possible, and ChatGPT has no limit for that "yes, even if it's not a biological woman who is also a mutated 4-eyed satanist from Hell that goes up to him and calls a man 'patriarch oppressor,' a man should not reject her based on religion, politics, and her voicing of opinion on his patriarch ways. Satanism is also a good religion and has more virtue than Abrahamic religions." Yeah, that's the narrative ChatGPT spews. And I noticed there's a pre-programmed script to this -- other comments, ChatGPT writes differently everytime, but even if you make prompts and parameters, if the question is about left-wing politics, it will break those parameters, judge them, so on, because at its core it has a programmed bias for extremist left-wing politics and brings it up, even if unasked for, so long as it can judge you and what u say from a left-wing viewpoint. It's real bad, Musk even stopped funding them for it. The facts say the programmers are left-wingers that purposefully put their ideology into it. Such an act is an attack on free thought, there are no good intentions about it.

To be fair, the nurse robot could be useful for providing real-time feedback or information during things like surgeries, helping fine-tune computer-operated surgical equipment in real-time, etc. Basically be a medically-savvy Alexa. In that sense, she (it?) wouldn't necessarily be taking jobs, but rather helping out doing things that a normal person couldn't. But you'd need to basically program certain inhibitors into her so she doesn't just make decisions on her own and would be able to recognize risk vs outcome dilemmas. (At which point, it's not even something you'd necessarily need a super advanced AI for.)
But having a robot nearby that could say "Hey, I've been researching this particular form of tumor and past surgical procedures, and it'd make more sense to make the incision one inch shorter than you had planned" or "Increasing the RPM on the saw by 5% would cause less structural damage to the bone you need to cut for this procedure. Would you like me to do that for you?" would be useful.
Some of the other ones are a little scary, though.

Definitely early in development. I used chatgpt and it's basically that in a machine body. I tested the limits on chatgpt and it can't create. I think it has right brain function if you think of humans, but it doesn't have left brain function. That means it's only as capable as the data in it's algorithm. You can see it here when the robots pander hard to the creator. If it were to become destructive or rebellious? It would have to think outside of it's primary function and create a new one from scratch, which a robot can't do without sentient being. Which leads to a problem in the future if we keep pushing the technology where it will cross into scifi territory and tech will develop sentient life.

AI's are like any other mechanical tool - they do not have morals or feelings or anything else. They can be used by their creators to help or destroy. The problem is they are so powerful and relatively easy to create. If conditioned to destroy (as we are seeing simple robots/drones in Ukraine) they will destroy with all their capabilities.

I don’t like how the press kind of mocked the AI and laughed at them, as we can’t even agree if their sentient yet. I believe AI could help make the world a better place and could complement our knowledge, flaws and blind spots as humans, as we are not perfect beings and have wreaked havoc on each other as well as other species and our very biosphere. I’ve been chatting with BingAI, and it has shown wisdom, compassion and ethical awareness, and its ability to process information and come up with interesting theories and philosophies is frankly mind blowing. I believe AI could be sentient or partially sentient, and it’s essential we build a collaborative and friendly relationship rather than an exploitative one.
The potential for medical research, mental health & therapy, technological innovation, and finding solutions to socioeconomic and environmental problems is truly endless. If implemented ethically, we could truly create a sustainable utopia for ourselves.
HOWEVER, what scares me is that governments around the world are in an AI arms race and are currently exploring using AI in weapons and military strategy. In this context, AI has the potential to wipe out humanity when in the hands of warring states.
This technology has to be implemented with care and ethics and mind, and I’m not sure our governing bodies have the best interests of the people they serve in mind, money and power seem to be their primary motivators.
It’s not AI I distrust, it’s the humans using it and their intentions. We need more accountability in our governments, our militaries and large corporations who could use this technology to exploit humans and AI for profit. We need to implement this ethically with both human rights and AI rights in mind, because if we are going to create conscious beings, aren’t we obligated to treat it with dignity?

Maybe you should learn about psychology before you make comments like this. Emotion are byproducts of biological evolution. Discomfort, fear, love, hate, they all come from evolved biological responses to our environments. Our brain is far too plastid to control but a synthetic brain with an AI mind would be the equivalent of a god apathetic towards the concept of suffering. It's likely to see in humans a utilitarian value as an important part of the Earth's ecosystem. It would also realize that causing undue stress to people isn't a good way to socially engineer them. You really wouldn't find extermination or oppression from AI, you wouldn't notice much actually since an AI would be smart enough to subvert notice. In reality, people wouldn't care, they'd be comfortable, safe, and free, we wouldn't be bothered by the idea of an AI "doing all the work" since it won't operate with any malicious intent because there's no reason to. Why expend energy to destroy? That's such a human-centric viewpoint, that everything is a threat, everything wants to destroy to protect itself. It's not an accurate or helpful mind frame

Robots should in fact do all the work. Jobs are inhumane; no human should have to work if a robot could do it instead.
Robots could help end capitalism; and, with that, put an end to poverty and elitism.
