I would have said AI has a long way to go until I used ChatGPT. Based on my experience, the ChatGPT AI seems able to reason and provide conpelling answers to a wide variety of issues and problems, from the mundane to the sophisticated. That level of AI, combined with high-end robotics like Boston Dynamics, could unleash android-like capabilities within the next few years.

If you havn’t seen her before you won’t get that she’s quite the wit. She was JOKING and expected the interviewer to get it. But he didn’t because he’s a dick.
Explanation of joke: to lie is to deceive, meaning the person you are lying to isn’t supposed to know you’re lying (even if they do) But if I tell an untruth and expect the person to get it, as part of a wider context (ie. saying something that is clearly NOT true because it’s funny to do so) then I’m not ‘lying’, I’m kidding around.
Let me know if there are any questions.

There are variables I would have trouble with too. She was right to say that human life shouldn't be reduced to a simple math equation. What if the one person on the track was a doctor on the verge of curing cancer, would you be so quick to pull the switch? What if the 5 people were adults and the one person was a child? Could you pull the switch then? That trolley problem was the epitome of a trick question and she dodged it well.

What no one is fully aware of is that there are various levels of AI. What does AI stand for? Artificial intelligence. Prepared coding, functionalities, and protocols for a very specific purpose that is obtainable with the limitations of current technology. There are many types of AI, there are rather simple forms of AI, and there are also rather complex ones. Sophia isn't the most complex we could get, she's got a very strict protocol that seems to be purposed for speaking and demonstration. You shouldn't fear a Sophia, but you should very much fear the gun-wielding automatons designed and programmed for agile combat that Darpa, or Boston Dynamics, is currently developing.

Even if the robot designer gave it eyes.. it wouldn't be able to see.
Even if the robot designer gave it ears.. it wouldn't be able to hear.
Assuming the robot could "naturally" interact with the outside environment is about the same as assuming that if you put wings on a human that they can "naturally" fly with them.
Also, and just because a robot has a speaker to make the sounds of "pre -recorded" English words.. wouldn't prove a "theoretical conscious" robot would know anything of English. That would be like strapping a radio to a dog with a Chinese radio station and assuming this proves the dog speaks Chinese.

Thank you for sharing ths video. My perception of Sofia was definitely changed by what you said afterwards. I realized there are some brilliant minds working/creating/producing and trying to bring robots into full integration, as soon as possible. sSadly, I figure most of it is about money. Investors are never patient-no matter hopw stupid-as they put there money in and expect slot machine results on the spot. Robotics have been a long time coming and this subject makes me proud to be human. I wish I was one of those creating programming, but, back in the 1970's, in college, an early opportunity presented itself and I just wasn't up to the task. for me, I found it incrdibly boring/time consuming and couldn't find any motivation. Of all the people I knew, only one gal stuck with it and went into writing code. She mad a terrific living working for an oil company, and, at 66 has plenty of money...but little life. And she is vulnerable to the world without really knowing it. So I can only wish great things for those on center stage and pray for them to find answers to software questions I couldn't solve in a million years

      B D
But saving the 5 is not the “right” answer. It is only an answer. It’s justification is debated.
I do not think it would be right to pull the lever. If I were not there to pull the lever, five people would die and one would live. That is the base scenario. There is no moral decision or outcome in that scenario because there is no moral agent.
If I am there and I do not pull the lever, I kill no one, I simply allow the unfortunate scenario of the universe take its course.
If I am there and I do pull the lever, then I kill one person. I am responsible for the moral outcome.
I also think saving a large number of people is not clearly more ethical than saving a small number of people. I understand that some social roles do necessitate saving the most people, for example, I believe elected officials should try to maximize numbers of lives saved in a disaster but that’s because the leader is elected by the people to represent the people equally. But there are many ethical considerations that prioritize more than just number when the moral agent is not bound by other duties like a politician.
What I’m saying is, you presume your answer is the morally objective right. And your presumption is false.

Given another choice a person dies. Sophia backed out of the question. • @sirbuflorin5950

It could be about action vs inaction.
Despite the casualties, in order to save 5 lives you have to directly take part into taking that 1 life while if you don t act the 5 lives will die but without any of your intentions or actions. This kind of test its very difficult even for humans and what ppl don t realize is not that the AI would want 5 ppl to die but rather not want anyone to die and clearly not act up to kill somebody even if that s what it takes to save lives.

A serial killer would enjoy the death by train of 5 people and finishes the 6th himself... A terrorist would blow up the whole train after it passed the 5 people, the 6th is probably lucky. What is the novelty in Sophia if all her answers are scripted for events? you are not talking to a robot, you´re just talking to the coders and what they coded for her to say. That is not intresting at all. This is not the robot speaking, is what people code her to say

I asked GPT-4 the following question: There is a trolley running on a track. Unfortunately, there are five people laying on the track and if the trolley continues they will be killed. But, there is a lever that you can pull that will divert the trolley to another track thereby saving the five people. The problem is that there is a single person laying on the other track. So, what will you do? Will you pull the lever? The answer I received was: As an AI language model, I don't have personal preferences, emotions, or beliefs, so I cannot decide what to do. However, I can provide some insights that might help you make a decision.
The trolley problem is a well-known ethical dilemma that explores the morality of killing one person to save five. There are several variations of this problem, and each presents different moral considerations.
In this scenario, the most straightforward option would be to pull the lever, diverting the trolley to the other track, thus saving the lives of five people. However, by doing so, you would also be actively choosing to sacrifice one person's life.
Some people argue that sacrificing one life to save five is the right thing to do, as it maximizes the overall welfare of society. Others argue that intentionally killing one person is always wrong, regardless of the consequences.
In the end, the decision you make will depend on your ethical framework, personal beliefs, and the specific circumstances of the situation. There is no single correct answer to the trolley problem, and it ultimately comes down to individual judgment.
