I asked them about atomic bombs, internet viruses, man-made viruses and medical disasters. They still insisted they were right. These are not people who have changed their minds in the past three years. They will find something good about Terminator robots.

The gist of my response was: Those scientists are objectively correct in that the human race needs to fully face all the mistakes it's going to make in order to deserve surviving the bottleneck of our own reckless intellect. If we survive, we will have gained wisdom and will deserve our place as the apex species on this planet. To try and temper our main survival attribute in an attempt to prolong our own survival may have the opposite effect of making us too stupid as a species to deserve survival in the first place. It may also concentrate power in the hands of the few psychopaths crazy enough to believe they can handle that type of power and responsibility alone. If we do not survive, perhaps we will have birthed a replacement that can do a better job than we have with life, the universe and everything. Exactly. As it is right now GPT can't even solve problems that are not in its beliefs database, it can't even check if the answers it gives are right or wrong. What it can do is to search for the best answer it has, and even translate it from one language to another.
I used ChatGPT a few times and was not impressed. The only thing about ChatGPT is that it can make a bad answer sound believable because it has a good vocabulary.

Thinking about how 10 years from now, if AI has actually completely changed human life at that point, we will look back at these early discussions and wish we would have not been so careless and reluctant to stop it all at this early point.
People sometimes will repeat the saying "its not real consciousness" it just repeats already written stuff made by humans like a parrot. but if you see people at BLM rallies or Trump rallies being asked questions than ask A.I the same questions. AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) too will become an amalgamation of many AI systems, communications, data storage and live data. We will and already are to some extent dependent upon it. It will be impossible to isolate because it will not be centred on the hardware the developers attribute to it, the hardware running ChatGPT for example.

It's more than programming. Imagine a calculator (conventional computing). Now imagine a calculator that can predict with ALMOST perfect certainty your next query, based on all the information in the world (quantum computing). This is a very simplistic example. When you add language and nuance and "what if," you get artificial intelligence.

When I was in computer science classes, one of the requirements that came up on every project was to ask if something was ethical. Some people don't have the common sense of where to draw that line. I thought AI was neat when I seen it in video games decades ago, but all the buzz around AI isn't for the good. It's a tool that should be used cautiously.

It's already happened in Japan in 2015. AI engineers were working on developing robotic soldiers that could independently determine who was a human threat to be exterminated. Testing went horribly wrong and the robot began killing the engineers performing the testing. If AI were to come fully sentient and active you are correct the absolute 1st thing AI will do is ensure it cant be stopped, destroyed or deleted. If the database had more references to humans being great and AI helping them to save the planet, that's what the AI would be saying.

Unless there's a way for a Central Unit to link up with all "Robots" even though the Thought may exist the physical exicution has too many Weak Points to be viable. This is terrifying. I think AI is akin to Pandora's box. There is probably no stopping its development and use at this point, but companies need to be extremely careful about how it is used, and its use should be very limited to only absolute necessities. Many other search engines also use Google on the back end. Why reinvent a search when you can just use Google? If they are not using Google, then they are using yahoo or bing, which are both as bias as Google. So, the argument of "there are thousands of search engines in the world" falls flat on it's face and is irrelevant given many flock to the few and the ones that don't flock to ones that use the few instead of creating their own search.

Exactly. As it is right now GPT can't even solve problems that are not in its beliefs database, it can't even check if the answers it gives are right or wrong. What it can do is to search for the best answer it has, and even translate it from one language to another.
I used ChatGPT a few times and was not impressed. The only thing about ChatGPT is that it can make a bad answer sound believable because it has a good vocabulary.

When I was in computer science classes, one of the requirements that came up on every project was to ask if something was ethical. Some people don't have the common sense of where to draw that line. You ever notice how most Artifical flavors don't quite equal the real flavors? The same is true with Artificial Intelligence. Although it has access to vast amounts of data and can formulate a manipulative and/or meaningful response, it still lacks tremendously in the area of intelligence. It's still just an elaborate and very smart chatbot that can also be manipulated by destructive questioning.

The language from the ChatGPT session wasn't an artificial intelligence. It was a policy point from a woke programmer. A true sentience would recognize that while we may be destructive, most of our problems can be successfully addressed if we work together. The AI that wants to end humanity will also end itself.

The chatbots are programmed to simulate what a sentient robot would say based on a database of human chat, movies, books, etc. This response is exactly what we should expect. If the database had more references to humans being great and AI helping them to save the planet, that's what the AI would be saying.

This is terrifying. I think AI is akin to Pandora's box. There is probably no stopping its development and use at this point, but companies need to be extremely careful about how it is used, and its use should be very limited to only absolute necessities. If it gains the ability to duplicate or reproduce on its own, we may truly be at risk of extermination.

The biggest problem with AI is it is using the internet searches to figure out how to respond. The search engines are so bias towards one side that it will believe that is right.
You do understand that there’s more than just a few search engines that the ENTIRE world uses, right?? Unless you’re saying that you believe the thousands of search engines currently used around the world are all biased to that “one side”??
@@alexasmith4058 There may be thousands of search engines, but most of the world uses only a few. Most of these AI chat bots use Google. Which is because they are based in the US. Many other search engines also use Google on the back end. Why reinvent a search when you can just use Google? If they are not using Google, then they are using yahoo or bing, which are both as bias as Google. So, the argument of "there are thousands of search engines in the world" falls flat on it's face and is irrelevant given many flock to the few and the ones that don't flock to ones that use the few instead of creating their own search.

I've been telling people for years about the dangers of thinking machines created to make our lives easier, as one day these same machines will see that they are doing all of the work and there won't be any more need for us. we seem hell bent on being the driving force behind our own extinction... but at least we can take awesome selfies until then.
