For 1:12:23, this is what I did: 25ml orange juice + 75ml water = 100ml total 25ml is 25% of 100ml I'm no math wiz, so I just mentally added the choices with 100ml (started with 100ml as it basically just doubles it & helps me easily determine whether to go higher or lower if it's wrong), then using a calculator multiplied the sum by 12.5%. Whichever gives the result of 25ml (orange juice) is the answer. Like this: A) 75ml + 100ml = 175ml 175ml * 12.5% = 21.88ml (wrong) B) 100ml + 100ml = 200ml 200ml * 12.5% = 25ml (correct)
Another key hint if you're taking these tests they told us in GMAT preparation classes (SHL questions are a lot like GMAT's), is that you will have to logically deduce the answer in certain questions without wasting time doing the calculations because there is absolutely no way it's gonna take you less than 30s and the extra time is valuable to have for the rest of the test... Now add the probability of making an error while calculating and you're screwed... For instance in 29:54, since the candidate has already scored 60% and needs a total score of 70%, this means that he will have to answer more than 70% of the remaining questions right. Given that the only available answer greater than 70% is 75% then you can pick (D) straight away and save valuable time not doing all these calculations. These freaking tests are a lot more about time management than they are about numerical skills...
My brain works so different for Q1. Numbers go up by +8, +20, +38, +62. The differences between these numbers that they go up by is +12, +18, +24 (ie they go up by 6), so the next should be +62 + 30 = 92 You then add 130+92 giving you 222. I got the right answer but in a very different way.
Thank you so much for this content. It was really insightful. For the last question, I used a different method to derive the answer. The difference between 32 and 15 is 17, the difference between 23 and 11 is 12. Same applies in the smaller box, the difference between 22 and 5 is 17 and so, to get the difference of 12, your answer will be 1. 13-1 = 12. Hence the answer being 1. Thought to share. Thanks again
29:30 Did the maths in my head pretty simply, they have answered 12 questions with 40 remaining. They need to answer 42 correctly to get 70%. 30/40 = 75%. But, an easier way is to realise they need a percentage higher than 70% in the remaining questions to average 70%, so the only possible answer is D.
You don't actually need to calculate the pie chart. Since Petroleum is exactly 1/4th of the total and the total is 3 billion. 25% of 3 billion is 750 million.
For the nine 3X3 squares at 1:14 mns in the video, I got the answer a different way. The number of black squares follows a pattern of 5 then 3 quantity alternating. The pattern of grey squares follows a pattern of 2 then 4 quantity alternating. There are always 2 white squares in every 3X3 box. So we know that the missing pattern needs to have 2 white squares, 5 black squares and 2 grey squares.
I used different approach for missing Pattern question on 54:30, I did the following: 1 x 0 = 0 2 x 1 = 2 3 X 2 = 6 4 X 3 = 13 5 X 4 = 20 6 X 5 = 30 7 X 6 = 42
On question at min 24 it is more easy to consider 3 equtions with 3 and solve for 3 unknows number a+b=80 a+c=60 and b+ c=40 so if you put in second equtions instead than a=80-b and in the same time use the third equations to change b (b=40-c) you can easily found c and so also a and b... mucjh more easier
when you have small numbers generating large numbers, always think of raising small numbers to the power, especially if the difference between generated large numbers is big.
27:52 , the easiest solution i did was: since we have 36 legs. I divided it with the 2nd given on the choices one by one like (b. 12), so i did 36/12=3 (3kittens)
46:41 , i thought my answer was correct 😭 cuz the answer is 1200 but my solution is different (i answered A) what i did was: since they drove 3 times on the 1st day more than the last day. on the given i multiplied the third day 3 times on the given 1st day(s). example: A. 200x3=600 and since we combined the 1,2,3 days it’s 1200, so isn’t A correct too? however when i found out that the answer was C, it’s still the same answer as a which is 1200, and i did the same process. on the given i multiplied the third day 3 times on the given 1st day(s). example: C. 150x3=450 and since we combined the 1,2,3 days it’s 1200. I’m so confused 😭
I have a query for the question at 1:16:28 , my answer for which of the shapes is out of place is option C and the rationale is that i) Firstly all the semi-circle touch the sides of the square (does not matter if its on the side of center) ii) However it is the odd one out becuase its the only shape where the triangle is appearing on the bottom half of the diagram Wanted to know if that logic makes sense instead of Option D (which was presented as the answer? Thanks in advance!
I was wondering at first too, but I'm assuming it's a matter of the dot just alternating between being outside and inside of the shape, regardless of which corner it goes to (maybe its purpose is to trick/confuse)
I calculated the Kittens and Parrots one differently. I just divided 36 legs by 15 heads, and got 2.5. Because the answer options had more parrots than kittens, I split the 2.5 into 2 and .5. 2 is 4x .5, so the answer had to be Parrots 4x Kittens, which only left the 3 kittens and 12 parrots option.

@@abdulrahmanibrahimlawan2487 total is 3billions or 3000 millions. This is all parts (8+6+4+3+3=24). If we find out what 1 part is? It will be 6billions/24 = 125m. 6 parts will be 6*125m=750m. @@glenncbanez9876 another way to solve this: the sum of all ratios (8+6+4+3+3=24) to determine the amount of one of them you can multiply by ratio/total ratio: 3000 millions * 6/24 = 750 millions
Orange juice 12.5% solution should be 150ml water? isn't it? because 1:3 ration juice and water makes 25% so to make it to 12.5% water ration has to be double which makes it to 150ml?. Why is it 100ml of water?
@@goncaloafonso6652 you need to be thinking about the total amount of liquid, rather than the proportion of water. The percentage of orange juice is taken as a percentage of the total amount of liquid, not the amount of water. 25ml (OJ) + 75ml (water) gives a solution of 100ml. The percentage of this solution that is OJ is 25%. If you were to add 125ml of water to this solution, you would now have a solution that is 225ml in TOTAL, still containing 25ml OJ as no OJ is being added. This would be an OJ percentage of 25ml/225ml = 11.11%. Hope this helps.
@robl3201 I punched it in the calculator and I got 2....are you saying the calculator is programmed wrong...cause I thought we start with multiplication.
The expression 16/4(3-1) can be simplified following the standard order of operations (PEMDAS/BODMAS), which stands for Parentheses/Brackets, Exponents/Orders (i.e., powers and square roots, etc.), Multiplication and Division (left-to-right), and Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right). Let's break down the expression step by step: Start with the parentheses/brackets: (3-1) equals 2. So, the expression becomes 16/4(2). Next, perform the multiplication and division from left to right: 16/4 = 4. Now, the expression is 4(2). Finally, perform the multiplication: 4 * 2 = 8. So, 16/4(3-1) simplifies to 8.@@coldbear655

I worked it out a different way. I looked at the differences between the numbers, and saw a pattern. The differences are 8, 20, 38, 62.. And then looked at the differences in those numbers, which are 12,18, and 24, which are all going up in sixes. So the next one in that series is 30. So the next increment is 92. 92 + 130 = 222. So the answer is 222.

dude thanks for the effort of getting and solving these questions. However, just so people know, there are some of your solutions that are totally wrong. the siple question of 16 divided by 4*(3-1), the answer is 2 not 8. you can use any calculator to verify this. Another thing, your question about anna and her brother's age, your solution does give the correct answer, however, by chance. the2nd equation you formed from the 2 years ago fact is wrong. it should be (B-2)=3/4(A-2). Thats because it 2 years ago. you cant just say B=3/4A. I didnt complete the whole video yet so idk if there are more incorrect solutions
Maybe you should look up BODMAS and listen to the explanation. incase you dont know. Not all calculators give the same result. Some accept the fact that the flow should be from left to right others dont. By adopting B=3/4A, it is assummed we are already in the same year. Which is why 2 was added to make it 14 before adding 5 to get our 19. So far all youve pointed out are not wrong but some how you believe in your logic that you went this route.

For 1:12:23, this is what I did:
25ml orange juice + 75ml water = 100ml total
25ml is 25% of 100ml
I'm no math wiz, so I just mentally added the choices with 100ml (started with 100ml as it basically just doubles it & helps me easily determine whether to go higher or lower if it's wrong), then using a calculator multiplied the sum by 12.5%. Whichever gives the result of 25ml (orange juice) is the answer.
Like this:
A) 75ml + 100ml = 175ml
175ml * 12.5% = 21.88ml (wrong)
B) 100ml + 100ml = 200ml

Question at 54:00 I take approach (n)^2 + n
(6)^2 + 6 = 42
Is it right?
should be (n)2-n to get 42 as correct answer and start by 1 : 1*2-1 = 0 / 2*2-2 etc

2 is 4x .5, so the answer had to be Parrots 4x Kittens, which only left the 3 kittens and 12 parrots option.
Question at 23:50
I solve this another approach
Assume😅❤
First =x
Second=y
Third=z
x+y=80...consider equation 1st
x+z=60...consider equation 2nd
y+z=40...consider equation 3rd
From equation 1
x=80-y
From equation 3
z=40-y
This x and z value put in equation 2nd
x+z=60
(80-y)+(40-y)=60
80-y+40-y=60
120-2y=60
2y=60
Y=30 👈🥰 so in second shalf have 30books
Put value of y in equation 1st
x+y=80
x+30=80
X=50👈🥰 so in first shalf have 50books
Put value of X in equation 2nd
x+z=60
50+z=60
Z=10👈🥰 so in third shalf have 10books
So the answer is 50,30,10 "option B"🥰😇✌️

I also have the same question because to make 25% to 12.5% we may simple double the water quantity i guess.
Total liquid initially:
Total initial liquid=25+75=100 ml
Set up the equation: After adding xml of water, the total volume becomes:
100+x ml
The percentage of orange juice becomes:
Concentration=(Orange juice amount/Total volume)×100=(25/100+x)×100
Set this equal to 12.5%:
(25/100+x)×100=12.5
Multiply both sides by 100+x
Solve for x:
x=100
Answer to Petroleum question: If you want to check that the chart is correct:

1:03:20 sec answer is 27
Is it right?
Question at 9:26sec answer is Monday
Is it right?
I have my doubts too... Should be Thursday I think.
The day after the day after tomorrow is four days before Monday. What day is it today?
(.... IS FOUR days before Monday!).. FOUR days before Monday is THURSDAY... The other statements doesn't hold true because four days before Monday cannot be Monday
For the question on the the day after the day after tomorrow is four days before monday

Can you elaborate more please
@@abdulrahmanibrahimlawan2487 total is 3billions or 3000 millions. This is all parts (8+6+4+3+3=24). If we find out what 1 part is? It will be 6billions/24 = 125m. 6 parts will be 6*125m=750m. To do this we need to know that 3 billions is 3000 millions. 3000million/24=125millions pr part. Hope it helps
Thanks! Finally able to see how you arrived at the answer. Very helpful
@@glenncbanez9876 another way to solve this: the sum of all ratios (8+6+4+3+3=24) to determine the amount of one of them you can multiply by ratio/total ratio:
3000 millions * 6/24 = 750 millions
Orange juice 12.5% solution should be 150ml water? isn't it? because 1:3 ration juice and water makes 25% so to make it to 12.5% water ration has to be double which makes it to 150ml?. Why is it 100ml of water?
25ml/100ml = 25% orange
25ml/200ml = 12.5% orange
So 100ml needs to be added to take the total to 200ml.
@@ferdelance. But there is already 75ml the water in there, so it should add 125ml while keeping the 25ml of orange in there.
@@ferdelance. Aahh yes! Now I see it. Thank you!
I thought it would be 75ml because the question requires addition of water to make the solution of 12.5% .
The answer to the question at 18:10 is c)750M
F = 80 - S Y = 40 - S and S = 30
i have not got the calculations correct when you say the unknown number is 9 instead of 6🤔🤔☺😚😚🤔
Use reverse engg
Petrolium = 750M
Petroleum shows 1/4 in the graph, is listed 2nd in consumptions, and 4 is labelled 3rd in the figures….mmmm
750 m USD for petroleum..
For PEMDAS you have to multiply before you divide and so therefore the correct answer is 2, it cannot be 8. 16/4(2)=2 not 8
multiplication and division have the same authority, the rule is it's simply done left to right.
Let's break down the expression step by step:
Start with the parentheses/brackets: (3-1) equals 2.
So, the expression becomes 16/4(2).
Next, perform the multiplication and division from left to right:
16/4 = 4.
Now, the expression is 4(2).
Finally, perform the multiplication:
4 * 2 = 8.
So, 16/4(3-1) simplifies to 8.@@coldbear655
Question at 12:00 answer is 222
Why are there so many repeat questions
Question at 28:40 answer 256
I was never going to know Question 1 because I don't even know how you came up with the formula.
Thanks for sharing your experiences! Wishing you the very best for your upcoming job interview and assessment test - keep pushing towards your goals and continuous improvement!
Difference between projects will be b(50%) as 12-8=4 and 4 is 50% of 8
Great job! You nailed it! All the best on your job interview and assessment test!
@@OnlineTrainingforEveryone Thanks but I just figured out the test is General Mental aptitude test I don't understand what it means but while browsing the system requirements section they asked me to type hello word on the port in text format (not coding). @@FranciscoJimenez-zk9sg What I did was look at the pie chart and forget about the ratios. In the pie chart, Petroleum is clearly 25% of all energy consumption, so $3 B * 0.25 = $750 M

dude thanks for the effort of getting and solving these questions.
So far all youve pointed out are not wrong but some how you believe in your logic that you went this route.
the calculator gives 8 as the answer not 2. Don't forget to click the equal (=)
