  • This is a showcase of the Playable Character Pack, a mod available for the PC version of the game using the Memoria engine.
    Memoria's latest release: github.com/Alb...
    Download and run Memoria.Patcher.exe, then run the game: the launcher window has a button "Install Mods". Install and activate the Playable Character Pack mod from there.
    Since I recorded that video, I have changed the abilities and weapons they can use. Now they have their own skillsets briefly described below.
    About Lani
    - Lani's weapon is her Battle Axe that can be synthesized from a Mage Staff and an Iron Sword. She can then upgrade it through the game with different jewels.
    - She can use Green Magic. The green spells are elemental spells. On top of basic Black Magics, there are Aero, Aera, Aeraga, Earthquake, Waterga and Rainbow Wind, a powerful multi-elemental spell.
    - She can also use a command Hunt to focus a single enemy: after choosing the target to hunt, her next physical attack will inflict Trouble. Her subsequent physical attacks to the same target will be increasingly powerful.
    - In trance, her Hunt ability also makes her cast a Green Magic that she knows after each attack.
    About Kuja
    - Kuja can use Black Mage staves. He also has access to the ominous Staff of the Magi, that can only be crafter by Hades himself, made with a Hamelin and a Jade Armlet.
    - He can summon various offensive eidolons that he longed to steal from Garnet and Eiko.
    - He can use Sorcery, a selection of 8 powerful spells, amongst which are Comet, Flare and Flare Star.
    - In trance, his Sorcery spells further improve, becoming even stronger versions of themselves: Comet becomes Meteor, Flare becomes Flare Star, and Flare Star becomes...
    About Fratley
    - Fratley uses Spears just like Freya. He can also manipulate his long Iron Spear, that can be crafted in good synthesis shops in disc 2 and afterwards, from an Oak Staff and an Iron Helm. It gives him access to a very special supporting ability...
    - Just like Freya, he has access to the Dragon-knight abilities.
    - From his journey, he learned not only how to slain dragons but also how to fight like one. Use his Rampage command to let him turn into one of the dragons that live on Hera and Terra. The more powerful his spear is, the more fearsome the dragon will be.
    - In trance, his transformation grants him bonus HP, MP and stats depending on his level and the dragon he turns into, allowing him to have much more vitality than anyone. His transformation also never negates until the end of the battle, should he fall with that form.

    Absolutely fantastic. It makes me so emotional to see people still actively pouring so much care and love into these games. The mod is amazing! I'm going to dedicate an entire run with this new party. Hopefully we can see more characters in the future, maybe the black waltzes?

    Looking at character animations you can really tell the decision for Lani to NOT join the party was made very late in development. Her fluid animation is on par with Vivi while Fratley & Kuja will stagger or freeze during certain movements.

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre

      They have a distinct character slot so they don't replace any existing character.
      However, their sets of abilities are a mix of other abilities from other characters. It could be done to create new abilities specifically for them but it would come with problems considering that the total number of abilities is limited.

    Wow, ça fait 15 personnages, c'est énorme ! Je ne savais pas que c'était possible de carrément intégrer des nouveaux personnages comme ça. Bon par contre, il semble y avoir des limitations d'espaces (est-ce à cause d'une limite memoire?) ce qui fait que certains personnages partagent des compétences/animations similaires.
    Par contre, j'espérais que Kuja ait le sort Méga Atomnium à sa disposition (mais il partage la magie de Bibi), peut-être est-il disponible dans la transe mais même en état normal, il est censé pouvoir le lancer (il peut le lancer sur Terra si le groupe utilise des boomerangs).
    En tout cas, respect pour ton travail global (j'apprécie vraiment Hades Workshop, un outil formidable).

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre
      @LeLuiOuUnAutre  Год назад +2

      Merci :)
      J'espère pouvoir retirer la limite de compétences pour permettre d'avoir des sorts différents pour ces personnages. Par contre, pour les animations, c'est juste que je ne suis pas un graphiste animateur et que j'ai récupéré les animations d'autres personnages pour combler celles qui manquaient.

    • @siderth9035
      @siderth9035 Год назад +2

      @@LeLuiOuUnAutre Oui il existe cette même limite sur HW, c'est bien dommage d'ailleurs.
      A propos de l'animation, on voit Kuja tenir un bâton mais c'est parce que tu ne pouvais pas faire autrement (il doit avoir les animations de Bibi)? J'imagine que ça doit être compliqué avec les animations de base de Kuja qui certes existent mais sont peut-être incomplètes (manque de pose en cas de victoire, animation K.O) sans compter le script (ça doit être un beau bordel).
      Aussi je ne m'attendais pas à voir Fratley, il est vrai qu'il aurait pu rejoindre le groupe pour aider 😆

    Cannot *WAIT* to have Lani as a party member after she becomes available as a party member after defeating her in Fossil Roo and so forth... ^-^ I just hope that this mod works with AF is all. If so then Beatrix and Lani are going to replace Freya and Sophia (whom I rename "Garnet" as, "Dagger" just sounds so freakin' pathetic imho -_-) quite effectively if Lani can keep up with my other two party members, of which i'm sure she will. ^^
    Is Lani recruitable after rescuing Eiko from her? Just wanted to make sure is all. :3

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre
      @LeLuiOuUnAutre  Год назад

      This mod doesn't work like that: you never recruit any of those characters, they only are accessible when choosing party members.
      You can press the keys Alt+F2 in game to access the party menu at any time. If you don't do that, you'll be able to use Lani and the others the first time you can choose your party members, which incidentally is after rescuing Eiko from Lani.

    • @backup_rookie3913
      @backup_rookie3913 Год назад +1

      Ah, I see. Had no idea about that. Guess i'll wait until after rescuing Eiko from Lani since it'd be a bit weird to have Lani fight herself during her fight in Fossil Roo after all. ^^;
      Like I said before though, just REALLY HOPE that the mod is compatible with the current version of AF, having access to both Lani and Beatrix as actual party members will be making a longtime dream of mine come true after all. ^-^

      My only other question is that it seems to prevent the "Mog Add-ons" from activating the PSX (PS1) portaits part from working for some strange reason, my guess is that it's probably this mod, but ah well. As long as Lani is available as a party member after rescuing Eiko from her then that's fine to me.
      EDIT: *IT'S WORKING!!* *

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre
      @LeLuiOuUnAutre  Год назад

      @@backup_rookie3913 If by "is it the same Beatrix from the AF mod?", you ask whether the progression you do with her before permanently recruiting her in disc 3 would be kept after the recruitment or be lost, then the answer is that it will be kept.
      I'm not sure about her level if you level her up before losing to her for the 3rd time in Alexandria; that might get lost.
      Her equipment also gets changed at that point and when you regain control during the Bahamut attack: at these points, you'll lose whatever she have equipped and you'll gain her new equipment preset.
      Both of these questions are not related to AF though (and the Playable Character Pack has little to do with that as well: it's more about Memoria's "AllCharactersAvailable" option).

      I did that, yes. I didn't add new characters since the release of this mod because that's quite some work, but I did added movesets for them:
      *Lani*
      - Lani's weapon is her Battle Axe that can be synthesized from a Mage Staff and an Iron Sword. She can then upgrade it through the game with different jewels.

    Wow, looks great! Any estimate on when this will be ready for public release? No hurry though, take your time to polish it up as much as you need.
    I have a few questions about this, if you don't mind my asking.
    1. Will these characters be available individually, or only as a pack together? Like for example, if I wanted just Lani without the other two, or just Kuja, would that be possible?
    2. I noticed Blank, Marcus, Cinna, and Beatrix in the party change menu. Are they part of this mod, or do they come from a different mod?
    3. Will they be able to learn abilities from equipment like the normal characters, or will they just have their full skillsets available by default?
    4. What sort of equipment will they be able to use?
    5. Will we be able to determine what kinds of abilities these characters will be able to use? Fratley using Flair and Dragon abilities seems fitting enough, but Lani having White Magic and Sword Magic seems like an odd choice. I would think Black Magic (since she uses Black Magic when you fight her) and either Steal or Flair would be a better fit. Not criticising you or anything, just saying I think Lani's skillset in this video seemed a bit unusual to me.
    6. How will these characters become available to use in the game? Will they just be there to stick in your party as soon as the player gets to the part of the game where you can freely change party members, or will you have to do something special to "unlock" them?
    7. Do these characters have any additional story or dialogue attached to them? It's fine if not, I'm just asking. I have no problem if they're just extra characters you can use with no explanation or story involvement (Kuja in particular would be hard to explain without huge plot rewrites).
    Thank you for taking the time to read this, and also thank you for making this mod. I'm looking forward to it!

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre
      @LeLuiOuUnAutre  Год назад +2

      Thanks.
      Unless a new problem arises, it's a matter of a few days at most.
      1. You can pick Lani without picking Kuja or Fratley in the team but they'll still exist in the party menu. It *could* be modified by changing the mod files a bit but I don't see the point (maybe that's because the answer to 7. is "no" and you thought it would be "yes")
      2. The Memoria Engine already give the possibility to use Blank, Cinna, Marcus or Beatrix at any point of the game, but until now the formers shared character slots with Amarant, Quina and Eiko and they couldn't be picked simultaneously. The upcoming update of Memoria will make that possible and that's something not directly related to the character pack mod.
      3. Yes, they must learn all their abilities (and they can use supporting abilities), like the other characters.
      4. Basically, they can equip all the "weapons" required for them to learn their abilities (Kuja can equip Vivi's staffs to learn Black Magics, Fratley can equip both spears and claws...) although Lani and Fratley have their natural weapon always there (you can see that Fratley's spear is a mixture of Kain's Lance + his usual spear, and Lani has the Defender equiped even if it can hardly be seen). The other gear parts are the common gears, for all the 3 characters (no knight armor), with Lani being able to equip woman-only ones.
      5. Modifying the abilities they use can be done by modifying the mod files, which is not the easiest thing to do but it's still manageable (it's mainly a matter of changing the numerical identifiers of the commands they can use, so at worst it can be done with trials and errors by trying different numbers and see to which commands they correspond). However, it can be that their animations will be weird with some commands (for example Lani doesn't have a "stealing" animation).
      I decided to give Lani White Magic instead of Black Magic because that would have been redundant with Kuja (and Lani uses Scan when fighting her... which isn't part of the skillset I chose because Eiko's magics are overall more useful and they can easily be used for a Double White trance command).
      6. At any time of the game, press Alt+F2 to access the party menu.
      When the option "AllCharactersAvailable" is enabled, all the characters (including these 3 with the mod) will be accessible.
      Both of these options are part of the Memoria mod, not the character pack mod itself to be precise.
      7. No.
      I did that for including Beatrix in the party in my other mod Alternate Fantasy, but that's a big work, as you say it requires changing the story to some extent (although I could make Beatrix completly optional so no story change is forced in Alternate Fantasy; it could not be like that for Kuja).
      That's not exactly the point of the character pack mod anyways: if I update it in the future, that will be for adding other characters or improve the animations of these 3 but not adding anything related to the story nor conditions to unlock them.

      @@LeLuiOuUnAutre Thanks for answering! I wasn't expecting the answer to number 7 to be yes (I wasn't initially aware you were the same person who made that Beatrix mod, actually), I mainly asked out of curiosity. That's totally fine with me though, I'm not really super into mods that alter the story anyway. And just seeing completely brand new playable characters implemented is impressive enough.
      Do you need any special tool or program or anything to modify what abilities characters are capable of learning or what equipment they can use, or can that be adjusted in plain text with Microsoft Word or some such?
      Anyway, thank you very much for answering my questions! I'm very much looking forward to this mod. And if I may make one small suggestion, I think Kuja's menu picture should be his 3D render from Dissidia NT, to fit in a bit better with the normal characters' menu pictures. Just a tiny suggestion, you don't have to follow it if you don't want to or if you're too far along to change it now. It ultimately doesn't matter since it's just a visual thing that doesn't affect gameplay.
      Thanks again, and I hope you have a great day!

      @@MegaMario9001 They are indeed plain texts files. The Notepad (or better yet, Notepad++) is more suited than Microsoft Word because that one is text + formatting instead of plain text (like bold, centering etc... all the kind of stuff you can do with Microsoft Word).
      So the mod is now available and you can give it a try. In order to modify the characters' commands, open the file "PlayableCharacterPack\StreamingAssets\Data\Characters\CommandSets.csv" with a Notepad. It has 3 lines, one for Kuja, one for Fratley and one for Lani. Each line consists of (1) an ID that you shouldn't touch, (2) the ID of the 1st command, (3) the ID of the 2nd command, (4) the ID of the 1st command when in trance and (5) the ID of the 2nd command when in trance. The rest of the line is a comment. Just change the numbers there to something else.
      The list of commands and their related ID can be found here to help you:
      github.com/Albeoris/Memoria/blob/main/Assembly-CSharp/Memoria/Data/Battle/BattleCommandId.cs
      Also, the 3 files in the "Abilities" folder next contain the list of abilities that characters can learn (which is somehow different from the abilities that are available for them in battles, through their commands). In those files, the 1st number of each line is the ability ID and the 2nd number is the amount of AP required to learn it.
      The list of active abilities and their related ID can be found here:
      github.com/Albeoris/Memoria/blob/main/Assembly-CSharp/Memoria/Data/Battle/BattleAbilityId.cs
      If you only change the commands, that's fine: it's just that the abilities that are in commands but don't have any AP requirement will be usable right of the bat.
      I considered your suggestion of using a screenshot of Kuja's Dissidia NT model, but eventually I found his concept art's portrait more fitting. I think the facial traits are different anyways, but his eyes and his hair fit more in the game with his concept art instead of his Dissidia model.
      You can check these for comparison:

      There's another method that I use for a custom Blue Magic, Shapeshift, that allows to play as an enemy more easily, but it's more restricted (eg. it's still Quina outside of battles and before s/he shapeshifts). In my other mod, Quina has the ability to change into various enemies like that (Anemone, Ogre, Wraiths, Deathguise...).

      *About Fratley*

    Salut,
    il faut télécharger "Memoria Patcher" et "Source Code"? (version 23 juin 2023 du coup la)
    Si oui, après il faut mettre sa ou? car peut importe ou je met (dossier du jeux ou téléchargement) , j'ai une erreur en lançant le Patcher... "System.UnauthorizedAccessException: L'accès au chemin d'accès 'C:\Games\FINAL FANTASY IX\StreamingAssets\Assets\Resources\Sounds\Sounds02\SE02' est refusé."
    Si t'arrive a m'aider sa serait super ! depuis la sortie sur PS1 j'ai toujours révé de jouer avec Kuja .
    Merci 😉

      "Source Code" n'est pas utile, c'est un fichier qui permet de modifier le mod mais il n'y en a pas besoin pour l'utiliser.
      Selon ton erreur, le Patcher n'arrive pas à créer certains fichiers (en l'occurrence, le son de l'altération "Boomerang" qui bug dans le jeu de base et qui est donc corrigé par Memoria), à priori à cause d'un problème de droits. J'imagine que tu pourrais bidouiller les droits d'accès lecture / écriture du dossier du jeu, mais le plus simple est de faire un clic-droit sur le Patcher et utiliser "Exécuter en tant qu'administrateur".
      Après que le Patcher ait installé (ou mis-à-jour) Memoria, il devrait y avoir un bouton "Mods" en haut à droite de la fenêtre quand tu lances le jeu. Les mods (dont celui-ci) se téléchargent et s'installent facilement depuis ce menu.

    so i'm using alternate fantasy mod, with hd stuff, small battle menu, sounds, etc....can i just add those extra characters? without memoria, because i'm not using that?

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre
      @LeLuiOuUnAutre  Год назад +1

      I think that you use Memoria.
      Alternate Fantasy, the Moguri mod, the Scaled Battle UI.... they all rely on Memoria and they need Memoria.
      However, it might be that you don't use a Memoria Launcher that includes Memoria's Mod Manager. The Mod Manager is normally accessible from the button as in the screenshot seen here:
      github.com/Albeoris/Memoria/wiki/Mod-Manager
      If you don't have that button and don't want to update the launcher, then you can download the mod using its direct link and install it by editing your Memoria.ini just like the other mods.

    HI can you make a video How to use Hades Workshop and to accepted the mod to the Steam Version ?

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre
      @LeLuiOuUnAutre  Год назад +1

      Unfortunatly, making videos is not something I am very comfortable with, so it always take more time than it should. Making tutorial videos would take me a lot of time.
      There is some documentation about how to use Hades Workshop, on the Qhimm forum page about the tool, but it's a written documentation.
      If people do that kind of tutorial videos, that would be awesome though.

    So Kuja uses Vivi's equipment, Fratley uses Freya but what does Lani use.

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre
      @LeLuiOuUnAutre  Год назад +1

      In this video, Kuja could use Vivi's staves but also Garnet's rods, Fratley could use Freya's spears but also Amarant's claws.
      And Lani could use Steiner's swords and Vivi's staves.
      I have updated the mod since then to give them exclusive abilities. So now Kuja can still use Vivi's staves but also a Staff of the Magi that only he can equip. Fratley can use Freya's spears but also his long Iron Spear. And Lani can use a variety of axes specifically for her, based on her Battle Axe.

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre

      They start at level 1.
      I felt it was better to show them in this video in the final dungeon and not during the game's early story events. Thus, I used the "Level Max" cheat for them to not have a ridiculous amount of HP/MP for the fight.

      I have no idea, sorry. I don't own this console so there's no way I would make mods for it. I know however that the different remaster versions of the game are really similarly coded, so it might be possible to port these mods to the Switch version of the game without too much work.

    • @LeLuiOuUnAutre

      There's never a moment when you meet them and they would say "I join you" or something like that. The mod doesn't add or change any cutscenes.
      It's just that they appear when choosing your party members in the party menu. That menu can be opened at almost any time with the keys "Alt + F2".
