Hi, thanks for making a video on our project! I noticed you're playing with the old textures, if you had Moguri installed, you need to disable it in the mod manager or they will override the new mod :)
Thank you so much for this mod! i'm so excited to relive my childhood! I'm getting a little bit of frame skips during cinematics and battle scenes, and sometimes everywhere else but less often. do you know what might be the problem? i have resolution set to 1440p and 120fps. my monitor can handle up to 160fps. i have the moguri 9.0 mod installed and the 30fps video mod. battlespeed set to 1.2
@snouz I launched the game with the Memoria patch, set "model outlines" or "realistic" in the advanced settings, and I tried both with the Moguri mod active and inactive, but when I start the game it doesn't apply these advanced settings that give the outline to the characters. So I see the characters just like if there wasn't a patch, both in battle and outside. Do you know what could fix this or what am I doing wrong?
Gameplay visuals are basically at a point where I have to wonder whether an unreal engine remake would even come close to being this artistic and beautiful. At this point we just need new 60fps 4k cutscenes, voice acting, updated mini games and some general improvements that make the game feel less 90s cumbersome and slow. Moguri has single handedly taken care of everything else the remake needs to be.
Beautiful, anyone who has never played IX but loved Sea of Stars or Chained Echo’s will find a lot to love here! Just wish for a 2D HD remake for VI and I can die satisfied!
I noticed the backgrounds in your footage are the old (8.3) Moguri backgrounds. You may have not properly installed the new version? Or maybe you didn't delete the old version. I recommend starting from a fresh install of the game when going from Moguri 8.3 to 9.0.
I had ff9 on the playstaion and the psp but never completed the game once I think now is the right time to re visit the game with all these amazing mods
Gosh darn, this is so good! How I wish there are ways to improve experience like this with FFTactics. I just settled with playing Sword of Convallaria because of it hahaha
I downloaded the mod when it first came out and even then it was amazing essentially the remaster we should have got from square I considered it the best mod I've ever seen i didn't even know it will still being worked on square pay these ppl already they did what you couldn't
Looks nice and crispy. Im also reaplying FF9 atm. Currently at Alexander vs Bahamut. Cant wait for CD3 end because that stuff is just insane and legendary.
I tried playing FF9 ~6mo ago as it was such an iconic game in my childhood. I couldn't play it at all. The textures were muddy and the whole game blurry, I literally couldn't see what was going on (spoiled by modern games, aren't we?). I had no idea the Moguri Mod existed. I just downloaded FF9 with Moguri Mod 9 on my Steam Deck and it's such an incredible experience.
Is this easy to get running on Deck? I’m laid up from knee surgery and this would be a great way to half watch my kids and half do something for myself while I’m laying around getting better
At this rate this will be my REMAKE, I don't need SE to cock up my beloved FF9 with their current view of remakes. Salute to the modders and the Echo S voice actors!
I played this game when I was a Teenager and I loved it so much, I Want to replay it now that I'm 34 but I'm scared that some of the magic can be lost afeter so much time, or I will find less perfect than before, ruining my rememberance of the game. what should I do?
I'm 28, first played the game when I was 10, replayed it countless times and it's as magical as it was years ago. Had to resort to emulation since my cousin borrowed my system and somehow managed to lost it pre-pandemic (ikr). The steam version has never given me the same feel, but that's mostly a me problem
This update is going to be fantastic, I am getting ready to play. The ability (I know this has existed in previous versions) to change the crappy card game from IX into the much more fun VIII one has always made this mod stand out for me.
Don't really care for the card games!! However I'd be blown away if they added an FF9 version of Blitzball!! If they did or ever do I hope it's the same as FF10s blitzball and not FF10-2s!!
I just played through the game for my first time on switch and I kept hearing about this mod, I’ll def be using this for a remaster when I want to replay because the game is just magical, for anyone’s first time it’s truly artistic and amazing how they made this back in the ps1 and games today are so fucking ass
I'm playing on a crt tv and it looks amazing. But for some reason, even though it's at its native 640x480, there's still grey bars on top and bottom, regardless of it being native res for both the game and the tv. ANyone know why this is? In previous versions of Moguri I played on the same screen without bars.
Maybe tell people how to get to the base mod manager BEFORE the patcher? That'd be great. A link to the actual mod site would be fucking excellent. It's a pain in the ass to find that sight takes you only to the patcher which does nothing on its own without the manager.
I am currently looking into the other games in the series for other mods, I've only tried a randomizer for FF10, so I'd happily be pointed in the direction of others!
Guys I launched the game with the patch, set "model outlines" or "realistic" in the advanced settings, but when I start the game it doesn't apply these advanced settings. So I see the characters just like if there wasn't a patch, both in battle and outside. Some of you know what could fix this?
I wonder if they ever fixed the issue where the mod crashes your game right before the ending cutscenes play. Basically my only complaint with the mod.
Modders doing a better job them square employees... unbelievable! They released these ps1 games on switch looking the same as they were back them. I think a switch for exemple is very capable to run this mods of ps1 era final fantasy.
How about an AI voices mod? I know someone did a voice mod for FF7 classic. If I knew how to integrate the audio files to go with the voices lines I could pretty easily generate allllll the voices for all the dialog
I become crazy, no matter wich language i chose I have cut off text on almost every dialog and I don't find any solution to this ... want to play with that mod but seems impossible for me ...
I have to respectfully disagree about hoping the remake will be like this. Don't get me wrong, this looks great and I'm going to try this out but this is on the scale of a remaster with qol changes. I'm hoping to see more from a full remake similar to the upcoming romancing saga 2 remake in terms of graphical overhaul (not art style).
@@aznislanderpnoy she stays behind to deal with Alexandria after the Alexander vs Bahamut fight, she has no reason to come with us after disc 3. Her loyalty is to the kingdom and it's people. I like we get to play as her for a bit, but I would never want a permanent recruitment.
To me this is like putting a Monet through an ai filter because high gloss and crisp outline makes it look less like water colors which I think looks a lot better, I dumped mine so I play it on my phone and recently on one of the handhelds
As beautiful as Moguri Mod is, I refuse to support it's creator(s) for a few reasons. First, the creator has said that if he could charge money for the mod he would. Second, the creator is fiercely anti piracy and has blasted ppl over forums for requesting that the mod work with cracked copies of FF9. They are pro DRM and he/she has stated that platforms should reserve the right to remove your games that you paid for and recharge you each time you want to access them (which is a very likely future for digital gaming that the creator of Moguri Mod supports.) He/she claims that as a developer themselves, they know how much work goes into game development and that game companies deserve even more of consumers' money. Personally I think capitalistic greed has no place in art and I strongly disagree with the Moguri Mod team on this. The Moguri Mod creator went on a huge rant on several forums talking about how much they hated GOG (a DRM free digital marketplace for games). They accused GOG of supporting piracy. GOG does not infact support or endorse piracy. They support consumer ownership and game preservation. Piracy isn't always about stealing. Often ppl pirate games bc it's the only way to get them. Try getting a retail version of say Fable 3 on PC. Good luck. You'll have to pirate that game if you want it. Is it better for companies to delete games forever and have nobody play them or is it better to have ppl crack those games so ppl can play them 10, 20, 30 years later? The answer is obvious to me. As Governor Weatherby Swan said in Pirates of the Caribbean: "Sometimes the right course of action demands an act of piracy" In this case and cases like it, piracy is the morally right way to go. DRM is a product of corporate greed and I will never support a modder who supports DRM and anti consumer practices.
What do you mean bro, those graphics look like cheesy borderlands 1. I don't know where your eyes are looking but mine are looking at really thick outlines and it's not looking too nice. Have you forgotten about those programmers that got together to make a fan game? That's what it should look like.... Not this.
There are alternate options if you don't like the way I have them, there is a 'realistic' option, or you could just leave them as they are just with the upscaling, I just happen to like it this way :)
As a gamer of the ps1 era it blows my mind that it's now possible for this kind of thing to happen 😂
The first time I was playing Zelda Ocarina of TIme in my mobile my brain exploded
17 seconds into the video. I'M REPLAYING FF IX with this mod!!!
Same. I'm always looking for a reason to replay, though. lol

We really don't need the voice acting. It's much better without, when the game plays like a book.
No voice acting! no please no :(
Beautiful, anyone who has never played IX but loved Sea of Stars or Chained Echo’s will find a lot to love here! Just wish for a 2D HD remake for VI and I can die satisfied!

Thank you, I just bought FF9 again on steam and I can't wait to get on this mod ♥
Do it asap and enjoy ☺️🙏
Converting FMVs from 15 to 30fps by having AI add in midframes is such a genius move, exactly the kind of thing we should be using it for!
