I never get tired of watching this! They were so young and so alive. So ahead of their time and brilliant! (Can you imagine being there, witnessing this incredible phenomenon happen, and being a part of it!) Simple Minds is quite possibly the greatest band of the '80s. Who would have known they'd be here 40+ years later, and still knocking it out of the ballpark. I'm 62 years old, I missed out on so much, but I'm grateful these videos are here! 👍❤️

It's was a terrible time. Massive mistakes were made in the UK, the US and beyond and we're paying for it all now. Music was good in the first half though. Shit in the second half.

Mistakes? Second half a shit? You where here in 80s?! Just to say one: Michel Jackson released album Bad on 87 ... may you do not like it, but i can suggest you 3000 more different albums and authors from this time!

      "Shit in the second half."
      - I get the point. Stock, Aitken & Waterman started the era of shite manufactured pop. Just churn out generic track after generic track and veneer it with some young, good-looking eager singer to appeal to the masses.
For me, 1987 was an awesome year but it did mark the start of production-line music.

Wow... Sublime video performance by SM... 🔝🎶❤💯😇

Sparkle in the Rain was the album that turned the fortunes of the band into a major arena act. The magic touch of producer Steve Lillywhite pushed the band into far more edgier sounding territory and practically invented the “gated reverb” on Mel Gaynor’s drums. Derek Forbes played bass like there was no tomorrow until his fingers bled. Jim Kerr’s singing took a drastic turn from his soft vocals from New Gold Dream to completely belting it throughout this album. This opening track and third single Up on the Catwalk was the sign of its time and later sampled into their closing instrumental track Shake Off the Ghost. This is the band’s best album to date.

One of the most intensive track from Simple Minds.
The clip is pleasant with hidden messages I guess but I'll always remember ''one thousand names spring up my mind like Deodato, Michael Angelo, Robert De Niro so many others... Natassia Kinski and Martin Luther '' to say Robert De Niro and Natassia Kinski are celebrated by Simple Minds and it's a real pleasure !!
