Music video by Simple Minds performing Alive And Kicking (2003 Digital Remaster).
80's era was absolutely the BEST
Absolutely 💯
The 80's was so fa,sad it's now just memories
Born in 87. I feel such a connection with music like this. I'm actually in love with it. It's crazy that music is what it is today.
Yeah this is the song
It was the peak of music. 90s dropped a bit from there and has been tumbling since
Undoubtedly one of the best songs ever written.
They don't write them anymore like this, awesome song from great times,...a fellow gen x'er

If you enjoyed this music in the 80s, congratulations. If you are reading this, it means, that you are alive and kicking. Hope you live many more years because life is beautiful.
Of course I am, wouldn't have it any other way

Thank you.
I was a little French girl from the 80s, I was so lucky to grow up with this song and video ! I remember singing "I love you Kiking" in the school playground !!!!
Thank you for this wonderful song, for this magic, thank you to you, thank you to Robin Clark, thank you for the piano, the drums, the luminous love, what happiness !!! I'm always moved when I hear it...
Well said,brilliant times!
Yep it's European invasion back then I was MAYBE a bit older but as 1st Gen Scots American with Scot cousin now married in FRANCE I can't figure anything in world from Seattle just this song is always here when I need it most.
Best Simple Minds song ever.
Also, "Don't You Forget About Me"
That's a tough one just played album outside today New Gold Dream in sun outside Seattle. Big Sleep hits me hard every time. But for production probably right. Promised you a Miracle up there.
This song says it all. The 80's were the best days of my life.
Alive and kickin in 2024!
I feel privileged to have been a teen when this came out. Thank you Jesus.

This and “Sanctify yourself” are two of my favorites. “War Babies” off Neopolis is great too. I think I like em more than U2
Yes it was wonderful wasn't it!? The 80s will be possibly the best time this world has ever had.

Damn straight alive and kicking. Just got done having heart surgery about 4 hours ago! Forever alive and kicking!!!

I hope that your recovery has gone well for you.
All the best in Life to come!
Wow. I had heart surgery when I was a child! I had 3 holes in my heart. How cool!
Bands like "Simple Minds" were cutting edge in the 80's. Everything was changing to electronics and MTV. We look back now and realize just how special our decade was. It seems like a lifetime ago, but they were some of the best years of our lives.
What do you mean "changing from electronics to MTV"?
I meant to instead of from.
80s music is the best!! Sirius xm 80s on 8!!!
Exactly! I remember the first day MTV aired. I literally ran home from school just in time to see it air. Simple minds was and is a great band. I remember seeing The breakfast club for the first time....I thought, finally a movie that gets us!
Truly the best years of Our Lives!

Just stating facts. The amount of musicians, bands, albums, concerts, legendary festivals, all kinds of genres. 1966-1974 ,best time ever for music
My mom always told me that this was her song because she was fighting Cerebral Palsy, a Stroke and COPD. My mom was always on bedrest after she had her Stroke. My mom went to Heaven last year. I love you Mom and this song is for you. R.I.P. Mom (1966-2023). I'm also alive and kicking myself because I'm suffering with Type 1 Diabetes. I pray to God that he will find a cure for it one day. I was diagnosed at 9 years old. I'm 19 now and I am alive and kicking. No person should ever have to suffer illnesses or diseases.
I agree. God has a better plan for us that includes no sickness and living forever. Rev. 21:3,4

Alive and kicking. That's all we all need to be happy in life . YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR WEALTH!!
Amen! 🙏 You got that right! 💯
❤ right!
I'll be 60 years old this year. I've lived almost six decades and yet, the best music still came from the 80's. And there's not just one powerhouse group. There were dozens and dozens. Simple Minds may have been just one of many but they were never just Simple Minds. Their music rocked stadiums, night clubs, and many private parties in the Air Force dorms. We had the best music, the best clothes, and the biggest hair. Never been another decade like it. Never will be.
Well said.. 👍👍
Awesome it was . fuck yeah!
it's cos we didn't have woke, globalists trying to destroy us, happier time, better governance and
I listened to this when I was 16,1984 a group of us went to Croyd bay, camp site
I sooooooooooooooooooooooooo agree. The best! x
I have never been young in the 80s. I was born in 1998. Today, something brought me here. Listening this in 2022, I got shivers all over my spine. Such a great song that makes me happy, young and alive for no reason. I even teared up when the piano part hit. Strange feeling of nostalgia for the
times that never existed in my life...
imagine a life with no internet too.
@@peacelovingmusicwarrior5823 It was so great.
Welcome to the '80s bro
Wish you were there...but then, maybe you were in a previous life.
I'm that way with 60's folk/rock transition.
We had no clue that we were living in the best era of music. We thought it would continue forever. Thankfully we have access to remind ourselves how good it was
100% ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I love that they include the backing vocalist in the video - she absolutely slays in this song
Who is she?
My idea have this song in movie about my life maybe starring learndo DiCaprio as me I survived hit n run, attempt robbery, attempt carjacking, food positioning, attempt murder, survived car wreck when I was kid, survived in Colorado on rails of hope, met preacher who rode bike thousands of miles to preach when I was on streets, saved a lady from being chased by machete, saved a guy in my trailer cpr, saved my uncle who had seizure when I was kid, imbed cliff shocked ppl I was around grateful and thankful god is good like to see him as me in movie based on true events
The song would not be what is should be without her backing vocals. algorithyms do not understand these kind of things. I was born in 1972, graduateed in 1990, and I still find this one every weekend. Thumbs up

Back then we all took this for granted because it was played so much on the radio.. but now you listen to it and realize there is not much coming out that can even think about competing with this.. and this dudes voice is just on another level from most male singers IMO.
Your opinion is spot on
Bout Time. Lol, as you kids like to say.
I'd be honored if some 80s fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal YT performances of SISTER CHRISTIAN by Night Ranger, IS THIS LOVE by Whitesnake, and RADIO GA-GA by Queen in tribute to the age of legendary power ballads. Live acoustic with no autotune or digital editing. Stay safe and keep on rocking in the '020s.

The 80's were great. I left Virginia and moved to London in 1981. I was there for all of it.

I can’t believe that I have neglected to listen to so much of the 1980s music. I’m now totally into bands like Simple Minds, Tears For Fears, Spandau Ballet, Talk Talk, and I’m still just scratching the surface. There is a plethora of amazing 80s pop and rock music that I must explore.
Try some Erasure and Duran Duran bro...if you want rock try AC/DC or Metallica...cool tunes to ease the soul man.👍
Talking Heads. New Order.
I suppose one of the upsides to a decade filled with one hit wonders due to oversaturation is that there is a LOT of enjoyable content to listen to. One of the more unknown successful groups though is Sisters of Mercy, do give them a listen certainly.
The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen
There's an awesome German band too, Nena
There is no way around it ..... Thank God I was born in the 60s, grew up in the 70s, and got married in the 80s .... 3 of the greatest decades of music that never will be repeated again .... Lived , Loved, Laughed, and Danced during them .... the youth today I would love to take you back with me and live them all over again
+JOHNNY .BOY i gotta totally agree with ya bro!... :-)
+JOHNNY .BOY I couldn't have said that better --- we were blessed and there was a special sound about great music that was made in the 80s that you can just know that is the decade it was pressed to the album. I was born in 65 and I used to sit during the 70s with my 45s and play them for hours. Remember the little plasic thing that you used to have to put into the middle of a 45 so that it could play on a 33 turntable? Well, if you want to have some fun, find one of those and show it to a kid of the younger generation today and ask if they can figure out what it is for (lol) --- Keep listening to the choice music, friends. I'll see you around the videos.
+JOHNNY .BOY You speak the truth :)

The essence of the 80s right there. One of many songs that makes me happy to have grown in the 80s.
i would swap you for the 80s for the crap i know now!!
I had a brother. That's was our song. Since 2010 he lives in sky. But sometimes, he look me and dance and sing A&K with me. And I find my brother just in my shoulder. Thanks for help me to have my brother near me. Simply you. Simple Minds❤
ANTONIO FLUXA ROSSELLO Your brother is still with u and always will be. He is 4ever omnipresent. You'll see. I feel the presence of my late baby brother in more ways than I have the space to write. I wish 4 u a life filled with love and laughter and your brother will be with u every step of the way.
Robyn Dismon thanks so much, Robyn. Grande!!! Best wishes!
Awesome, my friend!
A big hug for you!!
May he rest in peace

1985 was a very beautiful year for me. I was 14 when this incredibly timeless track came out. After all of these wonderful years, I still love it. #smfan4life.

And I was born in the 80s
my son was born as this song was playing in the surgery room on the radio - the surgeons were so calm as he came out into this world - he wasnt moving at first but then he heard this song & he was alive and kicking !
CLASSIC, Underrated Song.
One of the Better songs Never played Anywhere.
My channel I wore their cassette out back then. It was played a lot on my local radio stations.
That's because the lyrics are about the Creator of Heaven and Earth!!!
I'm so thankful I lived in the 80s!! Getting to experience this music as it came out?? Man...those were the times. This really is the best music!! Simple Minds well live on forever!!
Yes, I lived it too, and it was not just the music. The music videos, the movies, the videogames, the personal computers...
if filthy frank sees this u guys will cry :D
You're lucky , I was born in 92' :(
Weren't we just lucky? I was born in 1963 and lived the late 70's and the 80's!
from the 70's, so yes, I was also there when these wonderful 80's songs came about! the Cramps, Cult, my beloved Prince, I mean..I can go on and on...
How are there 8.5k people who don’t like this song? Kinda hard to believe actually. This is one of the 80’s anthems!!
Will Gentry Who cares about the ones who don't like this! Probably listening to today's music anyway and that is not cool!
Here in AUGUST 2024❤❤❤❤
You turn me on, you lift me up
And like the sweetest cup I'd share with you
You lift me up, don't you ever stop, I'm here with you
Now it's all or nothing
'Cause you say you'll follow through
You follow me, and I, I, I follow you
What you gonna do when things go wrong?
What you gonna do when it all cracks up?
What you gonna do when the Love burns down?
What you gonna do when the flames go up?
Who is gonna come and turn the tide?
What's it gonna take to make a dream survive?
Who's got the touch to calm the storm inside?
Who's gonna save you?
Alive and Kicking
Stay until your love is, Alive and Kicking
Stay until your love is, until your love is, Alive
Oh you lift me up to the crucial top, so I can see
Oh you lead me on, till the feelings come
And the lights that shine on
But if that don't mean nothing
Like if someday it should fall through
You'll take me home where the magic's from
And I'll be with you
What you gonna do when things go wrong?
What you gonna do when it all cracks up?
What you gonna do when the Love burns down?
What you gonna do when the flames go up?
Who is gonna come and turn the tide?
What's it gonna take to make a dream survive?
Who's got the touch to calm the storm inside?
Don't say goodbye
Don't say goodbye
In the final seconds who's gonna save you?
Oh, Alive and Kicking
Stay until your love is, love is, Alive and Kicking
Oh, Alive and Kicking
Stay until your love is, love is, Alive and Kicking
Thank you for lyrics ☺️
ありがとうございます❗
The most optimistic and inspirational pop song I have ever heard. I am 40 and just discovered this somehow 4 years ago. Missed quite the big boat on this one! My favorite song.
Me too. I think I remember hearing it sometime in 1985 like in October or November. Could have been September. Never forgot it. I may have liked it then.
Welcome to a classic friend, enjoy!
Idémodable une super ambiance pour danser toute la nuit avec les copines❣😘
I’m so happy for you!!!!❤️
40 years old guy here, too. Agreed, man ☺️
When MTV was cool and no stupid reality shows.
Rebecca Abel Make MTV Great Again!🇺🇸❤️🎼🎸
Nailed it!!!!!!!!
When it was VH1 or MTV indeed
Didn't MTV start that?
When MTV was Music TeleVision, lol
This song is so underrated that it is not even funny
It's amazing how people thought they only had one hit. This song is actually my favorite
Same here.
I guess it depends on where you're from. In Europe and Australia (where I am) they had a tonne of big songs.
This is, in my opinion, the QUINTESSENTIAL 80's track...it is everything the 80's embodied spiritually: lyrics about passion and loving life, heart warming synths, a powerful female harmony (tear inducing), and a spot on infectious beat. Sung to perfection, played to perfection, written to perfection.
Takes me back to 1985 every time!
This whole album was great. Not a bad song on it.
This is such a classic song. I never get tired of hearing it. It's a SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCE!!!
A TRULY timeless and awesome song!
Oh yeah❤❤❤❤
This group put out music that best fit the 80's and Generation X.
Today is the 10th anniversary of my niece losing her battle with Neuroblastoma cancer.

I love how music brings people together. I listen to this and feel nostalgic and happy and I see so many comments reflecting the same sentiments. 80s music will always be my favorite, but music in general is just so damn essential to humanity!
Great song. This is 80's gold!
I’m 22 and I thank my Mum and Dad for playing 80s music throughout my childhood, it may have took me 16 years to discover what good music is but here I am

i am 14 and i love 80's music :)
1980s ! The Best of Generation X. 1st on my Playlist. 1985 was the best year of my adolescence: High school music fun. Carefree days of my youth. Songs from 80s were called New Wave mostly British Irish bands dominate the Billboards Pop Charts. Duran Duran Tears For Fears SimpleMinds Spandau Ballet PetShop Boys Wham OMD Culture Club Flock of Seagulls 😁😃😍
I remember when this premiered on MTV. They announced it days in advance. It was a big thing back then when MTV actually played music videos!
Épico. Anos 80
MTV world premiere video...... Hey..... Fellow MTV''er
Perry Ball you're so right ! And the world was a better place...... Have a good one Perry !!!
People(haters) are always pointing out that the 80s videos were low budget but look at all the money they waste now on videos &they suck! Id rather see the band members like this just doing the song on a beautiful landscape than> ....idk what ya call some of the stuff today..
@@izzy_6283 Early 80s videos were usually low budget affairs and no-name directors had to become as creative as possible with what they were given by the record companies. Then came Michael Jackson backed by Columbia Records and video budgets shot up allowing better effects and real choreography. This is when most British based bands seen in high rotation on MTV beforehand began to fade from view on the channel (with exceptions like Duran Duran). Nevertheless, MTV began to go downhill around 1986 and never recovered following the hairband metal band and rap phases.
Im am 63 and still kicking😉 love this music and have been following Them since the begining❤️❤️❤️❤️
