I am Chinese, I can tell that those ways to learn Chinese are so true/helpful, and exactly the same when we/Chinese learn Chinese. Never too old to learn.

Oh, I've got the sense that you would be fluent in Chinese in no time...That's very impressive. What you are doing is actually enjoying learning the language, just like that when you have been learning English, I think. With such motivation, a language as difficult as Chinese would be an easy case.

What she said is very true, building muscle memories helps a lot!!! That's also how I learned stroke order while I was young. Besides, one more tip for everyone, if you have some basis of Chinese characters, try to memorize phrases instead, then you can know how to use it as well.

    Thanks, Vicky!
Another good way to learn some of the first characters and stroke orders is to buy an introductory book that explains the strokes and allows you to trace over the characters to practice writing them many times over.
This might be harder to do if your bookstore doesn't have any Chinese language learning books.

    I am German and I like this Chinese sentence: 说 英 文 好 不 好? 我 想 说 英 文 不 好, 因 为 我 们 想 英 国 人 和 美 国 人 是 很 太 大 傲 慢 的 傻 逼! (Americans and English men should not take this phrase seriously, because of some ugly words. They belong to a language and to know them is also important! You must know, what people are talking behind your back!)

Oooo you are smart, good job. I am learning Korean right now. :D I'm a beginner but I thank goodness that Korean is not nearly as hard as Chinese. Hangul is easy to learn and There are no tones. I guess Chinese is a little easier to pronounce for Americans but Korean sounds so much better anyway. I sometimes struggle with Hangul stroke order lol. I can only imagine Hanja Stroke order.... With Korean Hangul its only like 3-4 strokes but with Chinese its what like 24 strokes in each character or something??? I would want to learn someday but right now I am just grateful Korean is not like this. My question is...do you need to learn Hanja to be good at Korean? Like is it an important part of learning Korean? Or is it just like an old concept that has a small amount of value? I would imagine it has very little value for an American learning Korean. Just wondering.

Repetition and the use of stupid learning cards is the most worse thing what you can do with the learning prozess and your brain. It makes you tired and frustrating in wasting useless time. You should learn like a child, which is learning intuitivly the mother language whithout having fear to get a bad note or punishment. Without to be under pressure of performance, compulsion or force. It will do, if you learn a chinese character together with the meaning and pronounciation, to write it somewhere very big and that the new memorized word becomes immetiatly under posession in using it in another context verbal and also in writing as you have been in posession of this new word for ever. (I can say this more clearly in German because English is not my native language)
