    Best video ever! I had my first experience with a Dominican blowout 2 weeks ago and I am soooo glad that I did. I have natural 4c hair that is very thick. When I came out of that salon, my hair was flowing beautifully in the wind. It wasn't weighed down with chemicals or anything. And the cost was fraction of what I pay in a traditional salon that I've been going to all my life. I am going tomorrow for another blowout!

      It's not about products. It's about the person behind them, their technique.
      Not just any typical person can just buy moroccan oil and expect flawless hair. They have to have technique.

  • @JohannaSalon

    TOTALLY AGREE! When I got my license, the last thing i wanted was to be stereotyped as a dominican hairstylist that was in a salon for 12 hours a day! So I am changing peoples' way of thinking towards us that we DO make hair grow but nurturing and actually caring about the hair and person!
    I do weddings, special events hair and makeup
    More vids coming soon, I just havent had the time to actually film. Good luck on ur project

    Oh okay, thank you so freaking much! I did rollers this morning and blow dryed it myself, and it came out perfect!!! It turned out I was always holding the brush totally wrong, and I finally did what you explained to do by holding the hair with your thumb, and smoothing it down, and it made such a DIFFERENCE. Gracias! I'm soo gonna show my friends this video and the the roller set one. Again thanks.
    Where in NY is your salon btw? I live in Washington Heights.

    Hola. Gracias por tu comentario. Todos los twin turbo son de los mejores en el mercado. La potencia es ell numero 3200 o 3800. Yo diria si vas a comprar uno compra el 3800, pero si ya tienes uno no vale la pena gastar por un poco mas de potencia.

    Thank you sooo very much for this video. I normally get my hair done by the Dominicans in Philly and this is how they blow dry hair. Since I've moved to Nj, I have yet to find a Dominican hair salon that can do my hair properly. I've struggled to do my own hair and the only thing I couldn't get right was the blow drying part. Again, thank you!

      And I have 4c coarse hair a little past my shoulders but thick with no perm. Maybe Keritan treatment sometimes. I keep my hair straightened. Could you do a video on coarse hair sometime?

    • @JohannaSalon
      @JohannaSalon  9 лет назад

      1Ataya With hair like yours I would put in some type of leave in conditioner, to soften the hair prior to any heat styling. Try Kerastase line for smoothing and Keracare leave in conditioner this one is especially made for very curly, coarse hair. and ALWAYS use heat protectant spray with oils because Coarse hair tends to be drier. Hope this helps!

    I went for the first time to get a blow out for my natural texture gray hair. My hair is fine and when they finished my hair went from chin length to my shoulder blades and from looking full to looking thin. It looks healthy though. I don't know what to do to protect my hair in this straightened state. What products do I use to keep my ends healthy and what tools to keep ends from breaking.

    I'm dominican and I blow out my hair as much as leaving it curly. A lot of Dominicans actually rock their fro or natural curls, not all of us straighten it all the time. There's even a salon in Dominican Republic that promotes natural hair and style it in a neat way.

    A lot of bright makeup now contains lead, here's how to check lipstick anyway
    1. Put some lipstick on your hand;
    2. With a gold ring on this lipstick pass it;
    3. If the lipstick color changes to black, then you know that contains lead.
    Please send this information to all your friends.

    If the product is sold using words that depict a specific use or ethnicity when the actual package does NOT state it, it's actually a rip-off, false advertisement. If the ad title reads "Leave in cream for Dominican Hair" and the package says "Smoothing Leave-in cream for coarse hair".. it's misleading. If they charge more money for regular product advertised as a specialty one, yes, I consider it as a rip-off. The Sedal cream is the same $3 Sunsilk from Walmart.

    You're right about the false advertisement, but keep in mind that you're not just paying for the product itself you are paying for the service that the stylist is providing..is like going to a restaurant and ordering pasta you know that a box of spaghetti doesn't cost 16 dollars or so...you're paying for chef to make it for you.
