    Anyone who actually wants to know about the Halo Stars beyond the most basic information and a lot of speculation should read the Forges of Mars series. It's literally about an Adeptus Mechanicus expedition past the Halo Zone and into the Halo Stars beyond the light of the Astronomicon. The first book is Priests of Mars. Lion El'Johnson's Primarch book also touches on what was in the Halo Stars in 30k.

    The "Halo Stars" in 40k are a specific group of stars at the edge of the galaxy, not all the stars at the edge of the galaxy. Multiple 40k galaxy maps indicate the Halo Stars to be a specific region wholly within the Segmentum Obscuris.

    If humans go through the warp when they travel, and the warp is a reflection of sentient minds in the Milky Way...would the warp extend into the empty space surrounding our galaxy? Would a ship have the warp, or "a warp", to travel through beyond the edge? The warp is formless and timeless BUT why would it extend past the edges of the Milky Way? Could it even?
    Humm...my cogitator is melting.

    • @meatybtz
      @meatybtz 2 года назад +6

      It is in the lore that you cannot travel via warp outside of our Galaxy. Period. It just... ends. You can't open a warp gate or anything.. though theoretically you can use a dolman gate (quantum gate) that the Necrons use but that also may not be possible as The Silent King spent tens of thousands of years with the bulk of the Necron war machine battling the Tyranids in the void between galaxies. He went in pursuit of the Old Ones but ran into the Nids. Nids travel sublight so they've been traversing from Andromeda for millions of years. The Silent King recognized the threat they posed and spent the bulk of the Necron might and time fighting them while the rest slept. Considering that the Nids left Andromeda with the sum total bio-mass of an entire large galaxy... one could imagine the scale of the fleets fought in the void and why the races of the Milkyway have any chance at all against them. So considering that the Silent King didn't wake reinforcements to keep fighting the nid threat in the Void and was essentially totally out of communication range for the Necrons means that comms, warp, and dolmen travel is non-functional beyond the Halo. Some kinds of slower FTL probably work, but that's it. The Silent King spent the time to point out how every race in the galaxy owes him thanks for his ceaseless efforts against the invaders and owes their lives to him because of the reduced Tyranid strength which is hinted at having significantly cost the Necron war machine. In fact, whatever FTL the Silent King uses is clearly not too much faster than sub-light because he only returned to the Galaxy 10K years prior to the current era which is just shy of when the nid vanguard entered the halo region. In fact, he mentions his return was because of the Pharos incident which took things to the next level as a significant portion of the nid fleet changed course, drawn by the beacon.

    • @mzivtins
      @mzivtins 2 года назад +3

      This would explain how the Silent King was able to exist outside of the galaxy and watch from afar, giving that necrons are cut off from the warp, so it has no bearing.

Any hive fleet that tried to pass would just get crushed. Can't warp travel through without the astronomicon. Eldar webway travel would most likely work.

    There appear to be at least 3 different forms of Halo devices, the ones you described in this excellent vid, another which appears in the book "Edge of the Abyss" which seems to turn it's host into a Rak'gol type monster, and this one is found within the Egarian Dominion, put a pin in that, and the third type appears in the introductory adventure for Rogue Trader and is given a name "the psycunemin worm" pardon my spelling, but it is curious for two reasons, one is that when it is first encountered it is attached to the 3rd eye of a host navigator, and also for the fact it is trying to get back to a Yu'vaath relic and/or sentient voidship detailed in the 2nd part of that adventure. A while back, there was an excellent discussion of FFG forums about the nature of the Yu'vaath and Rak'gol, and it is technically "fannon" but it seems very much in line with where the Haarlock Legacy and warp storm trilogy were trying to go, en brief: the Egarians were almost cute-like, pretty passive and friendly-ish, they use bio-luminesence to communicate and interact with their tech, hence the weirdly lit crystal cities in the Egarian dominion, blah blah, orks show up, which is bad for squishy bugs with nice shiny loot, so they turn some of their own into the first Rak'gol, which are very different from the ones of today. Fast forward so.e more and the Egarian bugs are emo about turning their friends into ugly bugs who cannot interact with the crystal light cities, and eventually delve into warp technology which allows them to transcend physical form, which they hoped to do good with, but chaos is never good so instead they did even more modifications and experiments upon their fellow bugs, bright, and ugly alike, and became horrible warp wielding tyrants until the bad MF Drusus came to town bla bla bla, I think* that the Halo devices are what turns Egarian bugs into rak'gol, and it does a similar thing to any species but of course every species will be a little different since it modifies their base form, not necissiarly using warp magic, they could be pure alien tech weirdness or have a bit o' the ole taint o' chaos, hard to tell...

    So if the body goes back to its peak once the object is introduced into the body I wonder if it can be removed before it fully integrates and if so will the body remain rejuvenated or starts to decay, if it doesn't you can essentially use it as a rejuvenation device. If the latter is possible this could probably help Dante get back into shape.

    • @TonkarzOfSolSystem

      By the time the wearer experiences positives effects, the device is already fully integrated into their body. It would likely be possible to destroy what's left of the original device, but it would not stop the transformation.

    IIRC, the Tyrranids are approaching from one particular direction. That means there's not a singular surrounding ring of Tyrranid worlds encircling the entire galaxy. At the same time, travel via the Warp is a process of travelling through a realm shaped by thought and emotion and belief. What happens when you enter a realm of space where there's NEVER BEEN any such thing? The void between galaxies should be a vast desert of Warp, where there's just... nothing. That sudden cliff falloff from Inhabited Galaxy Space to Just Plain Nothing could be very intimidating, very disorienting, and possibly fundamentally dangerous to travel through in the Warp. I could see either side being safe in it's own way, but the transition between the two would be a HIGHLY transitional zone, and possibly a fairly rapid one.

    Don't feel bad about your mistake, you've just confused one fictitious universe for another. It's been happening, at least, since the same actor played Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers.

    The emperor's field of protection is not present. Sorry, your on your own. good luck.
    Huh... that makes sense. The argument is the corruption part form caos, because they accidentally mess crap up, so the resistance makes sense. I was n't so sure about the theory, but it checks out. BUt resistances only do so much against caos, so, you probably still get effected.

    First off, I love you guys and your content, I'll continue to support..but if you took the time to write out a legitimate script for your videos..it would make a big difference. When you make up words like "sussticient" and say things like "you will become to take on a different appearance" it makes your videos sound shoddy and scraped together. This is all constructive criticism and not meant to be insulting. Just take the extra hour to turn your notes into a consistent and coherent script and I promise your likes and shares will increase.

      i agree. the whole vid felt like it was being free-styled and suffered the inevitable fluffed lines. I also came away knowing very little about a topic i knew nothing about to begin with. I still could'nt tell you what a halo device was, and this was a "40 facts" vid.

    you really have to work on your presentation. you call this a fact and lore video but you don't sound in anyway certain about the topic at hand. "I believe his name is Szarekh." dude, you are making the video, look it up.
    scripting these out in more detail might be a good solution
