I never forget the first time I had Churros for breakfast in Las Ramblas, Alicante... I was seven and it was a revelation - cornflakes never tasted the same again!
I have tried many recipes but I prefer the authentic simple way to make churros as shown here. I have been making churros for years, all you need is equal parts of water, flour a bit of salt and oil. Excellent video!
Authentic from where? Different countries have different ways of making them. In Spain, its just water, salt, and flour. No oil or butter
@@radagast1184 Churros some say comes from "youtiao", which is a chinese fried flour confection; however, it was never used with either sugar or cinnamon. The Portuguese brought Youtiao from China, and supposedly made its shape into a star.
The Spanish Conquistadores brought the "churro", to the New World, and it was in Spain that it was paired with sugar and cinnamon, and drunk with cacao, which Cortez brought to Spain in 1528 from what is now Ecuador.
Correct, many countries have different methods of preparation; but, the original method that the churro, with all its variations carried by the Spaniards, came from Spain.
How can i prevent it from exploding? When i use egg and butter it doesn't explode, when i just simply use flour and water, it explode

If the churro dough is in the fridge overnight, May I know why does it have to be in room temperature before frying?
Also does it have to be in room temperature before putting in the piping bag?

That is right be careful it exploded all on me and my kitchen was all in oil.it didn't work for me

After having tried this recipe, I had an accident wherein the churros exploded in the hot oil. I had burns on my face and my hand. Please be careful while trying this recipe. Maybe it was an air pocket that was created while I was pipping it or the dough created too much steam while it was being fried.
All I'm saying is be very very careful. There's a huge difference between using a pipping bag and a churrera.
We have a similar Christmas dessert in Naples and you need to be very careful when you fry it. My advice is to work the dough on the oiled counter until very smooth to avoid air bubbles. Air bubbles cause the explosion

Make sure that they have the indents when you squeeze them through the piping bag. If you skip that step and they are smooth, they will explode.

I tried making churros today, I put the same amount of water and flour and a punch of salt, when they came out of the fryer they were not cooked on the inside and they weren't fluffy. Also if someone can tell me why my dough was very sticky..I'm going crazy because I want to make this for my wife, but I feel I'm doing something wrong. Please any comments will help..thank you.

@@adrianac.510 I just watched that video hoping to find a perfect recipe , at min 4:08 you can clearly see the churro is exploded. Probably the taste is much better than this one but we still deserve a better recipe.
I have also tried Omar's recipe to a T and I am a cook myself, but it didn't come out doughy inside and the outside was hard. I am going to try it with 1 tsp of baking powder next time. My chocolate came out amazing though and I added my special spices to make the hot chocolate actually "hot" but mildly just so I could still taste the chocolate.

That was way toooooo much oil on that pastry mix. At least you did not overcook them like many places and RUclips videos show.

the kilo is not important as long as you put the same amount of water and flour ... the milks is only for the chocolate and it depend on how much you want. he dosent deserved a thumbs down cause you cant understand basic cooking
they look pale. they may be traditional churros but these day a modifies version is used by making a shoe pastry. eggs butter are added to give it more flavor and a browner, tastier treat. add the butter and eggs.

Dear, Lord. Pale or not, this is the recipe that made churros popular in Spain and then the world. Hence it deserves proper respect for what it enabled. It's a simple and humble recipe, that anyone can make at home. Not a self-congratulating pastry a chef does to over-complicate a recipe that does very well without the bullshit.
