    • @cloudshad0ws
      @cloudshad0ws 4 года назад +15

      Grace is fantastic, but I think the live setting is where Jeff truly shined. Live at Sine-e is amazing. Just Jeff, his electric guitar, and his vocal chords and it's UNBELIEVABLE. It's really hard to believe someone could sing like that LIVE. Mystery White Boy is also a fanstastic album that has songs from a handful of live shows during one of his tours (this time with a band).
      I love Grace, but I honestly don't know if I ever listened to it again after hearing a live version of every one of the songs on it. No reason to.

      Diane Davies his legacy is both ours to keep, and ours to share.
      The divinity of such love and loss seems at times utterly unfair, so sadly laced with an uncertainty rooted in passionate despair.
      From a sentiment so woeful to fill the hearts of the world so full of loving and longing so hopefully strong it may draw lonely souls back to rewrite all their wrongs.
      With the voice of an angel apparent behind the blackened hair, opened up with soulful regress for separated souls to reunite and heartbreak repair.

      Yes, exactly. It’s tragic. With the little he did release he left a giant impact on a generation of musicians after him. He redefined rock music and shaped a slew of subsequent bands and artists. He lived in New York during the formative part of his career and I believe spent some time in New Orleans too. The last year of his life he lived in Memphis.

    Been listening to Jeff for many years now. Tracked down everything I could find on the guy. Read as much as I could. Not ashamed to say he struck me in a wholly different way than anyone else ever did. He made me realize what was possible in regards to artistry, and that one shouldn't limit one self from exploring your feelings in the context of music and it's boundless opportunities. He was so varied in his expression, but you could never ever take away the angelic presence of his voice; his lyrics - or hell, even the covers he did - combined with his flawless phrasing, which somehow held a great lot of desperation in its tone, it was always astounding to me - ephemeral even.
    But the deeper I went into exploring his legacy, and trying to piece together his character, the more I lost this perception of him as being something inhuman, and I realized he must've been quite the opposite: he was as human as they come. The notion of love and relationship, be it friendly, romantically or of course in terms of family, it was woven into his creative expression. I think he was just as you would imagine him: a flurry of emotions, but one that were hosted by a man who could communicate it SO fantastically well. Honestly, I don't think he was a happy guy, or at least burdened to some degree, but at the same time - and without trying to glorify misery - I think it gave a lot to his world view. He would always come across as this mellow and silly character in interviews, but to my knowledge he had a lot of anger.
    The more you realize he is in fact just a young man, the more you appreciate the dismantling of his heavenly persona and instead realize how amazing humans can be if they just worry about their craft!

      Same. This is a hauntingly beautiful lyrical masterpiece, reserved for my Lover. We sadly cannot currently share the rest of our lives together. It's EXTREMELY complicated, but the song wouldn't apply if it weren't. I have Faith though. Love can move mountains! Especially when you both KNOW you are Soulmates meant to share Eternity together♥️♥️I reflect upon the past moments of intimacy tangled together, & yearn for the next stolen moments spent wrapped up inside each other, as close as 2 can possibly be, both physically, & in the entanglement of 2 joined Souls that become ONE. Enjoying the present moments we bump into each other, & intuitively picking up on our ever strengthening exchange of pheromones, that lasts weeks after the moment, & excitedly anticipating the future spent together for the rest of our lives, as it's ALWAYS BEEN since the beginning of time, & Forever Shall Be INFINITELY. The Story of Us, that this song Evokes~

    I shed a tear on this one. “Grace” changed my life when it came out. I was flabbergasted the first time I heard it. Jeff went to GIT in Hollywood with Paul Gilbert and all those cats and learned how to shred. Then he moved to New York, keeping his guitar skills a secret, and began to study Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, the late great Kawalii singer. “Nusrat is my Elvis” he once said. Then, with these incredible guitar and vocal skills, he started doing cover songs and originals at coffee shops, most famously “Sin-e” on St Marks in the Village. Here he was discovered by an A&R from Colombia, and the rest is history. He was for me the pinnackle in an amazing time for music. What could have been, we will never know. The brightest flames burn the quickest. Love you forever Jeff ❤️
