"She's a tear that hangs inside my soul forever" .. Automatic goosebumps every time I hear it. But seriously, make a deep dive into the world to Jeff Buckley you will not be disappointed!
One of the best poetic lines ever written. It's not easy to write something that is both that heart crushing and beautiful at the same time. Sadness and awe is the feeling you get as a listener.
he pointedly didn't want it on the album, and it never 'had a life' during his lifetime. meaning he never performed it, gave it the time of day, or public acknowledgement. and so i think in the spirit of that, the fans that sorta more want to go with the mindset of his legacy, his heart, his wishes..... it's fine to enjoy it and love it, but it isn't necessarily 'canon.' as in, a finished product he signed off on and was satisfied with as a work. to me that's a bunch of the difference.
Jeff was an “ old soul “. He was very young when he wrote this but the lyrics seem like a much older man wrote it . He had an emotional depth that is very rare !
His was the first version I ever heard, and it absolutely slayed me. To me there IS no other version. Leonard Cohen was put on this earth to write that song so Jeff Buckley could sing it. It is perfection.
There was a time when I noticed Jeff starting to drop off the radio (early 2000s?) and I realised "Oh shit, new people wont know his music". Reaction vids like this are pretty fcking important. And this song is my fav Jeff song. Thankyou!
Y'all definitely should check out more Jeff Buckley. His album Grace is one of the best records ever. "Mojo pin", "so real", "dream brother", and "last goodbye", just to name a few off that album. Every track is incredible
Truly missed. He was an amazing artist. His vocals are up there with Dimash,Freddie Mercury,Alison Krauss,Mike Patton,Vince Gill etc. The mans voice is incredible! Thanks guys.
I love how his music isn’t straight to the point and repetitive in the vocals and in the message, it builds up and it changes so much with the melody, the range, the octave, to where you don’t expect it. He truly made a lifetime of a career out of a few albums before he passed. No one can truly top this or replace this in my true hearted opinion.
I first heard this song 20 years ago when I was too young to truly appreciate it. I now watch everyone's reactions to their first time hearing it so I can imagine the feeling I would have if I heard it when I was old enough to get it
This is my favorite of his songs! Last Goodbye is another one that is great! He was an amazing vocalist and I wish he would've been able to do more. Thanks for doing some of his music and great video as always ya'll!!
I have heard this song easily a thousand + times in my life, and watching it again with you guys made me realize i am still not tired of this track lol. I can't think of a greater piece of songwriting depicting the sorrow of a rightfully humbled, heartbroken man. Devastingly beautiful arrangement, vocals and lyrics. btw, awesome reaction. :)
This man will ALWAYS be in my top 5 of male vocalists !! He has a tone to his voice that hits you right in the heart ,he was just a all-round magical musician !!
One album of five originals and four covers. Great singer, great guitar player, great live band. Had so much promise it was frightening. Such a loss when he passed.
currentlyt learning this song, and I can tell you its easily the hardest acoustic song Ive ever tried to learn. Jeff puts so many little blues twists and licks and strange chords, the dude was one of the most talented musicians ever lol
I play keys so I can’t imagine how hard, but if you haven’t checked out Elliot Smith’s guitar arrangements you should. Even as a musician, I was fooled by how kind of humble, almost minimalistic, his tracks were. But then I looked at charts and tabs for his songs, and you’d never imagine what you see on the page would sound so lovely and effortless. But Jeff… he is better at songwriting, singing, playing guitar, performing, and writing poetry than I am at literally anything that exists.
Interesting that you called the intro an accordion and an organ. The actual instrument is a harmonium. It’s basically a reed organ with an accordion bellows to force the air through it. So you were right!
You guys want the TRUE definition of underrated ? THIS is exactly who and what that is. There are not enough people to this day that know much of anything about Jeff Buckley. All most people know is, “He’s the guy who did the lovely version of Hallelujah.” No, not the one from Shrek. That was Rufus Wainwright. This beautiful man got me through one of the one worst heartbreaks of my life. When I started my music channel I flooded it with Jeff Buckley covers. I covered just about any song you can think of and I put my heart and soul into every single one. I’m not going to elude to whether or not they are any good, but I will say I was often accused in the comments of using his vocal tracks, and trying to fool my audience. Lol I don’t even remember how to play half of them anymore because most of them are in odd open tunings and require a lot of finger work. He was no joke on the guitar, and he helped me develop my voice to what it is today. People have no idea how much this man, who was ahead of his time, was a major influence on music for decades to come. Examples: Muse Radiohead Brandi Carlile K.D. Lang John Legend Coldplay Vance Joy You can hear it in a lot of music that came after him. He was taken from us by the mighty Mississippi, and too soon. I guess he was just too beautiful a soul for this cruel world.
I was late to the Jeff Buckley party and came about it in a weird way. They used his song New Year's Prayer as the theme song for the TV show The Dead Zone for the first 3 years. I lovded it and looked into him. I was blown away. The whole Grace album is perfect. He was something else, and just getting started. It's a tragic loss.
His writing style was so unique to him. He was able to harness those emotions and present them to us as an anthem of what we couldn't express, it was always an invitation.
I love Jeff buckley, I truly do. His music is such a savior to me. My names Grace and ofc the one and only album he created while alive was called grace. It’s just so beautiful.
The man had a absolutely fantastic career. He chose to release perfection, and cash it in. I'm sorry Jeff. You gave me so much. I never got the chance to give back. I pray your happy where ever you are. Your talent was one of a kind.
This is my favorite Jeff Buckley song, I also recommend Lilac Wine or Everybody Here Wants You.... thank y'all for finally doing a Jeff Buckley song! I was so excited I listened to it after work before I even started driving home.
My fav too. Still remember the day my non-emotional housemate put Live at Sine’ in the CD player because he had bought a Gibson SG and liked Buckley’s guitar, And this song came on and I was floored by the depth of emotion and the picture he painted of love.
This is my #2 desert island album. I love this whole album. Before I put all my music on computer and phone, I listened to this on cd. If I couldn't remember where I last had it, I'd just go out and buy another cd. There are at least 3 copies of it around the house.
Also, if you consider this song as the end of a relationship, you should also try "everybody here wants you" off his next album. More like the start of a relationship, and near just as good.
Hopefully not to late for this comment?! I’ve read all through the comments and no one mentioned his father Tim Buckley? In my opinion one of the greatest voices ever! Check out either Move with me or Get on Top. Tim died at an early age as well. Died at 28 from a drug overdose.
Have to say this. You should look into Jeff Buckley, for my boy, when he needs to tap into his love-side. Live-at-sine, Jeff Buckley, The Way Young Lovers Do. Try that on. He was a lover. A lover, with killer vocals and killer guitar skills.
The version from Live at Sin-E is incredible. I actually have a problem listening to it because it so heavily evokes a break up from nearly 20 years ago. I have zero regrets about the break up, dude was a junkie and an ass, to boot... Buckley’s music and the raw emotion he conveys is just that moving and powerful.
Wife here.., I just really wanted to say how lucky we are to be able to share this Amazing music with you both and hear your extremely intelligent heartfelt opinions..❤💞
You should look up Jeff’s story. Jeffs estranged father was a pretty famous musician, Tim Buckley, but he never knew him. And the first time the public learned that Tim Buckley had a son was when Jeff performed at his funeral.
Please do yourselves and us a favor by reacting to Jeff's this is our last goodbye next, then go purchase his Grace album, you will not regret it!! Thank you so much for this
The feeling & desperation in his vocals is what always gets to me...such a loss!
One of the most tragic stories in the history of music. A once-in-a-lifetime talent, and he was gone so soon.
Way too soon.
absolutely agree.
fr
And "a tear hangs I side my soul forever" for the music that we lost from this talent
"She's a tear that hangs inside my soul forever" .. Automatic goosebumps every time I hear it. But seriously, make a deep dive into the world to Jeff Buckley you will not be disappointed!
One of the great lyrics.
One of the best poetic lines ever written. It's not easy to write something that is both that heart crushing and beautiful at the same time. Sadness and awe is the feeling you get as a listener.
100 percent
@@matthewstroud4294 i agree the boy has skills to pay the bills
Greatest musician of all time in my opinion. The hill I will actually die on.
"she's a tear that hangs inside my soul forever" is the greatest line ever written
Love that line. But “My Kingdom for a kiss upon her shoulder” is my favorite! 😍🥲
I don’t get why nobody mentions “Forget Her.” To me, it’s an all-time classic. Then again, most of his songs are.
Agreed that song is absolutely amazing
The solo in that is so powerful
Jeff never wanted that song released...great song though.
he pointedly didn't want it on the album, and it never 'had a life' during his lifetime. meaning he never performed it, gave it the time of day, or public acknowledgement. and so i think in the spirit of that, the fans that sorta more want to go with the mindset of his legacy, his heart, his wishes..... it's fine to enjoy it and love it, but it isn't necessarily 'canon.' as in, a finished product he signed off on and was satisfied with as a work. to me that's a bunch of the difference.
It’s one of Paul McCartney’s favorite songs
One of the greatest voices you will ever hear in your lifetime.
Jeff was an “ old soul “. He was very young when he wrote this but the lyrics seem like a much older man wrote it . He had an emotional depth that is very rare !
His version of hallelujah is my absolute favorite. Anything he touched was gold
His was the first version I ever heard, and it absolutely slayed me. To me there IS no other version. Leonard Cohen was put on this earth to write that song so Jeff Buckley could sing it. It is perfection.
"She the tear that hangs inside my soul forever" Gets me every time. You are so missed Jeff.
This song is so special. The world misses Jeff Buckley
His voice was too big for his body, and his heart was too big for humanity
So glad you found Jeff Buckley. Songwriting and vocals on 11. You absolutely MUST hit up Last Goodbye and Everybody Here Wants You next.
Facts!
Everybody Here Wants You is so fuckin smooth. Good ass song.
Truly missed. He was an amazing artist. His vocals are up there with Dimash,Freddie Mercury,Alison Krauss,Mike Patton,Vince Gill etc. The mans voice is incredible! Thanks guys.
This one makes me cry and i dont know why 💚
You absolutely know why.
Grace. Amazing album. 10 out of 10. His live performances are what people really need to look out for. Breathtaking.
If you can listen to this and not cry, you are made of ice.
I love how his music isn’t straight to the point and repetitive in the vocals and in the message, it builds up and it changes so much with the melody, the range, the octave, to where you don’t expect it. This has been my favorite song since 1994.
To watch Jeff Buckley sing and play live is just jaw dropping. Total emotion. Incredible talent
With you.
Same here had the goose bumps like 3 times, was like brand new
The instrument featured in the intro is a harmonium.
This man will ALWAYS be in my top 5 of male vocalists !! He has a tone to his voice that hits you right in the heart ,he was just a all-round magical musician !!
Jeff Buckley is my all time fav. “Grace” either studio version or live on the BBC is awesome.
Corpus Christi Carol is Jeff Buckley's greatest vocal performance IMO. The last 10 seconds of that song is otherworldly
One album of five originals and four covers. Great singer, great guitar player, great live band. Had so much promise it was frightening. Such a loss when he passed.
Jeff was very special.
Jeff buckley did a cover of Van Morission's song live at sine called " The way young lovers do" best performance with a guitar I've ever heard.
currentlyt learning this song, and I can tell you its easily the hardest acoustic song Ive ever tried to learn. Jeff puts so many little blues twists and licks and strange chords, the dude was one of the most talented musicians ever lol

Saw him play at the St James Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand February 1996 - what a show 😮 Daiyumn!!!!!!!!
One of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SONGS by the great Jeff Buckley. RIP.
What an incredible artist
This song is a vibe. Awesome vocalist.
“Grace” and “The way young lovers do” are strongly recommend Jeff Buckley songs, imho
Quite possibly my favourite song ever written by my all time favourite vocalist. Jeff was one of a kind.
He was ready to sacrifice all, his kingdom, his riches, his blood just to see her again
The title track from his album "Grace" will take your breath away.
Haven’t even watched but the fact you reacted to this is 🙌🏻❤️💯. Already smiling. Jeff is a man who doesn’t speak to everyone, but….
Great voice, passionate delivery and beautiful lyrics...heartfelt.
This is on one of the best albums ever. So many great songs on it
Jeff Buckley was so brilliant, I miss him so much, think of all the music he would have gone on to make
You guys want the TRUE definition of underrated ?

He has never been underrated. Grace, in particular, was hugely critically acclaimed.
@@randomperson-dy6kj perhaps *underrecognized* is a better word.
He was a special talent and honestly.. i sometimes mourn for the songs he never wrote ❤❤
one of the greatest singers who ever lived. tragic loss.
swoon - Jeff Buckley is phenomenal!
My favorite song off of my favorite album. Written, sung (all lead and backing vocals), all guitars and all keys. He died way too soon.
Lilac Wine and Last Goodbye are other good ones from JB. 👍🏼
Also, watch videos of him Live in concert. You can witness that emotion he had.
It's a tragic loss.
asia, when he hits those high notes you look both impressed and like, 'ok tim, calm down'
His writing style was so unique to him. He was able to harness those emotions and present them to us as an anthem of what we couldn't express, it was always an invitation.
My favorite singer!
I absolutely love Jeff Buckley. He had such a prolific voice ❤
Jeff buckley is singing perfection.
The singing of Jeff Buckley brings tears to my eyes. This is a wonderful reaction video.
I love this one and the entire albumn. He was so talented 💖
I really recommend reacting to his live performances just to really appreciate how amazing he was
Thank you for sharing Jeff's music!
🙏 ✌ ❤ 🎶 🌎 👏 Jeff
I love Jeff buckley, I truly do. His music is such a savior to me. My names Grace and ofc the one and only album he created while alive was called grace. It’s just so beautiful.
He had a true gift!
This is a great song
you should check out his live performances, i feel his playing and singing is even better than such polished studio presentations.
The man had a absolutely fantastic career. He chose to release perfection, and cash it in. I'm sorry Jeff. You gave me so much. I never got the chance to give back. I pray your happy where ever you are. Your talent was one of a kind.
Finally! Such a great recording!!!
such a well written song ..amazing soul..thank you for playing him
This is my favorite Jeff Buckley song, I also recommend Lilac Wine or Everybody Here Wants You.... thank y'all for finally doing a Jeff Buckley song! I was so excited I listened to it after work before I even started driving home.

Not accordian or organ but harmonium, looks like an organ though, at the intro (organ does kick in later in the song)
Talented burning star. His son followed his footsteps.
I've listened to this song a million times. This was cool getting to watch someone experience this song for the first time.
One of my top 5 of all time ❣️
One of the greatest of all time ❤
Sorely missed he is
This is my #2 desert island album. I love this whole album. Before I put all my music on computer and phone, I listened to this on cd. If I couldn't remember where I last had it, I'd just go out and buy another cd. There are at least 3 copies of it around the house.

In the top 3 Jeff Buckley songs for sure!
Nice. Thanks guys for that. Appreciate the analysis of the lyric. Was expecting more about his voice. Like how you addressed the emotional content.
One of the most poignant, gorgeous, melancholy songs ever. And an unearthly voice to sing it.
I hate that he is gone but love watching people discover how talented he was.😌
Masterpiece
The lady was right! Organ is definitely in their and its great
One of the best songs ever! Rip bucks
Hopefully not to late for this comment?! I’ve read all through the comments and no one mentioned his father Tim Buckley? In my opinion one of the greatest voices ever! Check out either Move with me or Get on Top. Tim died at an early age as well. Died at 28 from a drug overdose.

Nice pick! btw, fairly sure that instrument at the beginning is a harmonium, used a fair bit in qawwali music from Pakistan, a cousin of the accordion
That recording at Sin-E captured something intimate and special.
More Jeff will do you good
Wife here.., I just really wanted to say how lucky we are to be able to share this Amazing music with you both and hear your extremely intelligent heartfelt opinions..❤💞
his song dream brother live from chicago you should check out. You definitely need to check him out live
You should look up Jeff’s story. Jeffs estranged father was a pretty famous musician, Tim Buckley, but he never knew him. And the first time the public learned that Tim Buckley had a son was when Jeff performed at his funeral.
You have to react to Jeff Buckley's version of "Hallelujah ."
The most beautiful booty call song ever.
You guys should react to Mojo Pin by Jeff Buckley it’s really a work of art
Curious to know your reaction to Jeff Buckley’s rendition of “Hallelujah “.
Please do yourselves and us a favor by reacting to Jeff's this is our last goodbye next, then go purchase his Grace album, you will not regret it!! Thank you so much for this
Bro on the right felt every lyric
Now try his father Tim Buckley singing Buzzin fly and strange feeling
She’s blown away bro…
This is one of the Goodest Reactions ever. And that’s official………
