  • We leave Key west after 10 days of partying and head up the Keys. We stop at a couple of our favorite anchorages, then grab a slip in Ft. Lauderdale at Pier 66. We run into trouble at a high end hotel bar when someone roofies us!

This happened to a friends of mine at a high end restaurant in Fort Lauderdale who were escorted out by security for drunken behavior (not belligerent, just seemingly over served) before anything bad could happen but their experience was exactly the same with feeling strange the next day and not remembering 100% of the evening. Your viewers seeing this can benefit from this story so it is important to share. Thank you!

From someone who had a bar i say , never ever leave your drinks unattended. Don't let people lean over your shoulders. I had a bartender once who was slipped something in her drink after her shirt. We had an idea who it was, When he came back in i was informed and told my bartender to the to call the police asap, They called the police and told all female customers on the low down not to drink their drink that i was on the way along with the police, He was arrested that night, he had the date rape drug on him, Every drink was replaced when i arrived and everyone was grateful that we took such action. Please be careful ,

There is NO doubt in my mind that they intended to rob you guys.

Just a thought...the man at the first bar that freaked out was a regular and looking for a mark. He freaked out thinking that he would have his face captured in a photo in a possible undercover investigation initiated by one of his former victims or just captured on your camera after his people had roofied you already. If you had woke up victimized with no memory and turned over your photos of the night before to the police they might have recognized the man as a serial criminal.

Long story short...we woke up in our bed fully clothed not knowing how we got there (it was uber) and a nice crush spot in our bedroom wall where apparently I fell and hit the wall..(remember none of it) and no robbery, all three pups were happily in bed with us, and our memories were blank from the time we stood up to leave our table up to waking up!! We drank less than actually a normal night for us, as like you, we enjoy nice wine and our drinks etc.....But it really bothered us for a loong time that this period of time was missing from our memory banks, if you will....Glad you guys are alright!!!!!

The guy the ran out, most likely. And the guy that “picked up” the woman, absolutely. He was trying to get her away from you. Absolutely no woman, NONE, would join him for “conversation “. The guy who left upset may have been worried about being on camera with a woman he wasn’t supposed to be with. The woman could have been the culprit and it would be interesting to know what happened to the guy offering to pay her tab. You got home ok only because you changed bars. I’m wondering if the bartender at the first bar is possibly in on it and administered the dose. It would be one thing if only one of your drinks was dosed but both would be difficult for a patron at the bar to do. Unless the odd man dosed Ed’s drink and Lyn took a sip of his drink at some point. I have a feeling that “rich” looking woman was in on it somehow and so is the man that came in and offered to pay for her tab if she sat with him. Lastly, the fact that the guy freaked out so badly is a clear tell. If he didn’t want to be in the video he could have easily got up and moved to a different seat or simply asked you not to film him. I would consider contacting the management of the hotel to share your story.

One night a bunch of us (people I had met at the conference) decided to go out and see the town and visit the bars. I had a beer and a gin & tonic. (Normally, this amount of alcohol would not bother me.) Well, that's the last thing that I remember for the next four hours. I woke up walking back to the hotel with one of the guys ( a US Navy Sailor) who was attending the conference. I was exactly as you described.....confused and kind of out of it. This lasted through the next day as well. The more I thought about it the next couple of days I was convinced that I was roofied because I only had two drinks, not enough to knock me out like that. I was lucky as well, I still had my wallet and nothing was missing from it.

The same thing happened to my wife on the day we were flying out of Jamaica. We hung out at the pool bar at the resort while we were waiting for our bus to the airport. My wife was totally out of it after one beer and the airline was not going to let her board the plane and I told the airline that I wanted the authority’s to get her tested to see if she was drugged or let her on the plane. Bottom line they did not want the bad publicity so they let her board. Still to this day she does not remember going to the pool bar and she doesn’t remember the flight home. Since that happened she will not accept an open beer, it has to be opened in front of her.

I’m thinking what you described was almost definitely what you think . I don’t go out that often and when I do it’s mostly to the store or places that are recommended to me . Unfortunately there are Aspwholes that will pray on people just because they can . If your drinks we’re always in sight of atleast 1 of you , I would suspect that the bartender might have been in on your problem . He/She were they only person who had the ability to do anything to your drinks without you knowing it . Just my opinion . As to the rich looking woman , it seems that if the other guy used that line and it worked it probably was what you thought ! Thanks for another great video and sharing your experience with us . 😎

Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale here. In the 1960s it was a great place to grow up! Fishing boats on the river, zero high rise condos anywhere, no crime at all with a sheriff that ruled with an iron fist. Everything changed in 1970. After Carter opened the border to Cuba and Fidel opened the prisons and mental hospitals, South Florida went bad quickly. "Scar Face" actually sugar-coated it!! The drugs and violent crime accelerated in the 1980s and I left in 1991. I really don't like to even visit anymore as my "home" isn't there any longer.

I got roofied once in a hotel in Chicago. I had one drink in a lobby bar waiting for some friends, and the rest of the night was a complete blur.

Thank you for sharing! Did you look away or leave your drinks unattended? Just wondering how they slipped something in your drinks if you had your hand on them like you do in the videos. Also wondering how they did it for people to be more aware?

We do not know how they did it. Perhaps in the kitchen, perhaps while mixing the drinks. Perhaps we were not paying attention.

Very scary. Glad you ended up OK. Your supposition that you were "roofied" makes the only sense. Do you know if there was a moment when both of you had your attention away from your drinks? it has to be a slick operator to slip a pill or fluid into both of your drinks unobserved. I wonder how you managed to text the Uber if you were already heavily drugged?

As a and restaurant owner I would say most likely your were. The man that threw the “fit” was the decoy, and filming them would have been the worst thing that could happen as you would have had proof of a crime. When you turned your attention to him, she slipped what ever into your drinks. It only takes a second. I have seen this in the past where two guys came into the bar and sat down next to a lady, several minutes later one caused a seen wit ha Edson next to him, and the other dropped something into the lady’s drink,, fortunately the bartender and I both saw it and immediately stopped both men and called the police. They tested the drink and sure enough it was tampered. My only suggestion is now that you (and anyone else) have seen/experienced this behavior, remember It for next time someone causes a distraction of any kind in a bar. Immediately put your hand on top of your drink, or pick it up and hold it close to your body. Your natural tendency is to watch what is going on. Think of it like a magician doing slight of hand tricks,,, your never see it coming. Glad you were ok!

IMO! The guy who was sitting across the bar and offered to pay the ladies bar tab to sit with him is your man probably with the bartenders help. Was probably thinking of getting at least two of you. The guy that got upset left like you & Lynn also left to quick for the full effect to work. I’d be willing to bet the lady Ed said looked wealthy probably wasn’t as lucky. Stay safe! Thanks for sharing
