Oh my goodness Lynn… thank you so much! I received a super chat during last weeks What’s up Wednesday, which was my first. You are the first person to do this here on RUclips comments. Thank you so much, you’re so thoughtful! 😘
You are so welcome! I'm glad you found it helpful! I am working on a new notebook cover video tutorial. It fits on a regular notebook instead of a composition notebook and it has an optional zippered pencil case made onto the front. Thanks for watching and leaving me a comment! Happy Sewing!
I agree Rose, it can be very difficult to find projects to sew for boys. I’m sure you have some fabric that will be perfect for these and I’m sure your grandson will love them. Have a wonderful week and have a great time sewing!
Perfect timing! Just yesterday, we bought school supplies for my 6th grader. All of the composition books were rather plain. I was thinking I could make covers for them! Thanks for the bonus footage on the sure enough scrappy versions, as well!
You are so welcome! Thank you for letting me know that you enjoyed the bonus footage, that’s very helpful. I’m glad you found the video helpful and yes, those notebooks are rather plain, aren’t they? I just showed our granddaughter the notebook covers yesterday and she was very excited about them. I think they’re going to be wonderful gifts! Take care and have a wonderful week. I hope you have a lot of fun sewing these!
You are just too sweet, Doris! I hope you give these a try, I’m sure the grandchildren will love them. I have five of them sitting here in my sewing room and I just went and bought 10 more composition notebooks this morning, ha ha. Could you tell I like making them? Have a great week!
Hello Marie, back in Maine on the farm for a bit and yes you guessed it...straight to Mardens. This is such a wonderful project for back to school and a great beginners project for the grandchildren. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Happy sewing to all.
Wonderful! I hope you enjoy your time here, and I’m glad you got to take a trip to Mardens! I hope you found some deals while you were there, too! My mom lives down in Augusta, and went to one of the Marden’s that is local to her, looking for Tula pink fabric like what I found at ours. Unfortunately, that one didn’t have any. A person just never knows what you’re going to find in that store, ha ha. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to write a comment to me. Have a wonderful week!
They are absolutely beautiful! You my friend are an artist! Thank you so much for this absolutely wonderful tutorial! Hey, I want you to know you are talented and beautiful inside & out! Love show’s in everything you make, say and that smile!
Thank you so much 😊. You are like my own personal cheerleader, ha ha! But really, thank you so much for always backing me 100%. You are ever so sweet and I appreciate you. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and a fabulous week!
Glad you like them and that you found the bonus footage helpful. I REALLY appreciate your feedback on that! I just bought a bunch more notebooks, because these are just so much fun to make! Take care and happy sewing 🧵
Thank you, Marie - I absolutely LOVE your note book covers and am sincerely excited with the prospect of trying my luck at making a few of them. I think they will make lovely Christmas gifts for all my friends who like to journal and/or keep notes.😀
Hi Sue! You sound determined and excited, so I hope you do give the notebook covers a try - I know you could make some gorgeous ones! Like you mentioned, they make great gifts!
Marie, this is exactly what I’ve been wanting to make. I’m so excited to make these! 💞🤩 I would love to see a tutorial on the added zip, and one with binding, too. Thank you, Marie. I’m ordering the composition books today! They’re difficult to get locally right now because SC just had a tax-free weekend for back to school items.
Well, it sounds like the video came just in the nick of time, ha ha! I’m happy to know that you and so many others found it helpful and timely. Hubby and I went to Walmart this morning and I had composition notebooks on my list, since I had found them for $.50 each last week. Well guess what? They’re completely sold out. I asked when they would be back in stock and they’re hoping for around the 12th. Fingers crossed that they get them back in and they’re still on sale. I’m sorry that you had to order yours and can’t get them locally! Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment. Have a wonderful week!
@@MariesScrappyCreations I don’t mind ordering things online, especially with Amazon Prime. I can’t get out of the house much and it’s easy; most of the time I get free shipping. Always a plus! Sorry you didn’t find yours at Walmart. That you were able to find someone to answer your question is terrific! The two in my town have cut back on staff so much it’s difficult here. When they stopped having fabric cutting personnel I pretty much stopped shopping there. 🙃
@lynnshepard7485 yes, there happened to be a worker sticking pens nearby 😉 I got on their website last night and irfered more for 50cents each. They limited me to 12, but that's OK. I think I have enough now... at least for awhile, lol! I have to order a lot online, since we really don't have any other stores nearby. The closest Target or other department stores are about 250 miles
You are so welcome! I’m so happy that you enjoyed this project! Oh, I wanted to ask you a question. I’m sure you noticed the front of one of the notebooks has a piece of fabric that you sent to me (at least I think you did, if my memory is correct, ha ha). It looks like a Loralie Harris fabric, but I wasn’t sure if it was, or not. The reason I ask is that our granddaughter saw that yesterday and went crazy over it when she saw it on the front of the notebook so I would like to try to find a few more pieces of it to make something for her. Thanks in advance for any information you might be able to provide. Take care and happy sewing!
@lesa6399 awesome, thanks! Yes, our granddaughter thought she was the "prettiest princess fairy". I knew she'd look perfect on the scrappy notebook cover! Thanks again!
Hi Lucy! I’m so glad that you enjoyed this project and I hope you have as much fun sewing some, as I did making mine. I bought a big stack of composition notebooks when we were at Walmart today. I guess that lets you know what I intend to sew, ha ha. Take care and have a fabulous week!
I have made a few of these in the past, but of course your video is the best! I like how you give us ideas to make them several different ways, some of which I wouldn’t have thought of. I’m ready to make more using your video as I think these would make great gifts. Having a few on hand for those “surprise” gifts needed, would be handy. I love your blouse today. It reminds me of scrappy and that makes me happy! Happy Sunday!

I just turned 90 in November and I wish I felt a lot better than I do but I do my best to keep on going and you’ve helped me do that and I have made many bags. Everybody loves my bags and I put hand chips in them and thimbles and I have a lot of collections and I have to use them up before I die, so I would like to send you one of my bags and you can judge my work if you want but the seeing that I only have 30% of my vision I guess it’s as good as it can be so tell your mom I said hi and I wish we could be together sometime. It would be wonderful and my best to you and your family. God bless you all. 1:06:00 😊😊😊😊 I do have that addiction for fabric my goodness I still keep buying it and I won’t live long enough to use all of it so I guess that is an addiction. Thank you😊😊😊😊 😊
Hi Marion! Yes, my mom will be 91 in June. She's in very good health and is busy every day, housework, cooking, etc. She still walks about a mile every day, weather permitting. Thank you😊😊😊😊

Hi Marion! Yes, my mom will be 91 in June. She's in very good health and is busy every day, housework, cooking, etc. She still walks about a mile every day, weather permitting. I bet you two would find a lot to talk about! I'm so glad that you found my videos helpful and that you've been trying new sewing projects. That's always fun! Thank you for such a wonderful comment, and I'm sorry that I am so late in responding.
I would like to see some with zipper please
Sounds great! I've heard the sane from others, so in the near future, I'll do another tutorial featuring a zippered pocket, as well as teaching how to make various sizes, depending on which size notebook a person has. Take care!
