I could tell from the comments on this pervious altered composition notebook video ruclips.net/video/86Av814CrNU/видео.html , that I am not alone in not liking to measure lol! So here's an updated version of those tips & tricks using newer products and adding in some fun twists like a foiled binding!
I’ve always wondered why the other people always want to measure, especially knowing these inexpensive composition notebooks are usually a little wonky. I’ve only seen one other channel do things this way and I love seeing you using this method!
Right?! Measuring ruins the creative vibe lol! And you're so right--I never really thought about the fact that composition books are not exactly perfectly measured themselves!
I truly thank you for this DYI. And I thank you for making it simple, staying with the project. No extra un needed inf. It is a fantastic video. You are awesome..
Oh my- yesterday was my lucky day- I came across this video- introducing me to YOU- a gifted, easy to follow and to listen to instructor, and this method- I realized watching you what a hang up creating a cover has been for me- even though I have been art journaling more than 10 years! The other thing that happened was one of those God ( or ah-ha) moments! For months I have been totaling not into it- had totally lost my mojo and I couldn’t figure out why. To make a long story short- a dear friend got obsessed with art- in particular watercolors- and I was trying to imitate her! I loved with a passion what she created but I realized that that was her style- not mine! No wonder I couldn’t find the passion! And what made me finally realize that? Your video- that I watched tonight. One of the quotes you used was “Follow Your Rainbow”. I looked at that- and it finally hit me- I was following her rainbow- not mine!! No wonder I had lost my enthusiasm. I dearly loved her creations but I didn’t enjoy the creating of them myself. She did beautiful, subdued, precise works of art- MY style is the big, bold and wonky style of Penny Raile. Thank you so much Rebecca-and sorry this is soooo long! But I had to share my story with you! Love your channel for many reasons now!
Well today is my lucky day! Reading your kind comments really brought a smile to my face! You are so right! I think that sentiment, "Comparison is the thief of joy" is so true. It's hard when we see someone else enjoying something so much or using a certain style or medium...of course we want to enjoy it too! But like you said, if it isn't YOU then it isn't you! Of course you can try it out, but if the enjoyment is not there, it's just not worth it! I'm always trying to mention in videos that this is supposed to be fun! Crafters put so much pressure on ourselves to be perfect and judge our own creations so harshly! Life is way too short for that and we all need to continually remind each other of that! So thank YOU, Judy, for reminding me because I fall into the same trap myself. Have a wonderful weekend.
I am in complete AWE! I love you idea of no measure. I don’t mind measuring but I do want to make a quick project sometimes and no mess 😊. I’ve subscribed ❤
Altering composition books is my most favorite thing to do! I have given away dozens to friends and family (whether they want them or not), and use them for a multitude of purposes myself. I don’t mind measuring but I still enjoyed watching your tips. I LOVE the faux stitching idea! I will definitely try it! Foiling is something I haven’t yet tried but need to - the effects are fantastic! Thanks!
They really make great gifts! My 15year old always asks to keep one. 🤣 I was pleasantly surprised with how well the faux stitching turned out and how well the gel pen showed up on the binding! Definitely give the foiling a try! It’s so fun and easy with the adhesives and doesn’t require a laminator!
I have watched several videos on composition books, and although all are different and beautiful in their own way, I honestly love yours the best!!! Getting ready to do some this week, so I’m super excited to find this video!
Great ideas. I never go see where to buy if ya'll use products I dont (I use what I have) until 10 minutes ago after watching this video- the BEAUTIFUL foil you used. It really spoke to me. New to paper crafting but enjoying. Can't wait to branch out with these products & others I don't know about yet. Will be watching you. Thanks again 😊
Excellent video! I was looking to create an altered composition book for my nephew and now I know how to do it. I have the supplies I need so thank you so much for sharing!
What is the weight of the paper you are using? Is is like 65lb card stock? Or 24lb copy paper weight? Thank you for sharing your creativity and talents.
The weights of the patterned papers vary and sometimes they don't even say what they are in the product descriptions, but they are probably closer to the 65lb.
Great video. Thank you! Can't wait to make one of these. When you paste decorative paper on top of the lined paper, do you do that to the front and back? or just the front?
Yay! They are so much fun to make and either use or give away! It totally depends on the quality of the notebook paper. For the really thin dollar store composition books I usually put something on the front and back because the paper is so thin you can see the back of the design through the other side of the notebook paper. For thicker notebook paper you could totally get away with just doing one side!
The majority of the supplies I’m really love are no longer available! Do you know of any other place where they may have them, for instant the tab dividers, deco foil transfer and the paper clips.
This is so cute. I love the striped paper. In another video, I noticed a small white organizer you used to lay out your alcohol markers on their sides. Can you tell me what it is or where I can get one?
Thanks! :) I bought my marker storage from Organize More: www.organizemore.com/products/standard-marker?_pos=1&_sid=e884d08da&_ss=r I am in the market for another, but I'll warn you, the shipping is pretty pricey.
Wow Rebecca 🤩 these composition notebooks are stunning! I LOVE the techniques you used for them. Adding foil to the binding?!?! Absolutely genius! I am super excited to make some. Great gifts for teachers, actually, who wouldn’t want one? Thank you so much for sharing. Yay ❤️📓🌈💕

@@RebeccaKeppel Thank you ever so much for your help.
Very nice!

I noticed that the cover doesn't lay flat after awhile in your designing the notebook. Any tips to get that not to happen?
You can avoid this if you don't put the paper all the way to the edge of the book. Leave some of the white paper showing.
Hello. I'm looking for an anti-static powder bag. Is there a particular one you recommend?
Easiest process yet
Thanks for watching!
How fun!!!
Thanks for watching! :)
I love your video
I know what I’m doing tomorrow!
Yay! Have fun! If you share on Instagram tag me @rebeccakeppel -- I'd love to see your creation!
The majority of the supplies I’m really love are no longer available! Do you know of any other place where they may have them, for instant the tab dividers, deco foil transfer and the paper clips.
Question: do you glue a second sheet of paper to the divider? I’ve seen that done as a support when those sheets are so thin.
Sorry, I stopped to ask my question and further along you do just that! 😂
LOL, no worries! Thanks for watching!
Like your approach. I don't like to measure everything either. Your video is blurred, however.
Could I also use spiral notebooks
You definitely could! I just like embellishing or accenting the tape binding on the composition books. :)
I have been trying to figure out how to attach ribbon bookmark
❤️
💕
You're good...
This is so cute. I love the striped paper.

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind words! Teachers gifts are GREAT ideas for these!!
I like your hair with curls
I get bored of the same hair style, and sometimes it's fun to have curls...even in quarantine!! LOL!
So what do you do with these books after you decorate them?
Some I give as gifts, some I keep for myself. They are perfect for gratitude journaling, making lists, planning etc!
I have me at NO MEASURE
Too fast you don't want us to learn it do you?
