Well, he probably does get money out of all the views. Deservedly so. However his passion and time are not a "present" in that sense. Still, I wish many more youtubers of this kind existed, instead of spoiled kiddos ranting about their day at the mall.
My admiration and respect for this gentleman is unbounded. He not only has a phenomenal technique, but great musicianship. His total commitment to the music shines throughout - a dedication that he selflessly shares with all. A true inspiration to lesser mortals like myself.
I cannot agreed with you more. Wow! He is so talented and gifted pianist and painter. THANK YOU PAUL for letting me rejoice my classical music all over again.
Speaking as a a non classically trained pianist who paid his way through college and law school playing at weddings and who learned to play a few Chopin piano busters later in life where I was obliged to write out the names of the notes on the score and making numerous mistakes, I am so impressed with all the people who can play these compositions so perfectly. This is a tribute and a testimonial to the fantastic quality of the the instruction at all of the various music schools around the world who turn out all these fully developed pianists. I get really upset however when I watch children as young as six years old playing some of these ETUDES as perfectly as the adults...one of them even playing the OCEAN etude....BLINDFOLDED
I hope everyone watching understand what a treat it is to see someone perform all 12 of Op. 10 start to finish like a recording. I am beside myself right now. Thanks for taking the time to record this...BRAVO!
I know how it feels to play the guitar fairly quickly-when you pull it off and are in exact time it's amazing. But I've always wondered what it physically feels like to have your fingers play these incredibly complex arpeggios from one end of the keyboard to the other-perfectly. Your mind can't possibly think that fast, so your muscle memory has to take over, your main brain cooperating perfectly with the ten tiny brains in your fingers (nerve bundles and muscle fibers, all entwined together) . . . But it must feel so SATISFYING to be able to create those incredible washes of pure sound. Like painting the air with a huge aural brush. In my next life, I promise I will practice my piano EVERY DAY from age three onwards.
If you want to be good, I mean REALLY good, BEFORE your next life have your parents expose you to classical piano while you're still in the womb! ^..^~~
I play the piano, used to play the guitar. Its pretty much the same "feels good" feeling. Especially when youre playing live and bitches be all over u lol
November 2020... I've watched and continue to watch your videos for over 6 years now. They are a source of joy, relaxation, inspiration and admiration Paul. Like so many others, you are part of my conscious life and I am profoundly grateful.
Paul, that first Etude you played was so beautiful, mesmerising. I could feel the emotion pouring out, it was truly an incredible performance of the piece. Same with all the others but particularly the first one for me.
Yes! He is very good. He should be really famous. He plays every bit as well as some of the well known ones out there. I want to add that I am learning some of the pieces he is playing, and he has been a tremendous help in my own efforts. Thank you, Paul! I really appreciate these videos.
Amazing passion, and beyond beautifully performed. No. 4 has brings up a strong emotion from my early childhood, but my mum had never heard it when I asked her about it. Thank you sir for stirring my heart.
you satisfied me in a way more than the other interpreters strive for. perhaps it is your profound understanding of the music you play that moves me throughout this performance. thanks so much for sharing :)
you can’t really say that u can hear chopin playing as we don’t know what his playing sounded like since there were no recording devices in the early 19th century (sadly….); paul is really good tho i agree 👍🏻
Spinach and Scenery I agree. First time I heard it I thought it was a nocturne but then someone told me it was part of Chopin op10 etude, I was like wtf
You're very inspiring, sir. I watch alot of your videos. I got a second wind to play and as of this week, have learnt Chopin Nocturne 9 opus 2 after thinking I'd never be able to do it. I wont be doing any of this anytime (probably ever) but thats why you make these videos and I watch them. Beautiful.
I had a vast amount of respect for your playing before, but an even greater admiration and respect now!! Wow, Paul, you are such a masterful pianist and as good as any of the "greats"! I especially loved your version of the great and powerful Tristesse! I miss playing that so much!! I played some of these pieces in my youth, but simply can't move my fingers like that anymore due to injury. Not only do you play masterfully, but very emotionally and you have them all memorized, too! Wow, what an accomplishment!!! I don't know if you have ever been a concert pianist in your life, but you sure could be. You would pack an auditorium for sure! BRAVO Paul!!! ~Jackie
I find it curious how easily you perform the studies No. 1 and 2 (considered among the most difficult ones of the collection Op. 10) while, I have the feeling, the rendition of No. 12 is not that effortless. However reaching this quality in all this works it is indicative of a world-class pianist. Thanks Paul
The presentation is just so very good. The video is great and he sound perfect. Love the Feurich piano. I have a Yamaha Clavinova cap 370 and it is nice but can’t match a “real” grand piano. But for me it was the best I could do. Just turned 70 and bought it last year at a retirement present. Getting better but don’t think I’ll ever get to Paul’s level. But i do enjoy it.
you don’t need to be at the level of paul or any other popular performer! the most important thing when playing any instrument is that you’re enjoying yourself and the music you play. it’s a hard mindset to have, and after almost 8 years of playing i still don’t have it. also, it’s much harder to pick up an instrument when you’re older compared to when you’re like, 5 xD. honestly glad you’re able to enjoy it though, i think not growing up having the pressure put on you to be a virtuoso might be part of it. wish i never tried to pursue a career in music and just played to have fun because it lowkey ruined my playing :(
This is so wonderful! I just keep coming back to it. To play all the etudes is an accomplishment I can only dream about. Each one takes me almost a year to master!
Was looking some inspiration for piano practice and came back to old faithful Paul Barton , keep up the good work with you & yours kind regards WF Robinson

svaellmen plenty of people enjoy classical music, you will rarely find us on youtube though unless we are looking for a performance in which to learn from. Rousseau has like 1.5 million so there are some possible piano RUclips’s. Granted he also plays modern music but play Chopin etude 10 op. 4 and Winter Wind
op 10 no 2 is arguably the most difficult Chopin etude. The only real competition is 25-6 and maybe 25-11. 10-1 is next but 10-2 is just a different beast. It is not only chromatics with the THIRD FOURTH AND FIFTH fingers like wtf, and its also more notes with ur thumb and 2nd finger, you'll find ur right-hand has SO MANY awkward positions. The left hand is not too complicated, but to top it all off the level of LIGHTNESS you need to put into this piece is insane. It is impressive you can play it with such ease! Keep it up!
Hi Ethan, yes, you are right, (at least from my own experience - everyone is different) I found 10/2 considerably harder than all the other etudes. 25/11 sounds incredibly difficult and also scary to study, but it's not as hard as 10/2 by any means. 10/1 is incredibly difficult, but, if you put exactly as many hours into practicing 10/1 as 10/2, it sounds a whole lot better as music than 10/2. 25/6 is only hard if you delay practicing double third scales and trills in your early piano studies. If you introduce double third scales early on (and there's no reason not to) you won't have that much trouble with it when the time comes, you just need to get your brain and fingers to like playing thirds, once you do that, you'll love playing 25/6. 25/10 is a bit harder at a fast tempo than 25/11 at a fast tempo, but people don't play this etude as much. 25/4 is really hard at a fast tempo, not so hard at a moderate tempo. The strange thing about 10/2 is it sounds so easy to play if you don't play piano -- but, in reality, most piano students can practice and perform any of the terribly difficult sounding etudes faster per hour practiced than 10/2. In my own experience, 10/2 is the most important etude in the set of 27, it's the key to unlocking the right hand for the rest of the etudes and of course, anything and everything ever written for piano in the treble clef with evenness in mind, notably Bach and Mozart.

39 years of age...THIRTY-NINE!!! It is unimaginable how much could the beloved CHOPIN given us, had he lived just ten more years.
I don't think anyone knows how exquisite that piano sounds, the hammers have the perfect felty sound, so soft yet bright!
9:48 is the best part of No. 4. The perfect ending to the piece.
