It is absolutely safe, all of this is done locally and if Valve actually even did ban steam accounts for those violating DMCA, they would've banned a bunch of addon creators already. It's safe
why does it have to be a discord server? Putting archived content behind a discord server is STUPID. I have hit the 100 server limit and want to join other servers. Why can’t it just be hosted on a website or sonething?

Just because something opens cmd doesn't mean it is a virus. Lots of useful programs use cmd. Only way they can be harmful is if they ask for admin permission. Even then, it is most likely not a virus if you know that the program needs admin permission for it's job.
this really helped but i got a question, even after i downloaded the models and tried to extract them in gmod publisher, it says only downloaded addons need packed garrys mod addon thing in order to reinstall the deleted addon. any advice?
@@MixelFan95 In early 2022, installed addons started being moved from the gmod folder to the workshop folder, idk why. But addons for gmod are instead located in your steam library > workshop > 4000 (gmod's steam id) and there are a bunch of folders with numbers representing each addon. The addons folder in gmod now is basically just for legacy addons

You have no need to convert back to a gma. Extended Spawnmenu will make the addon folder appear in the "Addons - Legacy" tab in the spawnmenu

i downloaded the gmpublisher and it opened a command prompt and almost immediately closed is so i think i got a virus

So you just have a zip file instead of a gma? Just extract the zip to your addons folder. That was the point I was making at 1:03
