Hard agree! I really really wish people paid more attention to TAR and had a deeper level of conversation about it rather than "I hate this cast. I love this cast. Location wgaf. Do Survivor videos". It's why Mer and others barely touch on this lost, great and detailed show. 🤦🏾♀️ It honestly breaks my heart whenever I see comments on a TAR video requesting for Survivor and BB videos.
Okay but I was watching the season like just yesterday and took a look at some interviews where Pat & Brenda thought Frank doing push ups in the airport was the most freakiest thing and I’m just dying 😂
All seasons of TAR was added to Disney+ here in Canada, and it's very quickly become my #1 priority watch season after season! I watched in the mid '00s, but stopped. Ended up picking it up again a few years ago, so up until season 25 or so are pretty much brand new! The older seasons almost feel like a whole other edition of TAR, we see so much more behind the scenes and at the rest stop, that I wish they never got rid of.
I wish CBS still had kept those extras clips from TAR11 onward. Those were so intriguing to watch. Kerri & Stacy from 20 have completely different angles on their personality than in the broadcasts.
I disagree with you saying that this season is weak. To me what makes this season great is how raw it is. Of course different people value different things on tv, but overall I think this season is strong. There are the weak points sure, I mean you could of course predict when the non elimination legs would be, but I think that’s a lesser part of what the season is about. As a whole, this season just feels so unique, kind of like a documentary. Plus it IS pretty much the only season to have white and yellow flags as the show’s symbol.
The only two great seasons of the first 11 for me are 6 and 7. The rest are just okay (sorry, I think 5 is overrated) except 8 and 11, which I can't stand.
@@coolnerdlll6053 Yes, 8 is HORRIBLE. My wife and I had to skip it half way in. It was just too bad. We've watched through 9 and my favorites have been 3 and 5 so far
@@granthicks1648 I call 6 the So Bad It's Good season, because it's a ton of fun having an entire cast of dirtbags. Jonathan & Victoria are my all-time favorite dysfunctional couple and there are a few likable teams. I'm not defending the unlikable people, and the hate for KKKendra is deserved, but I do think it's an interesting angle for the show.
This season isn't bad, it's just very low-level compared to modern seasons. The Joe & Bill airport incident is one of the dirtiest moves I've ever seen on this show and I'm glad those arrogant snobs got stuck in Alaska. Plus the low grade production makes this season nearly unwatchable at points. Phil's narration is really stiff, the tasks are way too easy and I'm not a fan of the Fast Forward being on every leg. I also hated Phil not being at the Pit Stop. But it's not the worst by any means, it's certainly no 32. I love Kevin & Drew and most of the other teams are at least tolerable, and the final five legs are among the best ever. It could have been a lot worse, but I probably won't watch it again.
Unpopular opinion: I think the tasks are solidly perfect for a first season. It gave a much needed glimpse at what was possible for teams and determined the future direction of the show. I'd rather had had The Amazing Race start off with a humble approach like the hard and quick/easy and long Detour, testing the Fast Forward, and classic Roadblock. It made sense at the time and it was great to see that growth. For production, mind you, this was all taped pre-9/11 and the amount of obscure and authentic travel information we could get from international sources in the US weren't so easy to access or plentiful. Nobody knew what the heck they were doing, not even the crew, because it was the first of its kind and that's what made it so insane to watch for me. Unexpected run-ins with locals and navigation being even more demanding definitely made it interesting to watch. Again, I agree that I probably won't watch it for a long while unless I want a trip of extreme nostalgia.
I am on Season 7 Episode 6/7-ish and what I miss after season 2 are the Fast Forwards. It would make TAR way more exciting again if there were more FF’s again. Just 2 FF in Season 7 :( every team could flip the script with FF’s tbh
Oof, you're gonna absolutely hate the newer seasons as they go on lol. But 12 through 17 was the golden age for me. I never felt so much adrenaline through my entire body watching TV.
@@jessetorres8738 You snapped. omg I want Mer to drag that season to filth, no filter. Not to mention the last few episodes' tasks tanked the season as a whole (like TAR32).
@@nathandanczak7822 The three-headed horsemen of Freddy & Kendra, Jon & Victoria, and Lori & Bolo made me want to cut my ears off. The screaming and fighting to the max they had combined with Kendra's racial microaggressions in Ethiopia puts this season really low for me, and that's not the start of it. The tasks and route at the back end of the season were trash and tanked the season for me.
Agree. I think the 24 hour penalty is too harsh (it's like an automatic elimination). Considering they shortened it out in the later seasons, I think it is just more about TAR feeling out how to do the show during the first season.
I doubt it. They finished behind Kevin and Drew, who were already screwed by the hours of operation the next leg. It would've been one of those teams stuck in Alaska instead of Team Guido.
I have this season on DVD
yes please continue the amazing race retrospectives this video was great

Nice video looking forward for the survivor cast assessment
There is a high probability that if Nancy/Emily don't take that penalty they at least cross the finish line.

Rank anime protagonists based on their odds to do well on a season of Survivor
You should do a video of dream casting survivor battle of the seasons
Or you should do top 10 characters in survivor
