      I thought for a moment that Jazza was joking (a bowl full of Pokemons) but then it was obvious the reference was not caught. It happens though, people may know about Dragonball but have no idea what a super saiyan is.

      i do digital art and luckily i have a program that saves automatically (like only 1 stroke goes back/gets deleted) because i knew i would forget to save 😂

    • @jaggerra7
      @jaggerra7 5 лет назад +9

      Not just save often, but every few hours make a completely new save file while keep the old one. I've had my art program and my computer crash a number of times and when I went to my last saved file the whole thing would be corrupted and unopenable/unusable. It used to make me scream and cry, losing so many hours of hard work (sometimes the full project), especially if it was for a paid commission with a hard deadline. Now I sometimes end up having 5 to 30 different save files from the beginning of a project to the very end depending on how long it takes, but it gives me peace of mind. For paid work I also save to a usb flash drive just incase everything goes up in flames. The paranoia is real.

    Just going a bit further with the point you were making with the tip on the bowl of food picture about keeping your own style; another reason to do so is because if someone has commissioned a piece from you they obviously like your personal style as they have chosen you to create the artwork they want. You wouldn’t go to a tattoo artist that specialises in greyscale if you want a watercolour tattoo so the same applies to any kind of art you are buying, you tend to find someone who’s style fits your own, or someone who’s style you love.

    Hey,
    While I watched your video, I got an idea:
    You know Harry Potter, right? It was originally only the book. And the charecters are slightly different from the film versions.
    So, my idea: You could redraw the charecters, but not like the movie, but like its written in the book! After drawing, you could compare your version and the movie-version. Surely you could do this with any book-character from a book, that is also filmed, but I'd love to see Harry Potter characters!
    Please, everyone who would like this idea, leave a like on this comment, so he can see!

    • @fudgecake4633
      @fudgecake4633 5 лет назад +2

      It's because working in greyscale means that colours are shared with black. There are no hue shifts in darker tones. I didn't know this and tried painting something in black and white once, and the colours just looked terrible!

      @@fudgecake4633 It takes a while to get used to to paint in black and white and to color afterwards (or better yet, color about half way through) and can really help speed up the process. A lot of the professional digital painters do it also, so I'd definitely give it a few tries before abandoning the technique! What I've found out to be helpful is to not use the "color" mode while doing so, but "overlay", and even then you have to be very careful with the colors you pick. And of course, lots and lots of rendering afterwards.
      While I liked this video a lot I gotta say Jazza didn't give a great demonstration on digital painting, or how to do the black and white sketching so that it results in a good piece - the digital portrait seemed very amateurish compared to his traditional work so I suppose it's just lack of practice, but using effects didn't really help with the impression either. The traditional pieces were very cool though and as long as this video helped people learn new tips I'm sure it served its purpose!
