    I went to see Beksinski this summer while visiting my family in Poland. His art is a huge motivator for my own and created a new chapter. The pitch black gallery where his art is displayed is amazing! The only lights were fitted spotlights on each painting and it made them come alive! So glad to hear his name mentioned

    Awesome vid . I'm waiting for you to test out the new 24in or the 32in wacom . I understand the glass is thinner that makes the pen point closer to the lines you draw plus its 4k . From your opinion as a digital artist do you think that will make a big difference from what you use now . The price will drop some on the 27in . Would you rather keep painting with the 27in or go with the new Wacom 32 or 24in 4k and how has the 27 in worked out for you so for . I need to know is it going to be worth waiting for the new wacom 4k or just save the money and get the 27in . Thanks and i totally get your point on this vid . I'm just ready to go get a good Wacom

    I'm starting my "career" as an illustrator right now. One of the most overwhelming things about it is finding talented people EVERYWHERE you look online. Your channel is one of the best sources of inpiration to keep moving onwards, even though I have little direction of where I'm supposed to be going.

    An illustrator also performs and expresses emotion as theatrical actress/actor.
    There are many talented artist in matter technichal skill, but you´ll only remember a handful because of the emotional impact, there´s something that resonates with you.
    Will it be something pretty and fleeting? Or something deep and lasting?
    With every skill you leran, reflect on how to use it to evoke emotion, the goal is to awaken a specific emotion in the audience. Every detail can be used to provoke it.
    Empathy is important. Step outside of yourself and get into the mind and body of the characters you are portraying.

    Amazing job on the intro man! also about the video itself It really spoke with me, I find that the technical aspect of an image is often times very simple once you know what to do to make it look real and nice. But damn to make an emotional image is hard! Amazing tips, for sure they gave me a new way of looking at it. keep it up sir!

    • @AdamDuffArt
      @AdamDuffArt  6 лет назад +6

      It's definitely hard, but it's a different kind of hard, a personal hard, a meaningful hard - not that exhausting "labor" type of hard. It's what motivates and drives you into that obsessive artist kind of headspace - where I love being.

  • @picsapien9786

    Sick new intro man!
    I work as a commercial artist. Most of my work is about conveying a message as clearly as possible within a short a time as possible. It becomes more of a 'get it done', than an emotional piece. It becomes really difficult to break away from scientific illustrations and school book illustrations and architectural concepts to creating art that can resonate on a deeper level. Having said that, if you are like me the art part is a two way business, you stream emotion into a painting and generate peace and satisfaction from it in return. So when I work on commercial stuff for to long i start feeling very drained, then i have to put time aside and paint something that takes effort and time, so as to go through a little ritual cleanse or something. in short, i believe the food we get from doing emotionally charged art work is essential to breeding a healthy creative spirit! Thanks for the talk, 2018 balls to the wall!

    • @AdamDuffArt

      You couldn't have nailed it more squarely on the head. Any kind of professional work generally tends to pull you into a more procedural headspace. You find yourself flipping back and forth between being efficient vs being expressive. I have found that over the years, your ability to work productively and your efficiency start meeting half way - where you can allow more of your personality to resonate into your professional work - it's a delicate balance because you're playing against the clock, but it does happen.

    Omg you always be dropping those gems 💎 and it really made me think all this time I have been wanting to start to focus more on composition and making paintings from an emotional side how I really feel and you helped me realize it’s because I really was not putting my emotions into the situation. I do a lot of tutorials so I was always thinking about things from a technical standpoint. Thank you 💖🤗

    This is so true. Unfortunately we only have control over our personal work.
    I always hate it when "Directors/Leads" tell me to add something that doesn't add to the story of a place or even worse.. it takes away from it. Rather than the whole environment working together to create a powerful illusion it creates a themepark of different ideas.

    Great art touches someone's soul, that does not mean everyone will be touched by the artpiece, but when it does, it's magic. It does not matter if it's just a piece containing two lines or a photorealistic rendering. It's not about what people see, it's what the artpiece makes them feel that engages the connection.
    As they say in marketing, even when it's about you, it's not about you. ;)
    Thanks for the video Adam !

    • @AdamDuffArt
      @AdamDuffArt  6 лет назад

      First off, thank you! Secondly, you sound like you're coming at this subject from more of a Fine Artist's perspective. And in that case, you can paint anything your heart desires so long as it authentically reflects and projects a feeling or mood. This would be known as either Abstract Impressionism, or Expressionism - or even Surrealism depending on your particular take on it. But don't let "art genres" direct you - you go with what feels right to you, and you will naturally find yourself fall into a genre on your own (or create your own unique one).

    • @johandepaepe8512
      @johandepaepe8512 6 лет назад

      I would not know about art genres, and that is a deliberate made choice, to not know.Great are is, like you say, emotion. If someone can make just one line speak to me, that piece of art might be more valuable to me than some priceless piece. I got this mindset in my first, and by this, final year of art education a very long time ago. It completely got my head wrapped about art interpretation by teachers, in the same school, same year, as they had radical different visions. I could not agree, it just was unlivable too me. Now, almost 35 years later, I finally found how to listen to my own voice, to my own truth. 35 years... man. It's just now that I am picking up that pen again, and loving it, whatever comes out.
      Adam, what you are saying in this video, especially the actor part of painting. it's brilliant. Thank you !

    OMG. Look at that intro, thanks for your advice, it's hard because you get lost on little things like anatomy, posture, lights, and we forget the why on the painting.

    • @AdamDuffArt
      @AdamDuffArt  6 лет назад +1

      Absolutely Andres - it's SO easy to get caught up in technicality - and something personal can get lost when the sexy art seduces us. I watch how my 16 year old draws, without any professional training at all - and she's PURE feeling in her work - her work is an absolute reflection of her personality. Now in her case she's incredible despite her lack of training, but we can't all be that lucky ;)

    Yay, another art talk :D I really like your perspective on this - and I think you pin pointed why doing art is so demanding. It really does go way beyond “making something look good or pretty”. Expressing yourself always comes with a sense of vulnerability, and the emotional investment can be overwhelming. Yet, the art that speaks to us in an emotional way is the art that’s coming from a genuine place in it’s creator.

    That is the reason why i put myself into trance with music. It highly influence your results, my Artworks turned totally different out as i planed it. I handle my pieces as an energy-loaded craftsmenship, a paper/Canvas is en energy-loaded field wich infects (motstly) the viewer.
    Great advice, Adam!

      You're more than welcome! I'd warn you however - pick your music carefully because it has a profound impact on your mood. I always make a point of matching the music I'm listening to, to the theme and feel of my art narrative. (such as listening to the soundtrack of Master and Commander while doing an illustration of a sea captain)
