  • The misconception that causes the officers to react in a way that might cause these situations.
I do understand the law and the fact that there aren't any dog parks or areas in the neighborhoods where these incidents occur lead to the bad interactions between myself and officers who are at the end of the day just doing their job.
I just wish they could see it from my point of view.
We aren't a threat nor menacing the public so we don't deserve the treatment that I receive as a dog owners. Breed bar none.
The breed of dog nor the race I happen to be should have nothing to do with the way I'm viewed or treated.

@No Commentz I didn't get arrested.. what happened in this moment is what actually happens in a lot of situations ...
There were too many variables which couldn't possibly be accounted for... The one thing that is displayed in this situation, which happened live, which happens live all to often, a police officer, or officers arrrive.. and just don't know what the hell is happening or going on..no one does... and ... the police themselves, don't know how to react or aren't properly informed then you have everything else to try to factor in .... " let me say I can only stand on and for what I know because I am the one in this situation during this time "... that when that situation happened.... it was no reason or nothing that would have made me change my stance... the officer was and is wrong..

Make sure your children are in the house and away from this dog, cause he could flash into a savage predator, which dogs are, and attack and harm your child. Cause the owner is being an irresponsible F*ck and won't pick up the damned leash.

@No Commentz Your un Christlike remark is why there is a disconnect from the poor in this country and the Roman guards that wear police uniforms. There is no law that was broken and yet you side with tyranny. A leash? Taking someone to jail for this? And the officer ordering him to "pick up that leash". Perhaps you would have sided with Rome when they crucified Christ Mr. No Commentz. Jesus never approved to tyranny or lying. The officer, over the radio said the dog was "not under control". It looked 100% under control. The officer was screaming and ordering and being a bully.
If you like that I feel sorry for you.

Not having an ID is not a crime. The law specifies the dog must be on a leash and that the dog must be under the owner's control. It does not say that the owner must hold the leash at all times. That dog was most certainly under his control and did nothing to prove otherwise. I have trained K9s for decades and a dog can be under verbal control without being restrained.

I was at a park once, my dog off leash as I throw his ball. Dozens of others were out for picnic/hang out and were enjoying this large irish setter jumping up to catch his ball. Game was he catches, drops at my feet and runs 100' away sits and waits for the next throw. Park security comes up and says my dog isn't "under control". I issue "down", dog drops to down. I say "he's under control". Security was impressed but said I had to leash him. We went back and forth for at least 3-4 minutes while the dog was still in down (he did whelp some). They let me do one last throw before I commanded a sit@heel, and attached leash. The spectators started booing the security. They slinked away, and I let the dog get hugs from the kids and families that were enjoying the day. It was epic.

No I'm saying that you didn't see my dog acting out if control. Not even while the officer is clearly being aggressive you don't see my dogs out if control. So to answer your question yes I do have control over my dogs better than you have control of that mouth and the uneducated opinions you spew out of it.

    • @AlexxxPerales
      @AlexxxPerales 8 лет назад +1

+B. Eric Peyton Just because your dog is not acting out of control, does not change the fact that he was not in control. and that was his issue.
I know you claim that you dont need to hold the leash and can control your dog without holding the leash ( i assume with voice commands or some kind of psychic link). and sure man i believe you. but to expect everyone else to automatically know this, without knowing anything about you or your dog, is simply un reasonable.

Maybe if you saw a dog with a leash around its neck but no one holding it, you would feel fine having that dog walk around your children. Maybe you would think to yourself, "well its not out of control now so im sure my children are fine. Even if that dog did run to a child im sure the owner would issue a voice command and that dog would stop instantly in its tracks."
But me personally?..... I think Id feel better if someone was holding the leash..... but hey thats just me.. (apparently also the person who called the police). to each their own

This gum chewing LEO called a two officer car that came Code 3 putting the public at FAR GREATER RISK of life and limb than the dog which appeared to be completely under control and for which the LSO had already said would only result in a civil "citation" resulting in "a fine of not more then $25" and not an arrest. That is totally irresponsible and in fact contrary to Code 3 police policies nationwide.
A representative "Code 3" policy is that of the Pasadena (CA) PD (#316) which includes teh following language in the Pasadena PD Policy Manual:
    Code Three Responses
    316.1 PURPOSE AND SCOPE
    (a) It is the policy of the department to authorize the operation of a police vehicle under Code-3 conditions:
1.When in direct pursuit of a suspected law violator
2.When an accelerated response is justified by the potential for preservation of life
3.When an officer is in need of emergency assistance.
4.When the accelerated response, or the totality of the circumstances so warrant, the
officer shall broadcast the he or she is responding Code 3.
    316.2 RESPONSE TO CALLS
Officers dispatched "Code-3" shall consider the call an emergency response and proceed
immediately. Officers responding Code-3 shall continuously operate emergency lighting equipment, including at minimum a steady forward facing red light, and shall sound the siren as reasonably necessary pursuant to Vehicle Code § 21055. Officers should only respond Code-3 when so dispatched or when circumstances reasonably indicate an emergency response is required. Officers not authorized to respond Code-3 shall observe all traffic laws and proceed without the use of emerge ncy lights and siren.
    316.3 REQUESTING EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE
Requests for emergency assistance should be limited to those situations where the involved personnel reasonably believe that there is an immediate threat to the safety of officers, or assistance is needed to prevent imminent serious harm to a citizen.

I hate to side with police but if this guy didn't have the leash in his hands, he does not have control over that animal. Even though throughout the interaction I never once saw the dog so it must have been sitting heel. Just because you trust your dogs doesn't mean I do, keep the leash to your dog in your hand when your out in public.

Charley Wade do you have kids? If the answer is yes did you put a leash on them. From 6 months and up kids are always touching thing that do not belong to them. It you job to teach them to stay in one place when you tell them too. You train a kid the same as you train you dog to listen to you. And stay were you tell them. I have seen dog act better than some of these kids today.

no law was broken and that I'd was just a bullshit reason to arrest him.
      fuck how you fell.

Yeah, I had a mall security guard approach me one day...when I was "polishing" my Aussie obedience competition dog on the sidewalk, before the mall was even open. I was doing off-lead heeling after having completed ON-lead heeling, when he approached. Told me that I did not have control of my dog. I LAUGHED out loud. I told him to watch us. When I had stopped, my dog automatically sat at my side and didn't move a muscle. After 5 minutes of talking, I told my dog to "down". Stood there for another 10 minutes talking, Meanwhile, people had been walking by us, with my dog never making a twitch. The guard finally admitted that I did HAVE control. They had trouble with PET people bringing dogs to the mall in the back of the trucks. (STUPID) , dogs jumping out to go over to other dogs or people, causing issues. Well, for one, my dogs NEVER ride in the back of a PU...they're IN my PU, in a plastic crate for THEIR safety and mine. BTW, this dog had NUMEROUS HIT (High in Trial obedience Aussie) in competitions. NOT a dog that will run off.

Off leash and in control are two different things. If your dog is CGC certified for example it proves the dog can be controlled by commands but if there is a leash law the dog still has to be on a leash either tied or in someone's hand. My Husk was CGC and this allows you to take your dog on more trails than a dog without the cert. She still had to be on a leash.

Why in the world did the backup officer respond as a Code 3 (sirens and lights) to this clearly non-emergency call? By doing so they unnecessarily put the general public in danger. Code 3 response is meant for response to incidents graded as an immediate priority such as those in which life is at risk, there is serious injury (or risk of), serious road traffic collisions, and where serious crime is in-progress or has just taken place. A code 3 response in this instance was totally irresponsible and this officer should be disciplined for calling for back up at that priority.

Not too long ago, I was walking my dog with a leash, and another dog owner with their dog on a leash approached me and my dog, but they didn't have control over their dog even though it was on a leash. It was my responsibility to take the appropriate action to make sure that their dog didn't attack my dog. I had to pick my dog up over my head to keep it and the other dog apart. The fact that this guy's dog was on a leash is irrelevant. If he has control over his dog that's all that really matters.
In Europe, it is almost unheard of to get a dog fixed because dog owners have total control over their dogs. The only people getting their dogs fixed over there are Americans because we're all too lazy to control our dogs. So we pass laws for lazy people to follow. This guy has control over his dog, but that doesn't matter now that we all have to be treated as lazy morons.
Act like a dipshit and they'll treat you as an equal.
