You look well chuffed! I got my Hayter 41 coming in the post! thanks for the vid. I went for the push for the workout while i'm still young! Ill get a self drive in my 60s.
Thank you, I think you’ve hit the nail on the head, as to why I bought it. I don’t have the time to care for a lawn to make a cylinder viable, so felt this was the next best option
Great video and very informative. I decided to buy the self propelled version of this lawnmower and I'm really glad I did because the machine is heavy, especially with a full grass box.
wow what a lawn! I have a Mountfield with a roller ,although it cuts well I find the roller a little on the light side so thinking of changing to a Hayter as you mention the roller is heavy to give good stripes
Terrific Lawn and great video. Have been a Hayter fan for many years and presently have the 41 selfdrive version. Wonderful machine. My problem is age and arthritis and as the 41 is heavy I am having to consider the Hayter Hawk which is lighter and battery powered. We shall see
Very kind of you thank you. I agree, the downside being the weight, makes it a little more awkward to manoeuvre. Id also be interested to try battery but also something lighter. Great machine other than that, really pleased with it.
Like your video mate, I’ve got the allett and the Hayter, both nice mowers. They each do different functions for me, allett gives a lovely finish, but is rubbish at picking up debri and leaves, which is where the Hayter excels. So allett in the summer and Hayter in the early spring and autumn
Looks really good mate well done, Iv also got a roller petrol mower Iv just bought. I’m having trouble with the front wheels flattening the grass before the blade hits it After it’s been cut it’s leaving uncut lines from the wheels. Any advice is appreciated
That’s impressive. The smile on your face tells the story. Only thing missing is a glass 🥃 of something cold on the garden table. Did you just take the top layer off the lawn? Don’t suppose I could borrow it. Lol🤣🤣🤣 just got myself a new Bosch thing to tackle my disaster area. Look forward to the next video. Keep up the good work bro.
Great vid. Great lawn. My question. If your lawn was smaller with no straight edges like yours 1. how easy is this machine to manoeuvre without the self drive? On a very gentle slope 2. how easy is it to push? Would you get away with buying what you have, the push version? For longer and wet grass 3. do you feel there’s enough power in the engine? Thanks in advance. Keep the content coming.😀👍
Thank you for doing the video. I am giving it serious consideration to purchase one of these . To move it from the front of house ( garage) to back etc. I will need to push it along on our slabs . Will that be ok with this? I wouldn’t want to risk damaging the rear roller.
No problem at all. I push ours around no problem, my concern is more damaging the slabs that the roller. Id have to check but think the roller is plastic.
Great video and great lawn!! Probably worth cutting the yellow rope off the bag just incase it gets caught up with the blade, it's there so they know it's in the box at the factory. Any reason why you didn't buy from a dealer?
@@DIYJourney1 not from a shop then? A physical one. Always good just in case there is an issue and some shops get funny if you buy online but should still sort it out.
A physical shop online. Not sure why the seller would get funny because its been purchased online, they have an obligation to resolve any issues as a dealer. I am 99% confident I will never need to claim on the warranty…what really can go wrong.
Thanks, for a backhanded compliment. Its far from overlooked…2x neighbours and maybe 3x actual windows that cam be looked out of in to our garden. Don’t 90% of uk houses have worse than that?
Talk about exaggeration, 2x houses out of 5x that surround us (2x couples) and 3x non frosted windows 🤦🏽♂️🤣…Your telling me you stand in your windows and stare in to your neighbours gardens. Its definitely not overlooked in a manner that is an issue in the slightest, yes they can see our garden as can 90% of neighbouring houses in the UK 🤣
@@DIYJourney1 I understand but man I'd always feel like someone's watching me, it's even worse at night when you wouldn't even be able to tell if anyone is watching from their dark window in to the room by the garden when it's lights are on. Such is life for us peasents unable to afford houses with nice big private gardens.
Would never reccomend a hayter self propelled unless your buying an old one have had new and old and always choose my hawk from 1998 still going strong and hardly ever needs a service and when it does not much goes wrong on a 35 classic engine, the self propelled gearboxes on hayters are terrible stay away from those, but the push mowers are really good from hayter nowadays, hope this helps someone from making the mistake many do.
It is against all good practises that you NEVER add petrol or oil to any moiwer when on the grass. Spillage at some time is inevitable so relocate mower away from the lawn!
I would absolutely rather spill petrol or diesel on the grass than on the paving slabs 👍🏼 seems sensible to me given the ease of clean up on the grass compared to sandstone slabs, would you not say?
Welcome to club Hayter - you won’t be disappointed

Hayter are great machines.
You have got your lawn in great shape pal …. Like me I can tell you are getting obsessed with it 😆👍🏻

Nice One
Nice lawn mate, I've just ordered the 41 autodrive and looking forward to it's arrival.
That looks amazing Rob, have you stopped smiling yet🤔😆
No, I just keep cutting the grass and keep on smiling 😁
wow what a lawn! I have a Mountfield with a roller ,although it cuts well I find the roller a little on the light side so thinking of changing to a Hayter as you mention the roller is heavy to give good stripes
Thankyou, yes really pleased with the Hayter mower
I agree if you have no hills don't get a self propelled they are harder to push when the drive is off
Looks bang on! Good to see the subscriber count slowly growing! Keep up the good work!
Thank you 🙂

Hayters give a great stripe. Make sure you regularly service it and it will last years 👍🏻
They certainly do. Great thanks for the heads up, ill certainly do that.

Love new mowers hate doing the bags how did you manage
Looks lovely that mate, have you had any problem with the mower? Thinking about buying this mower to replace hayter 41 spirit
No issues at all,it’s been fantastic, I even accidentally put diesel it in, and it still runs fine now.
Great video and great lawn!!

The yellow has been cut off.
I bought it online from a dealer?

Just don’t run it out of fuel because your never get it started again, trust I have the same 1
Iv ran it out quite a few times with no issues. Even put diesel in it by mistake 🤦🏽♂️, still running like a dream
Mate that looks good. Does this have a roller? Also it goes right up to the walls/edges? Will it save me using a strimmer
It does have a roller yes. Although it gets very close to the edge, I would still suggest strimming
@@DIYJourney1 thanks man. I’m going to grab the pro version I think. Hope it’s worth the extra couple hundred!
@@DIYJourney1 decided to go for 48 ES.. but not the pro.
I have a 100 quid lawn mower with a roller.. does the same thing.
Really pleased for you, given the roller is what gives stripes, that is what I would expect regardless of cost 👍🏼 thanks for sharing with everyone.
@@DIYJourney1 dont get me wrong if i had the money i would love to own such a piece of machinery
Nice lawn, shame is so over looked by neighbours though.

@@DIYJourney1 And it's people to show off your lawn to. You need an audience when you've invested the time, money and energy!!!
That is a very good point 😃👍🏼👌🏼
How easy is it to push?
Very easy, although once nearly full does get heavy
Noob here. What gives the variation in the stripes? Is it the mowing in the opposite direction to the other ones?
It is yes, as long as you have a mower with a roller on it
How often do you water the lawn?
Every 3-4 days if we don’t have any rain. In intense heat, id increase that to every 2 days
Bloody hell, can't imagine having a garden being overlooked by every single house around it, ZERO privacy!

Maybe we feel differently about we have to worry about. Social status is fairly irrelevant.
@@DIYJourney1 What made you choose the petrol Hayter, was the battery version not out back then?
Yes the battery had just been released. If i remember correctly battery was around double the price.
I bought a push one but you had to walk so fast.I just never pull the lever in.

You should never fill the tank with the mower on the lawn
Would rather spill fuel on the lawn than the new paving slabs…however good job Im in full control and don’t spill any 🙂
Watch out filling the lawnmower up on the lawn. Any spills of petrol will kill your beautiful new lawn.
Id rather kill the grass than spill it on the nice paving slabs
