    the baggy material on top of the grass bag is there to let you know when airflow is reduced either from blocking or a full bag it will sags also reducing the chance of dropping grass

    i find with small lawns its easier to start in the middle straight up straight down when done go round the out side twice to base it off

    The roller on the rear is awesome. Nothing like that in the United States. But we do have hilly yards so the AWD models are popular.

    Nice review. I been working with Hayters since the later Eighties & I have seen them Change many times along the way. But not many good Changes of late. I'd be interested in The under side of the mower as that's what often lets me down. How much plastic is there? I love the old solid cast decks I have not seen one on a new Hayter in years

    Thanks for your vids mate - really, really enjoyable to watch! : ) Sorry for the long post!! ...I appreciate you don't have time to answer all of the questions that come your way...I'll go ahead anyway and put it out there in the hope you can come back to me and if you don't answer it may be someone else can chip in with their thoughts?...
    The situation is that I have managed to bend the crank on a 3 year old Honda IZY 416 SK... impressive! So I now have the task of getting a new mower... I have decided to get those stripes going-on and opt for a roller mower. After a few hours of research I have arrived at the Hayter 41 Pro 379B or the Stihl RM 545 VR. The lawn to be cut is roughly 325 - 350 sq. metres and is tiered over 3 levels so the weight, amongst other things, is important.
    I have picked-up on what seems to be your praise on the Stihl mowers re: the collection box...it seems like a better system. The stihl is also light at approximately 30kg's vs. 42kg's for the Hayter, and so I would probably need a hand to lift that. I like that the Hayter has a Honda engine over the Briggs & Stratton for the Stihl although I can get the Stihl for £600 vs. £800 for the Hayter! Decisions decisions! ... I think that's enough info for now... any advice you could give me please or anyone else? thanks in advance!

    Nice video. I’m confused myself at the moment as I’m looking for a new mower for my lawn I’m a big obsessed with striping so want the best I can get for around £ 350-400 and thought I’d go for the Hayter spirit 41 push. Anything out there which is better than the above . Any help would be appreciated thanks 😀

    I'm new to these blogs, but with a large and varied area to cut I'm very interested in your reviews, particularly of British machinery vers British weather. My first surprise was that you even attempted cutting in or just after torrential rain = good luck! Seriously, unless you have a magicians hat surely soaking wet grass will always clog whatever the machine at this level. There is possibly one exception and that is the John Deere that uses fan assistance. I have not tried this but the weight and cost for my particular needs put me off it's purchase. One comment I would make is that all commercial cutting - I'm talking about lawn areas to industrial estates etc - is done by mulching only. Not ideal but effective and there is still a lot of debate about which is best, collecting or mulching. Smaller decorative lawns definitely benefit from collection and this keeps the weed content down, but do you ever mulch? The other issues I face are slopes, rocks and tree stumps. Mower weight and drive is a big factor but also decoupled blades which gives the machine a fighting chance of survival, particularly if a blade embeds itself in a shallow unseen hawthorn stump. For this reason I purchased a Masport mower - light weight good traction and decoupled blade tips. However, I do have some larger flat lawns that would benefit from striping and a more decorative effect, so a machine with a rear roller is on the shortlist and particularly Hayter as it appears to be a decent British make. For larger areas strangely there is nothing available from British manufacturers. Commercial grade machines from Grillo seem untouchable - why are the Italians so good at this? The fan assisted collection has to be seen to be believed, hence my comment about the John Deere earlier and they cope with uneven or sloping ground easily. Apologies for the length of this response, but keep up the good work.

    I find the new 41 so fast I can't keep up on small lawns, apparently a few of people have commented on this on different sites.
    I spoke to Hayter and they recognise this and have brought out a gearing kit that brings the speed down but not the power to the blades. It didn't look too fast when you used it on the small lawn but mine needs Lynford Christie behind it!

    Hi great video as I am about to buy one for my gardening business to replace a Harrier 41 from 2014 which has had two cracked back axles. Hoping the build quality is improved. How’s it performed since you purchased it?

    • @TheLawnGuy
      @TheLawnGuy  6 лет назад

      Nick Smith
      Hi Nick, it’s been great since I’ve had it, everything has been beefed up on it! Also the design of the roller has changed, making access easier! Which should reduce labour cost at the dealers if something did go wrong!
      It’s still the fastest mower I’ve ever used, which speeds up production, but with out reducing any quality in the cut!
      Also it is a bit better on wet grass too!
      Hope this helps
      Dave

    Hi. Great video. Very detailed. I’ve decided to order this mainly as it fits weird spaces. Most of my gardens are smaller and have the typical new build tiny side entrance. My question is how does the mower come when shipped. I’ve ordered it online. Does it take much assembly? Thanks! 👌🏻

    Just wondered if you'd ever used a Honda HRX 426 QX? If so, I'd be really grateful to hear your feedback on how it compares to the 41 Pro? I'm trying to decide which to buy. Leaning towards the Hayter but only on the basis that its a newer model and a aluminium deck.

    • @TheLawnGuy
      @TheLawnGuy  7 лет назад +1

      dtpazz hi, to be fair I've not use the Honda mower in a long timer the reason I went for the hayter over Honda, if the Hayter goes wrong it's generally cheaper to repair! But mainly due to the Hayter roller having grooves in it, that grips the grass when going uphill, essential if you live in Hilly area like me!

    Good review mate. I quite like the handle bar grip. It's comfy and replaceable. The bagging capability is much better. The gamble I took on having the 41 replacing my 48 pro payed off. It's better at suction and bagging a great upgrade. And feels more powerful. Hope they work on the others. However the new bag material on 56 pro makes a big difference. Cheers.

      Great review! I am seriously thinking about buying one for these for the smaller lawns. I really hope it collects well in the wet. I saw one this year at saltex and was very happy with it. I hope the new range of hayters follow on from this. Can I ask, what mower do you have in this video to the left of the hayter? You can see it when you first start the 41 up near the van.

      @TheLawnGuy  6 лет назад

      SuperStanners81 Hi thanks for watching to be honest I’ve not used the Honda equivalent, but I’ve had the 41 just under a year now and it fantastic, bags well, easy to service! (Which keeps dealer cost down) and it’s really fast so productivity goes up but with out the loss of any quality of cut!

    I have the hayter harrier 48 electric start, and I hate it with a passion. The electric start is a nightmare and sometimes just ticks and not start at all... it’s just a few months old and WILL be going back to the shop. The grass collection is appalling, I am constantly having to empty a half empty bag, and it’s not just the bag that is the problem. I have cut lawns without the back. It just keeps clogging at the chute. Needless to say it has caused a number of headaches for me and I won’t be buying another.

    • @TheLawnGuy
      @TheLawnGuy  6 лет назад

      RJC-Services I never bother with electric start mowers! Never had one work well! There's a number of changes to the 41 that makes it bag better, and I'm sure the same changes will be made in time soon to the 48 and hopefully 56!!

    • @TheLawnGuy
      @TheLawnGuy  3 года назад +1

      I'm yet to fined a mower that doesn't have some kind of problem, and usually expensive.
      You can now get a metal roller for this mower which I understand makes the whole machine lighter so maybe not so much wear on the bearings perhaps.

    the older model was much better, it ad a bigger throat easier bag removal, the new one I had got sold after six weeks. Buy an old second hand one unless you have a small lawn, it's too dear as well, Hayter has just made its biggest mistake.
