17:00 - I misspoke, as Rich started in 79 and Tony in 81.
18:10 - For some reason, I call the Game Treasureland Island. It's called Treasureland Adventure.
    Hey people,
This is completely different than any of my videos but I hope it turned out okay! HUGE thanks to Kevin Carlson and Lee Chapman for the interviews, as well as Rich Seidelman and all the people on the "Filming in McDonaldland" page for all of the invaluable insights and resources.

I miss McDonaldland and its characters so much. It made McDonald’s stand out from other restaurants overall and I wish companies would have fun characters and settings. Everything is so corporate and bland nowadays. Bring back the colors and shapes!

I can strongly argue that no matter much controversy and criticism pops up, it's not the advertisers or characters fault for the rise of childhood obesity! It's parents fault for not taking responsibility with their kids and just decided to take them to get fast food way too often. As much as children might be a disposable income, have a large purchasing influence, and easily targeted with ads, keep in mind that what they see is not free and it’s NOT the kids who have to pay for the these products being targeted at them! It the parents who have to do it for them and are the ones choosing to feed them all this when they should've said, 'no' more often. Parents really should've been disciplining their kids instead of letting society as a whole ban all of the magic and happy places for kids to have fun with at McDonald’s and all! What parents should do is have their children get a fast food meal as an occasional weekend thing or special event (like a birthday party) go to. They could have also disciplined them about getting McDonald’s at certain point ONLY if they behaved themselves somewhere, did chores or even improve on their grades. But, nope! Parents just spoiled them and lead it to obesity in which has destroyed all the fun many 80s and 90s kids grew up with. And society itself is just too stubborn sadly. Parents are too lazy to blame themselves and just blame it on society itself as well as critics!
I was born in 1996 but I wish I could've been born a decade earlier so I could experience more of McDonaldland. As a matter of fact, I created a parody of McDonaldland that is featured on my channel that's going for 5 months. Plus it creates a fast food franchise in my mind that has little to way less to fuss over or be so controversy. The magic of McDonaldland can be relived all over again but in a new and better way IMO.

First time i felt like someone truly understood and felt the same way with the love towards McDonald land, the way you even included music from the animated vhs series was so fun to notice, and added so much nostalgia and reminded me how i felt as a kid watching the vhs tapes and commercials wishing I could live in McDonald land

I don't have any nostalgia for McDonald's Land (I grew up around the time they started phasing things out and my parents didn't let me have fast food often when I was a kid), but I've always been interested in how much lore there seemed to be for it; it's always cool to see when corporations let artists take an idea and run with it.
Also how do you only have 195 subs? Well, I'm 196 now, I'll be happy to see where you take this channel from here :)

Anyone from Australia remember ball pits at playgrounds? I grew up in the 90s and went to a fair few McDonalds as a kid and never saw that. Overall the playgrounds were pretty average most of the time. The best one I went to was in Gundagai NSW. It was along the freeway and there was one specific part where it had a net attached to the tubes and on the other side of the net was an orb (dead end to the tube) with a windscreen. Inside the orb there was a joystick in the middle. It was scary as a kid to cross the net because it moved about and you could see the ground below, but if you overcame that and got into the orb, it was attached to a bracket and you could move the orb around with the joystick like you were controlling a spaceship. It was cool.
I don't like McDonalds food much these days and almost never go there but I still have that nostalgic ffel for that particular venue. I haven't been there for two decades now. I doubt the same structure exists there.

Growing up, where I lived, we had a “Rock ‘n’ Roll McDonald’s” because it had a 50’s rock ‘n’ roll theme. I don’t remember it having a play place but I do remember it have checkered floors, booths that looked like cars from the 50’s, and a whole phone booth inside. I don’t think it’s there anymore (it was the one in Maryland) but I have many memories from my childhood of this place. My mom also worked at the other McDonald’s (on the other side of town) for like 5 years while I was a kid, so I had many birthday parties there lol.

I remember when they started getting rid of the Playland playgrounds. Our local one just off I-Drive in Orlando (now known as Epic McD), donated several of the playground pieces to my kindergarten. The ride on fry guys and crawl through hamburger are the two I remember most. I think we also got a merry go round. The playground seemed like a tangible part of the world in the commercials and I thought as a little kid, it was sad, no one wanted it anymore.

Honestly, I get the lawsuit the Kroffts waged against McDonald's. But it's also more or less why a lot of the changes in the 80's and 90's happened. The major bit of the lawsuit was famously how much Mayor McCheese and Officer Big Mac were too close in design to H.R. Pufinstuf and it led to both their retirement and the design overhaul of folks like Captain Crook and The Professor.
